Even before Erie was officially founded in 1795, the city’s location made it a desirable destination. The miles of shoreline, the beaches, and the beauty of Lake Erie continues to attract new residents to the city to this day. If you are one of the many moving to Erie, get ready for an adventure. Erie is known for outdoor activities, such as swimming and boating, and is home to the best freshwater beach in the country: Presque Isle State Park. The park features 13 beaches, a marina, and 21 miles of trails. The park also contains the Presque Island Lighthouse, built in 1872, and the extensive Tom Ridge Environmental Center.
Presque Isle State Park also offers year-round activities, from summers spent canoeing, swimming, water-skiing, and hiking to winters where ice skating, cross-country skiing, and ice fishing reign supreme.

Property Ratings at Brookwood Village
Main take away would be that the houses are poor quality and the landlords suck and could care less about you.
I was looking for apartments with a pretty decent window of 2-3 months ahead of schedule. I placed my deposit then I had a family loss and they refused to give it back. I decided not to fight it figuring the fight wasn’t worth it but this is a warning for anyone who is like me trying to be ahead of the curve they will screw you over.
Forget about getting your deposit back. And they will actually charge you money on top of keeping your deposit even if you clean from top to bottom and get carpets professionally cleaned. Don’t even consider moving in here.
Trust me, lighting your money on fire is a better financial decision than renting from Palermo. The apartments themselves are ok/mid, using luxury to describe them is a massive stretch. Narrow roads. Little to no parking. Will charge you hundreds of $ outside of your security deposit when you move out. Charged monthly clubhouse fee even when clubhouse/pool was closed for months due to COVID, this was corrected eventually, but only after complaints and pressure mounted. Unresponsive management. Paper thin walls. All of the negatives of renting while also having the responsibility and stress you would if you owned the place, aside from drastic repairs, you have to do it all.
Be prepared to deal with the most unhelpful and unavailable office staff in Erie. There are basically no positive aspects to living in these townhomes. The lay out is terrible, there is no storage space, the walls are extremely thin so it's very likely you'll be listening to your neighbor, neighbors frequently dump trash near the dumpster (not in it) where it sits until another resident places it in the bin, the buildings have a ton of maintenance issues which either dont get addressed or takes weeks/months. Only stay here if every other rental property in Pennsylvania is unavailable.
If you have to rent from them make sure you take videos and lots of pics of the apartment before you move in! they have a habit of keeping security deposits so be prepared to not get your money back. I have 2 teenage kids and rented for short term. I cleaned the apartment top to bottom, didn't even hang pics up because i knew it was short term (boxes were still left packed up while waiting for my new house to be finished) they billed me 1100 to clean and paint the apt! they said there were handprints on the walls. I said no way, my kids were not little they didn't hold the walls while walking up and down the stairs. Ridiculous. Now I have to pay to go to court to demand my deposit back.
deposit(forget about it once it is out of your pocket), application, extension, lawn and snow, member club, parking, repairing, replacement, cleaning. Anything that you could imagine that they can charge you and things you can not imagine. Yeah. They will charge you and it is as expensive as all other fees. They had some troublesome tenant recently(2015), so guess who will pay for their loss?
Although these apartments are in need of an update to compete with newer apartment complexes, they make up for it with space and charm. Love the new carpet, garage, and deck! No linen closet, but both bedrooms are big enough to figure out a solution that is best. Kitchen is large enough for a portable island and 6 person table. Grounds are well kempt. Maitenance has been on point. Everyone is friendly and have been very accommodating. Even though we have two sets of stairs, they are not as challenging as we thought they would be. We moved last minute and the staff worked with us quickly to make sure we had a place to live. No plans to move anytime soon!
The good: The Palermo features are great -- wood burning fireplace, gas stove, garage that includes storage and washer/dryer hookups. The bad: Bring your snow shovel -- the snow removal contractor is problematic at best.
