Property Ratings at Burton Ridge Apartments
if you read any of these reviews please read this one. DO NOT APPLY HERE!!!! Most of these reviews are years old before the new management was in. My roommates and I were looking for a new bigger place, and stumbled upon burton ridge. We took a tour and Koral gave us the applications that day saying if we got them in the same day/soon they'd hold the place and process our applications quickly and first. After this however, they became extremely unresponsive. We would have to contact them every time we needed an update, which would usually be around 4 days at a time. They did not call us more than twice. Every time we would call, we would be informed we needed more proof of income/proof of residence etc., which we would get them immediately and then would be followed up by another week of silence, then to be told they needed something else, etc. This whole time we weren't searching for other places because they kept telling us they were holding the place and everything was looking good. Last week they finally told us everything looked good but they still needed to talk to corporate for the final say and we made it very clear to them that our lease at our current place ends extremely soon and we need an answer quickly. Corporate was obviously in no rush because they took another 3-4 days to get back to us, in which they again told us they need more info. We have to be out of our current place in 4 days and it feels like they are just dragging out the process on purpose so we give up, which we did. We are 3 younger guys and honestly feel like they don't want to rent to us because they feel like we will not pay/destroy the place, which is incredible because I make more than enough to pay the rent on my own and have great credit/no bad rental history. Either that or they are just extremely lazy and terrible at their jobs. We are now scrambling to find another place in only a few days because they led us on for a month instead of just telling us we should look elsewhere.
My partner and lived at Burton Ridge for about 1-1/2 years. We moved from Chicago to Grand Rapids and Koral, from the leasing office, made us feel at home from day one. The only reason that we moved out is so that my partner could attend nursing school near Detroit. Burton Ridge has several different types of apartments and townhomes. I lived in one of the "luxury apartments." The layout of the apartment was spacious and it was clear there was a lot of attention to detail in the construction of the building and the apartment itself. We felt that maintenance requests were handled in a timely manner and completed in a quality way. We thoroughly enjoyed taking walks through the property. The trees and ponds made it feel as if we were not in a city. As a bonus, our balcony faced the woods and we enjoyed a view of nature from our dining room.
Special shout out to Koral, the property manager, who has been there since 2018. Koral and the team CARE for the residents. They take time to get to know you and are always very communicative. Maintenance is also top notch - they take care when entering your home and respond quickly. The place is also in a quiet, safe, and secluded area with the most beautiful property grounds including ponds, a central arched bridge, gazebo, and much more. I lived here from 2014-2022. Wish I could take Koral with me. Absolute best property manager.
This is my second year living in Burton Ridge and I have to say I love this place. It is so close to everything, grocery stores, schools, restaurants, hospitals, downtown. The management is AMAZING. They are always willing to help as quickly as possible and are very kind. My apartment is a little old but nothing terrible like things falling apart or walls breaking. We've asked for couple replacements due it just being old and BR management has done their best to replace it for us.
I have been here 2.5 years and only leaving because of a job move. From day one, it has been great. Koral gave me lots of good info and it felt like she paid special attention to my application. At first, the rent seemed a little on the high side BUT it INCLUDES an in-unit washer and dryer, a garage, and there was not an additional "cat" rent. I wish I could move this place and these people with me. Thanks Debbie and Koral!
I have lived in the same townhouse on this property, since 2012. I have seen management teams come and go. But i tell you....There’s something about Debbie! She is by far the best property Manager, that I have met. She is seriously on top of things. And wants the best for people that live here. And I also like , sweet Coral that has been working at the office for years. Great job and commitment, ladies!
Visited a friend here a few days ago. Great location and looks decent on the outside. Very old wallpaper is peeling in the main hallways and the hand rails are very unstable. Inside of apartment was very spacious and you could hardly hear hallway traffic or neighbors. LOTS of geese and geese poo
Burton Ridge is a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of Grand Rapids. Our apartment backs up to a wooded area and we see an array of animals including deer on a daily basis. The complex is well kept and the apartments are beautiful! There are nice features that you wouldn’t expect in an apartment such as high end appliances, nice wood trim, hardwood floors, ceramic bathroom tiles, soaking tub, and much more!! Burton Ridge is a wonderful place to call home!
Debi was absolutely phenomenal throughout the process of selecting my new apartment. From the numerous phone calls to the multiple apartments walk-through, she was dedicated to making sure I found the perfect fit for what I was looking for. She was incredibly helpful answering questions and exceeding my expectations. She was a huge reason I kept interest in Burton Ridge and finally signed. Keep her! Moreover, the new apartments are exceptionally nice and SPACIOUS.
The older apt have thin floors and thin walls. Primary clientele is old people, who don't want any noise or students who want cheap apt. I made the mistake and that's why i dont want anyone else to make the same mistake. Living a nightmare neighbor, before leasing here, inquire on who your neighbors are, especially if you have small kids. In general the apt size is good, finishes are also okay. There is a small gym as well with cardio machines.
The apartments are very nice. They ask residents to be respectful with noise levels for those that work different shifts than them. The maintainance crew was quick to respond to any service requests. The ladies in the leasing office were extremely helpful. Would definitely live here again.
Moved in here a few months ago and so far it has been awesome. We were apprehensive about living in a complex as we havent lived in one for approximately 25 yrs or so. We are so happy we choose this one. We looked at quite a few in GR but decided on this one due to the location ( close to 28th and malls) and because we drove thru numerous times and it was ALWAYS very quite. The townhouses are perfect and the layouts use every square inch. The management is awesome and maintence is on point with any problems. The grounds are meticulously kept. Everyone makes you feel right at home. We are proud to call pur new home Burton Ridge.
Burton Ridge isn't kidding when they say they have the largest units in the area! One bedrooms in the beautiful new area are almost 1200sf and the 2 bedrooms are pushing 1300sf! They have lots and lots of choices as well, like carpet or hard floors, townhomes or apartments, ponds to look out on or secluded wood views. This is the most convenient location to shopping, all kinds of restaurants, schools, etc. I've only been here about 8 months and I absolutely love it. The grounds are always immaculate. Parking is free with covered and/or full garages on all the new ones - some on the older ones. There's a beautiful pool (although its almost time to close that for winter), a gorgeous clubhouse for party rentals, and a small (but very adequate) fitness center -- the fitness room is open 24-7 too. If your goal is to find the best place to live in GR, you need to come to Burton Ridge right away!
I’ve lived here almost 9 years and they are amazing. They take great care of everything and are quick to respond when there is a maintenance issue.
I could not have asked for a better place to live. From the friendly and accommodating staff, to the spacious and well-designed apartment, to the gorgeous setting, Burton Ridge immediately felt like home. I am in one of the new units, and as you can see from the photos, they are spectacular: beautiful floors, a walk in closet with solid shelving, a huge laundry room, and an incredible kitchen. And Burton Ridge really cares about its tenants. They even decided not to put in laminate floors in the apartments on the second and third floors so they could keep the noise level down for the floors below. Who does that? The location is excellent for me -- very close to 28th Street shopping, government services, and the post office, and yet once you turn off East Beltline and then turn into Burton Ridge, you're in a pastoral setting with lots of trees and ponds. When I was being shown the place, I was continually stunned by all the extras. For my apartment, the huge garage is included, security deposit was more than reasonable, there was no administrative fee (some complexes charge as much as $200) -- on and on. I felt welcome as soon as I showed up, and continue to be every time I go to the office. One time, I was sitting waiting to speak to one of the staff, and a maintenance person walked by, stopped, and asked if there was anything he could do for me. Amazing. For me, especially because I was moving to Grand Rapids and feeling overwhelmed (and somewhat disappointed) with all the choices for apartments, finding Burton Ridge was the luckiest things that's happened.
While I was not able to obtain the apartment that I had initially wanted (some lucky soul bet me to the punch). I was able to get a great deal of information from the leasing agent, whose name I forgot, but had a great smile. She took time to answer all of my questions and did not make me feel rushed or as if I was a bother. While I was in the tiny office that she assured me was only temporary because they have new offices being renovated, I witnessed 3-4 residents coming in to make what I assume were rent payments. Each person was welcomed and they genuinely seemed to like this young lady. One of the grounds crew came in to quick grab a piece of candy and said, "See how awesome it is to work here!" She jokingly told him break time was over but then introduced him to me. I felt like even though I didn't live here, I sure wanted to! The flowers and landscaping was beautiful and it seemed so quiet for being off two fairly busy streets. I sure hope that something else opens up there soon because I would certainly love to call this place home!
We have lived here for 2 years now, and absolutely love it. The grounds are so well kept, it makes you feel as though you're living in a park. The staff is friendly and always quick to tend to any maintenance issues. Grounds are kept clean of snow and well manicured in the summer. The apartment itself is spacious (3 bedroom), has plenty of storage (additional private storage off the laundry room is also included), and the side-by-side sliding windows opens everything up to make it feel even larger and even more open. Noise is not an issue for us, our unit is located over the large pond, and while we can hear traffic, it's more of a distant hum. I love that our walls are painted a light tan color rather than "apartment white"...everything is warm and homey. We have a newer kitchen, which has a good amount of cabinets, newer cream colored carpet and new light fixtures. Our unit is larger than most standard 3 bedroom ranch-style homes. Anyone who enters our apartment exclaim over how homey and spacious it is and can't get over the view we have from our huge deck. We feel very blessed to have found Burton Ridge. Don't let the dated outward appearance of the buildings detour you from coming inside! These are very well maintained apartments that are kept updated and well cared for inside.
We lived in a two bed, one bath apartment on the first floor. We were lucky to have a recently updated kitchen and appliances- they were replaced about 1.5 years ago when we moved in. We didn't have laundry in the apartment, but it was literarily next door (it would be easier to walk to the room next door than downstairs in a house)! We always appreciated the maintenance- they replaced things quickly the one or two times we had any issues, and they kept the grounds in excellent condition. The carport roofs and the retaining wall were both fixed quickly while we lived here. Our gas a electric bills were very reasonable and our apartment always stayed warm! The manager, Bill, is very friendly and easy to work with and he calls every so often just to check in- we loved that! We moved because of my husbands job, not because we were ready to leave Burton Ridge-- we will certainly miss it!
Overall, Burton Ridge Apts were a great place to live. I lived in one of the older buildings, and besides some issues with the A/C and the noise next to Burton St and the East Beltline, everything was very nice. The maintenance was great, the staff very friendly, and the price amazing, not to mention the storage space.
This apartment is one of the best apartments in Grand Rapids. I strongly recommend it to you. Caution: The apartments in road sides have some noise.
