For commuters, Wheaton is just 26 miles west of Downtown Chicago, and the Metra provides a car-free commuting solution.
Wheaton is a terrific suburban city with several landmarks. The Grand Theater, build in 1925, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Town Square Shopping Center provides an outdoor venue filled with shops and restaurants, and the Cosley Zoo is a great (and free for Wheaton Park District residents) place to spend time, especially with kids. Dating back to 1891, the DuPage County Historical Museum provides a gallery, a library room, and an auditorium.
