Nice apartments but not a safe area. So many car break ins, including mine. Which is not the apartments fault, but just take that into consideration before moving in the Hillview area.

Don’t let the aesthetics fool you. I had the worst move-in experience every with Brookview - Apex. So bad I moved in and out in 10 days!!! Day 1 my unit was not move in ready. At high level apartment was dirty, mildew/sour odor throughout, missing kitchen nook cabinets, un-paint drywall patches in dining area, washer/dryer dirty and not in a functional state, low water pressure throughout, no hot water in showers or kitchen faucet and kitchen appliances not well maintained. This is the first apartment I’ve moved into where the 24-hour move in inspection uncovered so many issues. Outside my apartment door and the stairs were filthy. I had to sweep the outside stairway and pour hot bleach water outside my front door to make it more presentable and clean. Had to stop running the air to troubleshoot the spoiled egg/mildew smell on Day 4. This improved the air quality in the unit but the smell was still there just reduced. I have so many notes, video and photos documenting issues I honestly could write an entire article on how bad the experience was. But I’ll try to recap: 1. Very, very dirty. Leasing team was comfortable moving a new tenant into a dirty un-maintenance apartment. 2. They will pre-lease and accept your rent money before showing you the actual unit you sign for. 3. Master bathroom toilet flooded on day 5 without even being used. 4. Move-in inspection uncovered dirty apartment and multiple maintenance issues. Foul odor from HVAC, In-unit Washer & Dryer dirty not in working order. No hot water, low water pressure and flooding toilets Day 1. Walls are painted messily over outlet covers and you can see stain drip lines and dirt through the paint job where they painted over dirty walls and cabinets. 5. Looking at the trash compactor area will tell you everything you need to know about this place. TRASH!!! 6. Basically moved in and out in 10 days!! Do not pre-lease! And do not risk your rental history and credit for this place unless you are completely desperate for housing.
Worst choice I've made in my life but trust I won't be making it again it's cheap but it's not worth the price. There were stains on the carpet when we moved it broken outlets. Cable connection doesn't work in every room, just a big old disappointment. *
Apartments are nice and area is safe, however, the rent has increased a lot since I moved in six months ago, on average the apartment rent has gone up at least 200 dollars since I moved in. I have found similar apartments in the area for a lot cheaper and the same quality and living space, I hope they get a message and become competitive otherwise they will loose tenants including myself when my lease expires. The Leasing office personnel are going to be very friendly until you sign your lease, after I signed my lease they are extremely unfriendly. I hope my review helps others make a decision about Apex on Preston.
Since I have lived here water from the upstairs apartment broke through my ceiling and flooded my kitchen. Today at 2:48pm I informed the office that my smoke detector was beeping and all I got was "I'll put in a work order." I even stopped by the office to ensure that they knew that it was an urgent problem and I was promised that it would be taken care of today. As of 7:08pm it has not been fixed and the office is closed. The staff is not very friendly after you move in. They just act like your requests are a bother to their day.
I live her and the apartments are very nice, but this is the first winter here for me and from what I have experienced since the cold weather broke is the heat pumps outside the bed room windows is horrible the noise is like a truck sitting out side the window. No professional snow removal. Looking forward to the summer to see how things go. I recommend if you want a noiseless place move to third floor.
In the winter the only side walks scraped are the ones in front, parking lot not cleared. Staff is very nice,
Apex is a great apartment complex with very friendly and caring staff. The complex is not only beautiful but very well built and maintained. The shower and closet in my one bedroom unit are HUGE and perfect for a couple sharing space. The complex is pet friendly and walking distance from a kroger, nail salon, restaurants, etc. The only complaint I have is that I wish it were closer to the downtown culture that Louisville has to offer. Also rent is on the more expensive side, however it is well worth the quality and amenities offered at Apex.
