Property Ratings at Brownstone Apartments
DO NOT MOVE HERE. If I could give 0 stars, I would. This place has been a nightmare. We haven't even lived here 2 full months and haven't had one week of peace. Broken AC for weeks and they refuse to do repairs or even communicate. They say make an appt, but don't respond to any appt requests, don't respond to emails, don't respond to phone calls, voicemails. Once you get moved in, they no longer care about you or any problems you may have. They don't care if you have health issues that are being affected by them, they don't care about children. The property management is abhorrent as well as the leasing agents. They sit around giggling and laughing, spend more time closing down the office randomly to go out to eat than they do working. DO NOT MOVE HERE, KEEP LOOKING, YOU CAN DO BETTER!!!
They are very quick with maintenance. We’ve been here several months and they have done a great job with communication, and there’s always a fun little thing to do. The price is good and it’s close to places like target. Definitely recommend!
If I could give a zero, I would. Do you want heat when it's cold? Sorry! Do you want air when it's hot? Sorry! These are the worst maintained apartments. Called for no heat in the winter and no one responded for three days. Ended up in a hotel. Air is currently not working-called on Sunday and it's Monday night-still no maintenance. If you are on the ground level, I highly suggest you look in the basement to see there is absolutely ZERO insulation under your feet, so you will be cold all winter long. They will tell you to read the Kansas Landlord Tenant Act-I suggest you do and throw it back at them everytime. They told me to read my lease and when I read it to them verbatim and quoted the Kansas Landlord Tenant Act, they didn't know what to do. The office staff has no idea of what a lease says and will tell you your lease is old or doesn't read the way the new lease does. SO?? A lease is a written contract that both parties sign and must abide by. Look out for no place to put a kitchen table and really no pantry for your food. Can't hang crap on the walls because they are plaster. There is very little closet space. Would be fine for 1 person, but not two. This is the MOST UNPROFESSIONAL PLACE EVER!!!!
DO NOT MOVE HERE. IT'S A JOKE. If I could rate this place a 0 I would. There are several reasons why you shouldn't move in to brownstone or the reserve. 1. The staff is always extremely rude and unhelpful. They are only nice when you first apply. Beatrice is the most rude person I've ever met for no reason. She's always mugging and has rude remarks. Most of the time they don't pick up the phone on purpose so I call multiple times until someone answers in a matter of 5 minutes. 2. Staff is antiquate. Once they were threatening to evict us for not paying rent which is why you ALWAYS NEED TO ASK FOR A COPY. They had apparently lost it but since we had a copy, they couldn't evict us. Every time they claim to call back the same day they never do, I always have to call again. Clearly unprofessional and irresponsible. 3. Maintenance is a joke. They only have one person who is able to fix AC even though there are over 6 people have that problem. Maintenance man's has said several times they'd be back the next day to check up on the AC or a broken bathroom wall and never showed up again. We have been six full days without AC and they have the audacity to come up with excuses. The AC continues to break down. Not a good environment for children. 4. Maintence is a joke pt 2. They will always try to fix things the cheap way. Our stove doesn't work properly and has a horrible gas smell. We requested one that was in a random basement and said we could have it if we took it and arranged it ourselfs. News flash it's your job to fix things. Maintenance man accused us of "re-breaking" our bathroom wall. When it was actually another part that fell off. The tiles will off with time. 5. Unnecessary charges. If your rent is late by one day, you have to pay $50. (Has never happened to us but confirmed by neighbors). You have to pay $25 if you fail to comply to monthly pest inspections. If you lose your key, you have to pay $15 for a copy. 6. Lack of amenities. I don't know why but they have decided to take everyone's storage and told us to take everything out within 24 hours. So much for a heads up. The laundry units never work. The pool is rarely cleaned. The children's park on the brownstone park has a broken slide that has been left like that for over a year. The girlls are overly small. 7. Pest (spiders) / Roach infestations. 8. Homeless/ wild cats behind dumpsters and apartments. These are all recent experiences and on going problems. Do yourself a favor.
A nightmare in disguise. The apartments here are nice for awhile, then their problems really start to shine. The "updated" kitchen as said in a previous review, are updated in the sense that they have better appliances than other apartments with 80's equipment. I have to admit, the gas stove is just about all i like from this place. However, i have alarms go off every time i turn on my stove, I've asked maintenance to fix it, but i guess they enjoy their tenant inhaling gas, because it still is to be fixed. The hardwood floors are nice, dirty very easy with the windows and easy to tract in dirt from the hallways, which are cleaned every 3 months. I've had just about half the appliances in my apartment replaced due to massive malfunctions. They used to be pretty good with giving ample notice on pest control dates and handing out their monthly flyers. However, I've noticed that they've been coming later and later. Before you'd get a 4 days notice at least for a pest control, now it's they day of or the day before, if you're lucky. It's moderately quiet around, except with the high school being nearby, so game days and outside events are a nightmare. Also, the neighbors like to exercise the right to be as loud as they want, so loud as to shake my shelves, before the 10 pm quiet time. Don't bother calling anyone in the office, i thought it'd get better after it seems they've replaced staff, but no luck. The management company recently bought the neighboring apartment complex and I've seen many improvements being done to those apartments, without fixing the ones they have at home. As for the bathrooms, they are ridiculously small with barely enough room to place any sort of storage. The apartment is broken apart with hallways, which makes a decent sized space feel cramped. I wouldn't really recommend anyone to these, even with their half off rent offered for friend referral. If they only took pride in their apartments rather than a rent check, they'd find out that these apartments have great potential.
Moved here a couple of months ago and I love it here. The apartments are cute and charming with hardwood floors and plaster walls, crown molding etc. The kitchens are updated and I love that I have a gas stove. The grounds are nicely landscaped, they are pet friendly and the location is perfect! So close to everything nestled in between Mission and Merriam. It's also quiet.
With a massive sewage leak in the basement and cockroach problems this apartment complex leaves allot to be desired. Rent is expensive for what we deal with.
