Daytona Beach Shores is a small beach town covering about one mile of the Atlantic coastline just southeast of Daytona Beach proper. Situated on a barrier island, the locals enjoy all the benefits of a true beach lifestyle: sunrises over the ocean every day, bountiful fresh seafood, and leisure time filled with boating, surfing, and simply lounging in the sun.
The beachfront is mostly lined with high-rise condos, with more suburban-style homes toward the center of the island and along the Intracoastal Waterway. The city has a robust commercial sector, which includes grocery stores, hardware stores, banks, and other practical vendors not commonly seen in similar communities geared heavily toward tourism—this makes it quite convenient to run errands without having to drive back to the mainland.
