Fairborn borders Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and is home to Wright State University. Wright-Patterson AFB, originally established in 1917 as Wilbur Wright Field, is home to the National Museum of the United State Air Force. The museum contains the largest collection of aircraft and missiles in the world and is one of the state's most-visited tourist attractions. The Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park contains Huffman Prairie, an 84-acre prairie that was used by the Wright brothers in 1904 to practice flights. Fairborn is considered a suburb of Dayton, which is roughly 10 miles southwest.
Apartments in Fairborn are very popular -- and not just because of the university and Air Force base. This terrific city features several beautiful parks, easy access to I-675, and a family-friendly community that features several festivals and events throughout the year.
