Located between Interstate 805 and Interstate 15, and just 10 miles from Downtown San Diego, Serra Mesa places residents close to the city's major attractions, while enjoying a more relaxed life living in the heart of the city. For entertainment, Serra Mesa is convenient to Sea World, Balboa Park (home of the iconic San Diego Zoo), and Mission Bay. The neighborhood neighbors Mission Valley, a commercial hub with several malls and restaurants. SDDCU Stadium rests just south of the neighborhood. Serra Mesa is also near three medical facilities which are one of the area’s largest employers. Along with several neighborhood parks, Serra Mesa is surrounded by natural areas including Tecolote Canyon Natural Park and Nature Center and Mission Trails Regional Park, a 7,000-plus acre park with miles of trails and a lake. Similar to other San Diego neighborhoods, rentals here are expensive, but there are many options that are significantly cheaper compared to other neighborhoods.

Property Ratings at Cambridge Park
Signed my lease at a decent rate at the time and now they want to increase it to the maximum allowable. Claims it’s below market and it’s not. I can - and have - found better places for the rate they’re asking. Not even offering a re-sign rate lower than going month to month. The unit was not clean when I moved in and had to clean it myself and repairs had to still be made after I had moved in. There’s no security patrol. Security is off-site and won’t get to you until hours later. The complex is not gated either. That said, I haven’t had an issue with vandalism or theft so at least the neighborhood is safe on its own. There’s no guest parking. I do have to give credit to the maintenance staff - they’re great.
We love that our apartment is in a great location, so commute time is easier for work and even for university. This apartment complex's location makes this place the ideal apartment to live in! For instance, there's a Vons, Walmart, PetSmart, Banfield Pet Hospital, and Fry's just a mere hop, skip, and throw away -- many folks just walk to them since they're all less than a mile away. Moreover, within a 5-mile radius are the public library, numerous eateries, wonderful employment opportunities, various universities, an airport to earn your private pilot's license, a hospital, and some cool places to visit. Another highlight of our apartment is the wonderful pet policy -- no breed restrictions and no weight restrictions, plus you can have two pets per apartment! Besides that, there are a number of community events in our apartment complex, like free pizza night and free sundae weekends. Amenities include a fitness center, a pool, a tennis court, as well as a movie theater you can rent to host events for guests. There are many families in our apartment complex, and the neighborhood is great for trick-or-treating. We're also a military family, so this apartment complex is situated close to military family communities (like Murphy Canyon, Serra Mesa, and Linda Vista military housing areas), which is lovely because living in our civilian apartment complex enables us to get to be away from the base and yet still be close to other military families and friends nearby. Yet another positive aspect about this apartment complex is that they provide cash prizes or bonuses for referrals. Plus, there are opportunities to buy and sell items and/or services via the apartment complex's community board. Our apartment complex is also very good about maintenance and upkeep of the common and public grounds -- for example, they just refurbished all the exterior lights in all the apartment buildings and facades, which thereby makes all the common passageways very well-lit for safety. The only downside to our apartment is that because it's such an AWESOME place (this apartment's the best-kept secret to apartment living in San Diego!), rent continually climbs each year making it very, very difficult to set any funds aside for any contingencies or even emergencies. Sooner or later folks are pushed out because of the ever-increasing rent, and you'll be forced to relocate to a cheaper place that could never ever hold a candle to this AWESOMELY wonderful apartment complex.
I lived in Cambridge Park for two years. At first, the apartment was middle of the pack in pricing at 1875 for a two bedroom. With its beautiful crown molding, high ceilings, and walk-in closets, it was amazing for its price. The wooden floors were easy to maintain, the cherry cabinets and stainless steel appliances beautiful. Its pull and barbecques were exquisitely maintained and its plentiful dog waste stations made walking our hound so much better. The winter was a bit cold and the summers hot, thanks to the shoddily fit windows and the the door's lack of a breeze guard. When renewing, they raised my price 110 dollars. This put it near the top for its area, but still under the largest competitors. Come renewal this year, however, the price was raised 150 dollars, putting it on par with its most expensive competitors -- and the price of renting an actual house. Thus, we have regrettably decided to save money and move. Cambridge Park remains an amazing place -- if you can afford it.
Apartment is great! Especially for only being 700 square feet, the layout of the 1/1 is perfect! The only down fall to this community is PARKING! Long wait list for an additional spot, and no guest parking. You have to park outside of the complex. Also alot of the assigned parking spots are extremely small.
I love living in the Cambridge Park Apartments. They are located in the center of San Diego but up the hill above Qualcomm Stadium in a well maintained quite neighborhood. They offer large apartments with lots of amenities. The complex has tennis courts, pool, jacuzzi, business center, putting green and a theater. The units have washer and dryers and are pet friendly. I'm so happy I decided to move to this complex. Anytime I have company over they always love where I live. Some of my friends are thinking about moving here too. I am planning on living here for a long time.
