Madeira Beach is a small Gulf Coast community roughly halfway between Clearwater and St. Petersburg. The city serves largely as a home for year-round residents, with few tourism-focused hotels and condos compared to many similar beach towns in Florida. However, John’s Pass Village on the south side of town is known regionally as a major nightlife hotspot, and popular bars and restaurants throughout the city attract lots of folks from neighboring communities.
Fishing is one of the most popular local pastimes, and Madeira Beach boasts the biggest grouper haul of anywhere in Florida. The annual Seafood Festival at John’s Pass is a major happening for the community, with tens of thousands of people coming in from around the region every October for a weekend of food, music, and art showcases.
