York is a charming small city positioned thirty minutes from Harrisburg and around two hours from Philadelphia. The city’s architecture is one of its most distinctive features, with stunningly preserved buildings dating back to the colonial period.
While York is rich with history, the city has seen major developments even since the turn of the 21st century—Santander Stadium, home of the York Revolution baseball team, is a fairly recent development, and now serves as one of the city’s most popular attractions. Venues like the Appell Center for the Performing Arts and the Capitol Theatre regularly host everything from touring national musicians to rare film screenings.
One of the most popular events of the year is the York Fair, one of the oldest festivals of its kind in the nation. The surrounding countryside offers ample opportunities to get away from it all, even for just an afternoon.

Property Ratings at Buttonwood Gardens Apartments
I don't know about all other types of floors, but this applies for the 2 Beds with 1Bath: The bedroom in the 3D that contain a door and a window leading to the balcony, is not having that in the reality, it's has only a door. that's a problem because if you want to have some fresh air you will have all kind of insect getting in, specially in the summer. also you can't just open the door and go if you need some fresh air. this could make a big difference specially for those who come from far distance, because they can't figure out that in the photos.
My fiance and I came away impressed with Buttonwood Gardens after meeting with Brianna and getting a tour of the property. It's a very beautiful development when you drive onto friendship avenue. I love to cook and was impressed with the layout of the kitchen. It's got plenty of space for hosting dinner parties. Management have answered any questions or concerns with satisfaction. Maintenance came out right away after there was an issue with the kitchen sink. Overall a nice place to call home.
I've lived here twice in the past 13 years, when I first moved to Pennsylvania in 2006 and most recently after a divorce. There was a reason I returned to this particular apartment community when life decided I needed to start over. The apartments are modern, the neighbors are friendly, the office is attentive, and repairs happen within a couple days. I've yet to find anywhere in the area as modern, clean, and hospitable as Buttonwood Gardens. There are different floor plans available and in both that I've resided, there has been plenty of space for the monthly lease price. I've had friends marvel at the size of my full bathroom. You could practically live in there it's so big. The bedrooms and kitchen are equally as spacious. The neighborhood is clean and it's a great place for kids to grow up in with a great community, nearby schools, and parks. I particularly love all the different events the office staff put on so we get to know our neighbors. They also have a fitness room and a room to host small events! I would not hesitate to recommend Buttonwood Gardens to friends and family as an affordable and modern place to reside in south central PA. They just listed a couple really nice apartments that were upgraded. If you are looking for an apartment, I'd hurry! PS. They are pet friendly!

We love reading such positive feedback! Thank you very much for this review of Buttonwood Gardens. We’re so pleased to hear that you returned to our community. That speaks volumes! We appreciate all of your praise, and we look forward to you continuing to have an enjoyable stay with us!
I recently moved here in April. I am impressed w how much I like the area and my surroundings. I lived in the city for about a year and I am so extremely happy I made the decision to move. I am not originally from this area so this was a blind move for me. I love my apartment and set up. I have not had any issues w noise or neighbors. I love how clean and well taken care of the apartment grounds are. My interaction with the office staff has always been professional and pleasure to work with. I like the idea of involving the community in holidays and ways to bring us all together by having yard sale days, and community events. I do like the gym area especially on weekends when I don't feel like traveling to the my gym which is a fifteen minute drive. I'm very happy w this apartment and area. So glad I made this move and I plan on staying in this area for a long time.

We appreciate this five-star review of Buttonwood Gardens! It's fantastic to know that you're happy with our spacious apartments. Thank you for choosing to make your home in our community, we look forward to you continuing to enjoy your home for years to come!
When I first moved in, it took them 8-9 weeks to make the initial repair visit to the apartment. In the 8-9 weeks, I made 6-7 appointments with the leasing apartment with times and dates for them to come fix the issues. Each time, I asked for them to call me prior to the repairman coming so I could crate my dog. It wasn't until after two months of me living there did they make a sudden unannounced visit to my home. The un-uniformed repairman pushed past me and entered my apartment, and tried to pet my dog by lunging at it. My dog reacted as any dog would and growled and barked at the man. In the confrontation, he nicked his hand. Hours later, I get a notice that my dog is being evicted due to my dog having "attacked the repairman." When I went to the office to dispute the claim, the manager said that my dog had "run around the kitchen five times and bit a hole in the repair man's hand" and that she "had the documents to prove it." She also waved her hands at me and shouted that she "wasn't afraid to use [her] lawyers" to "get that dog out of here." She then said that she had "records from the county and from corporate" that my dog was "a menace to society." She also demanded that if I "did not remove the dog permanently within 24 hours," she would "enter the apartment unannounced to do spot checks on whether or not the animal was still present." After moving out at the end of my lease term, they still charged me incorrectly $106 for their own carpet cleaning though I submitted the receipt for professional carpet cleaning after I moved out AS REQUESTED AND REQUIRED BY MY LEASE AGREEMENT. They also threw away all mail I had received after vacating the apartment a couple weeks prior to my lease ending. So though the apartment was empty, I still legally had the apartment under my name. But somehow they thought it'd be a great idea to just toss any and all mail and packages I received. Also, should I mention, I did keep the apartment in tip-top shape. Even the carpet cleaner was surprised with the condition I left the apartment in. So by right, I should've gotten my deposit back, minus the last month of utilities. Seriously, RP management and Buttonwood Gardens has been a demonstrably horrid company to work with and is awful to their tenants. They've been dismissive and rude. If I could give them negative stars, I would. Stay away from this company and their properties. Especially if you have pets and want your deposit back.
If you're cool with wasp and rat infestations then yeah... great place to live
This was the worst apartment complex I have ever lived in. My father had a stroke so I was forced to not renew my lease at its expiration. They still wanted a 2 months written notice as if I was supposed to know my dad was going to have a stroke. They are forcing me to pay 2 months of rent even tho I am not living here anymore. The management does not see the tenants as people. They only see them as dollar signs. They will bleed you dry with a smile on their face.

Thank you so much for your review. Your situation is very important to us. We are very sorry to hear about your Father, and we wish him a speedy recovery and lots of support for your family. Please reach out to the Community Manager and she can go over some options with you about your lease agreement. Again, we are so sorry for your experience here and we hope to hear from you soon.
This is probably the worst place to ever live. The walls are so thin that you can hear every movement/conversation that goes on with your neighbors. It's ridiculous. Definitely overpriced.

Thank you so much for your feedback. Your experience at Woodgate is extremely important to us and we apologize for anything that might have negatively impacted you during your residency with us. In addition, we would like to sincerely thank you for living here and wish you the best of luck in the future.
The layout of the apartment is nice and the grounds are well kept, but the smell from the sewer plant and the noise from all my neighbors was awful. My next door neighbor worked 2nd shift, so when he got home after midnight it woke me up; my downstairs neighbor got up at 4:30 and took his shower and I heard that and I could hear their televisions loud and clear! But there is always something going on - lots of kids running around playing on the sidewalks outside my window and visits from the police for domestic abuse or drugs - it wasn't boring!

I would like to take the time to apologize for any disturbances that were an inconvenience. If you would like to contact our Office, I would love to talk about these issues further, so we are able to control and prevent any Lease violations that are on-site. As, our Office has a great relationship with the local Police Department, we are usually knowledgeable to any disturbances and take care of the issue in a timely manner. Thank you for taking the time to write a review. It’s greatly appreciated.
Buttonwood Gardens does not view their tenants as people, they only view them as sources of income. Your rent will increase at every lease renewal. If you are okay with this, Buttonwood is a decent place to live. My wife and I have been great tenants for more than 3 years and have brought several other tenants to Buttonwood Gardens in that time. We were approaching the time to renew our lease, as we were searching for houses, and we explained to Buttonwood that we did not know if we would find a house in 1 month or 6. Buttonwood forced us into signing a new lease with the following options. Buttonwood's options were either 2 month leases at 33% of our normal lease rate or a 6 month rate at roughly 5% increase. We chose the 6 month lease. At 2 weeks into our lease term, we found a house and needed to break the lease early. Buttonwood's terms were that we would need to give 2 month's notice before we can move out, plus another 3 months of rent for the early break. If you're keeping track of the math, that's 5 total months of rent to break a 6 month lease. If you are a new tenant to Buttonwood, the lease break is 5 months rent (4 months @ 2 years, 3 @ 3 years). After repeated attempts to come to a reasonable conclusion with RP Management and Buttonwood, they were unwilling to work with us and are demanding over $5,000 in fees. As I mentioned earlier, they do not view their tenants as people, but merely as sources of income.

We completely understand that house hunting can definitely by a challenge, especially when it comes to picking a settlement date. As it is a struggle sometimes to correspond a settlement date with a lease end date, we offer many different renewal options. As our office discusses with everyone, you can sign a short or long term lease agreement at time of renewal. This would include a 2 month (month to month0 6, 9, 12, and 15 month lease options. Yes, the shorter terms may come at a higher rate, but our 2 month (month to month) option allows you to stay on that Lease Agreement for up to a year with the flexibility to vacate at any time with the two full calendar months notice to vacate. Unfortunately, we don't allow any lease breaks without penalty unless it's for medical, military deployment, and death of a resident/lease holder, but we do offer a buy-out agreement option. If you'd like to contact our office, we would be more than happy to go over both options and help decide which one is best for you. Kind regards, Buttonwood Garden Apartments
While I love the layout of the apartments, the area, and the people that work in the office, it cannot outweigh hearing everything my upstairs neighbor does. Every step they take I can hear, the floorboards squeak horribly. I can hear them stomp up the stairs. I can hear their couch squeak when they sit on it. I can hear them shut their kitchen cabinets. I can constantly hear their dog running back and forth. I can hear them lift the lid on their toilet. It sounds like a waterfall when they flush their toilet. I can hear them talking and their TV. I hear all this with my TV on trying to drown out all their noise. Terribly constructed apartments. CANNOT WAIT TO MOVE OUT!
I really like these apartments! I've never had any problems with the management. The one time I needed maintenance for my air conditioner the maintenance man wasn't certified to fix hvacs so he gave me a portable and I had to wait until a week day. Other than that everything is good! I rarely hear any of my neighbors through the walls. The kitchen could use a little updating but it's not that bad. Compared to other apartments in the York area I think this is one of the top apartment complexes.
My family moved into the Buttonwood Garden Apartments about 2 months ago. We have a two bedroom with one and a half bath. So far we haven't had any issues. The maintence crew is very fast with work orders, the leasing office is always nice and friendly. The groundskeep is spot on with the mowing schedule. The leasing office has a community room available to renters for parties and what not. Theres also a gym available 24/7. We are .25miles away from a very clean and friendly park (The Clayton Eli Emig Park). Buttonwood allowes all breeds of dogs with no restrictions. Any pet over 15lbs must be in a downstairs apartment. I would highly recommend this apartment complex to a small family just starting out!
Good neighbors and location. The only problem was no screen door to the back patio so we went Home Depot to buy the materials and built one for about $30.
