If you’ve ever seen a John Hughes movie, you’ve probably seen a little bit of Northbrook. The acclaimed director was a Northbrook native, and most of his films were either partially filmed in town or based on the community’s all-American suburban atmosphere.
Forty minutes north of Chicago near the shores of Lake Michigan, Northbrook is a fairly upscale village popular with commuters. The local schools are absolutely top-notch, and the crime rate is quite low. Outdoor recreation is at your fingertips, with numerous golf courses and large public parks like Potawatomi Woods all around town. Interstates 94 and 294 and rail service from Shermer Northbrook Metra Station make it easy to get anywhere in the region.
