Property Ratings at Butler Place
I want to warn anyone who is considering moving here. I have lived in this builiding for a couple years now and cannot move due to financial difficulties, but wish more than anything that I could. The apt building has undergo several management changes, more recently less than a year ago. It is now managed by Indy Collective Property. They are better than some of the prior management companies, but in this past year alone we went without hot water for at least a week in the dead of winter. We went without heat for at least two weeks, also in the dead of winter. The heat itself is wonky - does not always work so expect cold frequent cold nights. Recently they forced everyone to have Xiber internet, with an additional $50 mandatory monthly charge. I paid less for my spectrum internet. My kitchen sink was clogged for weeks and unusable - no urgency to fix it. Even when I moved it was obvious that there was no cleaning/painting done from the previous tenant - the fridge literally still had food in it from the previous tenant, in addition to a broken microwave and half working stove.
Do NOT move here you will DEFINITELY regret it. No air conditioning. They shut heat off. Nice everywhere in basement. Filthy dirty laundry room they never empty the trash. No parking. Doors aren’t locked. Homeless living in the basement. Old crappy windows with no screens and very dishonest rude Middletown Management company attempting to run it
It has been entirely impossible to get ahold of anyone at this property or the sister property of Irvington Suites. I was led on for at least a month while trying to get an apartment at Irvington Suites. This one is no better, of course. I certainly would not have paid the application fee if I would have known. They said that I qualified, and then poof, nothing , no one. There are further details but I will stop here. Is too bad because I really want to move back to Irvington. I am still highly upset about how I was treated. I get disability and even though I don't require any assistance from the landlord, I wonder if this is why they stood me up and never got back with me.
We lived here for a year. I’m sad to write this review but I don’t want anyone to be take. advantage of and left in a bad situation like we were. There is no communication with management. Their office is in Carmel and after driving to Carmel multiple times not once was anyone ever in the office who could do anything. There was a flood a few weeks back that destroyed many units and little was done about it. The ceilings were caving in and mold is so bad you can smell it when you open the doors to the building. Multiple units/common areas have broken windows. We had a problem with bugs constantly getting in as the windows never properly sealed. (Which also made it harder to heat/cool) This is a beautiful building with no management, no upkeep, and no communication living here is putting yourself into a bad situation. I would not recommend to anyone.
