Beloved for its proximity to both the Jersey Shore and New York City, the central region of Middlesex County sits about 40 miles southwest of Midtown Manhattan. Nearby New Brunswick, home to Rutgers University, provides access to a rich, local arts and culture hub. This neighborhood is ideal for those seeking a quiet, suburban setting not far removed from nearby entertainment and amenities. Mid- and low-rise apartment communities in the northern section of the neighborhood give way to more single-family homes fit for a variety of renters. Interstate 95 and a host of other thoroughfares make commuting around the area a breeze.

Property Ratings at Camelot at LaMer
False luxury, parking shortage, outdated appliances, poor management, limited pool access, thin walls, lack of security, neglectful maintenance, money-driven pet policy. Avoid Camelot at La Mer.
Do NOT move here. The walls/ ceiling are paper thin and soooooo loud. When I'm on work calls the people I'm talking to can hear my neighbors walking around upstairs. I grew up in apartments filled with kids and I've never experienced anything like this. I have sent five emails and two phone calls over the past 6 months or so and never even received a response from the office once. Our leases stipulate that 85% of the hardwood floors have to be covered with carpet . When the walls are this thin that's a great rule but they don't enforce it and living in this place is a nightmare. I'm dealing with the neighbors from hell upstairs. As far as I can tell three generations are up there, people stomp in and out all hours of the night. Twice, I tried to ring the doorbell to ask them nicely to keep it down but instead goy yelled at because the dudes mom doesn't like it when people come to the door. Even better he likes to his rev his motorcycle in a closed garage for about half an hour a day and the vibration it creatures is so bad that it knocked my TV off the shared wall and I no longer can hang pictures in an entire room in our apartment. I get it people make noise. But we all have to live together and when you have 3 generations, a toddler that only runs on its heels and has no bedtime, a motorcycle AND a management company that ignores your requests for help... You will start regretting moving here the first week. I work from home and now have to go to the library everyday because of the how crappily these places are built. The day-to-day frustration greatly cancels out access to a pool and a clubhouse with a gym. Those things don't matter when you can't sleep or work in your own home. Throw in how small the garages are ( every car is banged up from trying to squeeze into their own garage and all the garage walls are scratched up from the cars that don't fit) and the lack of guest or second car parking and you will regret moving here. True, the rent here is not insanely high but it's still too high to live under conditions like this. The fact that I'm now speaking to a lawyer about getting out of my lease because my apartment is unlivable during the day... Any savings I might have had on the rent are now long gone. Look elsewhere Thank me later
They dont fix anything. They like to put bandaids on problems and walk away. The maintence mgr is lazy . The parking is horrible. Definitely NOT a luxury rental community
Parking and traffic throughout the complex is ridiculous - can’t find anything ever. These are supposed to be “luxury” apartments and all we get in ours is bugs, ants, 1000-leggers. Also, the power in our apartment shuts down once a month consistently. For no reason.
The snow removal is almost non existent! The management only seems to care about collecting rent. The apartments are outdated and the walls are paper thin.People come and go constantly there is dog poop and cars being stolen at night. There are no cameras or anything! Went on a tour of the property snow and ice everywhere Stay away
The reviews I’ve seen from other people can’t be true.... seriously, I’ve been living here for a little over two years now. I don't know where these other people were living or how things were years back, but I can tell you my experience has been beyond incredible. From the day I took the tour of the apartment with one of the leasing agents to the day I signed to the day I got my keys, the process with the office has been transparent, fast and efficient. Not only did I get a beautiful apartment that has updated cabinetry and countertops and has spacious rooms, my washer and dryer is awesome. I get to hang out at the pool which is clean and very well-kept with some really great neighbors. The complex always does something for the holidays whether for kids with Santa or a Halloween party or cookouts for the summer time to get to know your neighbors. I have never been in any other complex that has been as engaged with their residents as Camelot has been. I have met the property manager, Tracy and her assistant manager Melissa, Wes, Sabrina and Bob in the leasing office plus with all the maintenance guys- Christian, Rich, Anthony. I see them every morning at 8 with the trash cans picking up after residents. We even have a community mayor that plans events and she’s what embodies community at Camelot. No other place in Sayreville (except their other property Town Lake) is as nice in my opinion.
The staff at Camelot is Excellent!!! Tracey is an amazing Manager. Melissa is a true asset to the community, she is very professional and always eager to help. Matthew is very attentive to all the maintenance needs, his extremely professional. It is a pleasure living in Camelot. It gives us great comfort knowing that this staff is here for us. Looking forward to another year of wonderful customer service.
I'm in my 50's but have a young stepson so 50 community would be awful for him. We moved to Camelot last year and we really like it and there are a ton of kids for him to hang out with. Basketball, tennis, swimming open area's to play catch of wiffleball. Nice Gyms plenty of room for hiking in the back. Only setback is parking can be tough but you always find a spot. The maintenance crew are there when they say and do a nice job after it snows. I see some complaints on the website but they must be living somewhere else. Good neighbors always looking out for each other. It's a good place for me and my family.
My wife and I moved in when the apartment was newly built, and have lived here for 3 years. Overall, it's been a fairly positive experience, although there have been several reoccurring issues that vary from minor to major annoyances. I can't comment on the value of the apartment too much, since I'm not overly familiar with prices in the area, but it felt fair to us. The Good: -Size: It's a big apartment, and well-set up to give a nice open feeling. -Laundry, heating, and air conditioning: There are laundry machines (newer ones) in the unit, which is a necessity in our eyes. You also control your own heating and air conditioning. -Location: The proximity to useful places is pretty good. 10-20 minutes to all of train station, parkway, Wegmans, 2 malls, and a Trader Joes a little further. -Safety: Safe neighborhood. Single door to enter, but it has handle-lock, deadbolt, and chain lock. -Appliances: Appliances are all pretty new, and work well. -Community facilities: Pool and two tennis courts. -Rent: Seemed like a pretty fair price to us. Rent went up $30 a year, which is approximately in-line with inflation. There was also a $200 per month surcharge if you extended your lease (month-to-month). -Events: Barbecues at pool, events at nearby places - free to residents, and sometimes open bar. They give out prizes of money off of rent as well, though not much. The Bad: -Parking: Apartments get only 1 spot, town houses can fit two cars, but they don't use it. Parking lot always full after 5. -Noise: Floor and ceiling are cheap and thin, walls are okay. Recommend the top floor or townhouse. -Insulation and mold: Windows developed lots of moisture and mold at the bottom. Front door let wind through the crack (buy a door sweep). Balcony door dripped water onto carpet that grew mold. Took forever for maintenance to fix. -Bugs: Fruit flies, beetles, or spiders, usually around 3-6 a day. -Balcony door: Had to buy our own shade since it didn't come with one. Door is hard to open and near-impossible to close in chillier weather. Overall: I would recommend Camelot at La Mer, but just be aware of what you're getting into. If you go for a townhouse, park your cars in your garage. If you go for an apartment, live on the top floor and try to step quietly. Be prepared to wipe up moisture from the windows in the winter, and kill a few bugs a day in the summer. Other than that, it's a safe neighborhood, a good location, clean apartments, and a decent price.
My apartment complex is amazing its meticulously maintained theirs a beautiful clubhouse with a gym really nice restrooms with showers a beautiful pool plenty of parking the units themselves are beautiful whether it's the apartments or townhouses there spacious upscale have garages and private driveways and the maintenance department and property management are professional and stay on top of things. I live here eight years and love it!!!
