The mix of cosmopolitan flair and low-key atmosphere once led LA Weekly to speculate that North Hollywood just might be the best place to live in the Los Angeles area. This community has become popular among artists, writers, filmmakers, and actors seeking balance between easy access to Hollywood and a quieter, more suburban home environment.
The local food and bar scene is robust, and the bohemian vibe of the NoHo Art District attracts all manner of offbeat creative types. Uncommon among Los Angeles-area communities, much of North Hollywood is quite walkable, with food, drinks, galleries, and performance venues just a leisurely stroll away from one another. Thankfully for renters, all of the perks of this location come at a relatively affordable cost. Most renters pay an average of $2,282 to rent in North Hollywood, about $500 less than the Los Angeles average.

Property Ratings at Camellia
I lived here a few years back. When I first found the apartment, it was a dream come true. But, like many other reviews on here, I soon saw that all was not as great as it seemed. In 3 years of living here, no maintenance or assistance request was ever addressed. My air conditioner broke within 6 months of moving in. My request for repair was toyed with as the maintenance people would only come during the time I had to be at work and if I took the day off to be there, would cancel. I ended up buying my own portable air conditioner. When I asked for an access controller for the parking area within a week of moving in, I was told to buy my own from a company across the valley. The woman who showed the apartment and helped me with my leasing agreement disappeared within a few months and I was never given another contact person. My name was never added on the front and I was never told how to buzz people in, so any time anyone came to visit, they had to call me to come let them in. There were also cockroaches every summer. Also, there were reports of people using drugs in our laundry room (though I was never told we had a laundry room and it was always locked when I tried to use it once I found out). I will say that the tenants were quiet and I rarely had any issues with noise coming through walls or anything like that. But, there's virtually no support here and no communication. I was so happy to move to a real complex with real people in an onsite office to assist me once I could afford something better.
I could've written the other two reviews. Maintenance is like playing where's waldo. I too have appliances that need replacement but they won't do it. When the city came out to inspect the sink instead of replacing it they covered it with paint. Plus, I too put in a request a month ago for blinds. Same situation. Nope again. Today they mishandled my check for the umpteenth time. No apologies. Just lots of threats. Be nice if they acknowledged it just a bit and showed a tiny amount of humanity.
When we first moved here, it was perfect! The location, the interior, everything met our expectations. Fast forward to endless growing mold, poor maintenance repairs, homeless people breaking in to the lobby and sleeping outside tenants doors or in the lower level balconies, and management that is either unresponsive or just plain difficult and who penalize tenants for their wrongdoings and mishandling of payments/paid deposits. Repairs are never made properly or in a timely manner. The only good thing about living there, were the incredible neighbors. The tenants are lovely. The management and building, not so much.
When we moved in the first 3 or 4 months was good then after that there was a few problem with the plumbing and the blinds keep falling out of the hook they never fixed it when I asked for someone to come and replace it we have been here for a year and half and our sink is still broken and blinds are still messed up I have to put tape for it to stay up
