The Highlands/Perkins neighborhood of Baton Rouge is located just south of downtown, nestled into the curves of the Mississippi River. A relatively upscale area, Highlands/Perkins offers a range of mid-rise apartments and single-family homes that showcase the best the Bayou State has to offer. A convenient location just across Interstate 10 from Downtown Baton Rouge means residents will always be close to the action. The neighborhood is also home to Louisiana State University, and there’s a welcome youthful energy courtesy of the campus and its students. There are diverse cuisines to explore including Cajun and Creole foods near the university and just off the interstate. Breweries have sprung up near the river and there are well-maintained parks to explore both near the water and closer to Downtown Baton Rouge.

Property Ratings at Cambridge Apartments
I have been leasing from this company for some time now, I don't have any issues with getting my items repaired or any issues with the neighbors. Everyone experience is different, but I must say I'm satisfied with the property and the up keep of it.
Management smile at your face until the day you sign the contract. After then, they magically become ignorant, arrogant, and rude people. I have at least 5 issues about my apartment right now (at least 2 of them are emergent, such as leaking) , but even though I reported them multiple times, nobody comes to fix it. Everytime I go to their office they tell me that they will going to send someone as soon as possible, but they don't send anyone. I regret so much choosing Cambridge apts. If you haven't done such a mistake yet, don't ever think about moving in.
Stay away from this complex if you don't like dealing with rude irresponsible people. I have never seen such unorganized, messy and impolite employees in any other places!
I've been living at this complex for four years now, and I have seen at least 3 different sets of managers come and go. Some have been okay, others have not. However, I'd say that overall, everyone has been nice. The maintenance staff is competent enough to fix everyday occurrences, but sometimes I have had to call multiple times about the same issue. There are decent washers and dryers on the property, but no connections in the 2BR 1 1/2 Bath. The complex doesn't have a fitness center, but there is a pool. There are convenient dumpsters on the property, and water, trash, and sewage are free. The property is gated, safe, and quiet, but it doesn't have any cameras. That's a big pet peeve but not a deal breaker. Generally, my neighbors have always been quiet, but it is a college community, and on the weekends, there are several nearby clubs that draw somewhat large crowds. The most bothersome issue that I have with the other tenants is that a lot of them cannot drive/park. I wish this complex had assigned parking. It'd make things so much easier. They do provide visitors' parking though. And, during the home games, most of the tenants bring their family members and friends to hog all the visitors' spaces. It's also a nuisance during the home games because you have to kind of plan what route you're going to take to get back to the complex due to the high volume of traffic and detours. The complex itself is less than half a mile from Tiger Stadium, and if you're a student, the Tiger Trails bus comes right by the complex. There's no need to purchase a commuter's decal. I took advantage of the bus route myself and the convenience is unmatched. Highly recommended! Overall, I'd recommend these apartments. They'd more than likely suit a student than any other population group.
This apartment complex is well-situated for college kids since it is on the bus route AND near Tigerland. When I signed the lease I was given a move-in day four months later, per the lease. When I arrived to move-in, they had not taken the necessary steps to prepare the apartment so I moved in while the carpets were being cleaned and could not put anything down on them until 5 hours later when they were moderately drier. We got an infestation of roaches when our next door neighbors relocated to another apartment building down the way from us because their infestation was so bad. No one told us anything about it so we were surprised to find them. We're college students who did a moderately good job of cleaning so the infestation was a nasty surprise. The complex had the apartment sprayed twice but the roaches did not abate. The management for the property is done by people who are not very good at explaining the more complex details and intricacies of the leases. In addition, they are really bad about getting in touch with all of the residents when they want to go in to the apartment. There were 3 distinct times when my roommates and I heard that the landlords/property managers/maintenance crew had gone in with out any notice beyond knocking on the door when they arrived the day of. Not that it was a big deal, but they were going into our home. If they'd given notice ahead of time, it would have been better for everyone. They also asked us to move out of the apartment 2 weeks before the end of the lease because they had leased it to another group to move in the day after we moved out. We of course declined since we need to stay in the apartment the full time and would not be compensated for the rent of the time we were not there or refunded for the rent we already paid. The whole operation would run smoother if there was more communication.
The apartments are in a great location if you are an LSU student, but the customer service at the front desk is inexcusable. There is one lady that is very helpful, while the other is so unhelpful and will talk down to you every time you go into the office for help. My and my roommate are so tired of their rudeness to us that we are leaving the apartment complex. They will always lose your mail and you may or may not ever see it again and they will never take responsibility for it even when you take appropriate actions to avoid your packages and mail getting lost or "misplaced". I can name at least 4 instances when the office lady was completely rude and she makes it very clear she does not want to help you and will in NO way go above and beyond to help you. You'll leave the office every time livid and have had no help form them. I would not choose to live here again because of the service. We had a leak one time and it took over a week for them to send people to permanently fix it. It is inexcusable and ridiculous. The service is awful. I would not live here again until that lady is gone.
