Sitting on the easternmost point of Long Island, Montauk has long served as a destination for folks seeking the tranquil and scenic environment of the Atlantic coast. Much of the village is covered by large nature preserves, with protected beaches and forests within just a few blocks of anywhere in town.
The area known as the Plaza forms the centerpiece of the village, surrounded by a diverse collective of locally-owned shops and restaurants: Enjoy your morning brew at Left Hand Coffee, drop into The Saltbox for a fresh seafood feast, or swing by Montauk Brewing Company for a craft pint.
To the north, another cluster of bars and restaurants surrounds Lake Montauk; this area is also home to several marinas, and offers ferry service out to Block Island.
