Grand Lake, sometimes referred to as the Grand Lake District, is one of the last remaining historic areas of Oakland. Nestled along Interstate 580 in northern Oakland, you’ll recognize the area for the unmistakable Grand Lake Theater. The theater is one of the East Bay Area’s biggest landmarks, namely for its neoclassical architecture and signature marquee. Grand Lake residents enjoy an almost small-town atmosphere with a walkable layout combined with long-standing homes and landmarks within this signature East Bay neighborhood.
Grand Avenue remains the neighborhood's main thoroughfare with most other streets winding through the hillsides. You’ll find historic homes and apartments in free-standing buildings. Commuting into San Francisco is easy thanks to the interstate to the south, Interstate 580. Residents also have access to public transportation via BART to commute around the rest of Oakland.
