Positioned twenty miles west of Detroit, the city of Wayne is a classic industrial community that still thrives on the auto industry that brought the region to prominence and prosperity. The Ford Motor Company’s Michigan Assembly Plant and Wayne Stamping & Assembly Plant have operated on the west side of town for over half a century, and still employ thousands of locals. Just a few blocks away, the landscape is filled by tranquil residential neighborhoods, with affordable apartments and single-family homes lining the streets.
In the small Downtown district along Michigan Avenue, the landmark Phoenix Theatre has served the community for over 70 years and continues to screen first-run movies in a vintage setting. Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport sits just south of town and Detroit proper is only a short drive away, making it easy to take a little excursion out of town for a few hours or a few days.
