Beloved for its proximity to both the Jersey Shore and New York City, the central region of Middlesex County sits about 40 miles southwest of Midtown Manhattan. Nearby New Brunswick, home to Rutgers University, provides access to a rich, local arts and culture hub. This neighborhood is ideal for those seeking a quiet, suburban setting not far removed from nearby entertainment and amenities. Mid- and low-rise apartment communities in the northern section of the neighborhood give way to more single-family homes fit for a variety of renters. Interstate 95 and a host of other thoroughfares make commuting around the area a breeze.

Property Ratings at Camelot at Townelake
I wish I didn’t have to leave! I have to leave to move closer to work, otherwise I’d stay. The office staff is terrific. The maintenance staff is quick and efficient. Love being right near a lake. It brings so much character to the complex. I looked at this place on a whim before I moved in. I’m so glad I did. Happy to call it home, but so sad to be leaving my 1 bedroom apartment here.
We moved here in 2019 and we love the tranquility, safety and the well-maintained grounds at the Camelot. Don, the maintenance supervisor is amazing. All repairs are completed in a timely manner. The neighbors are pleasant. Our only issue is with the seagulls and the tenants who fail to pick up their dog poop. Parking is included in your rent. Grateful to live here!
My living experience wasn’t bad, but my experience moving out was very bad. First one of the workers yelled at me before even going into the apartment to inspect it. Now I learned that there was a balance of $280 at the end of the lease I wasn’t aware of, and instead of mailing me a bill, calling to tell me it was owed, or even just taking it out of my security deposit, they sent it to collections. I’d happily pay anything owed, all I needed was to be told about it. This management company is rude and disrespectful.
Management is a joke there, the "property manager" has never been seen on site. The assistant manager never leaves her office. So how can a property be managed without the manager leaving the office to inspect things. Maintenance is free to run and do whatever they want all day including taking long lunches and breaks on their phones. You will get towed or a sticker placed on your car for parking without a tag but maintenance can park in a fire zone everyday for 8 hours no problem. Lights were out in buildings for months into years. Street lights our for months, a sign that stated the street name was knocked down and never replaced. Maintenance inspections were never completed, air filters never replaced. Black when they came out. Lack of leadership is seen here.
Place looks beautiful on the outside. Once you get in you find out some things you wish you knew before you moved in. Biggest being the problems they have with birds, seagulls in particular. They have a major problem with them. Hundreds and hundreds of them daily on the lake, crapping on cars, attracting bugs leaving feathers everywhere that get tracked into buildings. Hang out on rooftops of buildings making noise all day. Absolutely gross. Mind you, you pay extra for a waterfront view. Save your money on that! Shared hallways get cluttered with strollers, etc. that mgmt does not enforce removing. Letters go out attempting to enforce rules but nothing every seems to seriously be enforced. Tenants use garages for storage instead of cars and then take up extra prime parking spots with their car. Noisy tenants are tolerated. And the list goes on. Apartments are attractive so it's an easy sell to gain tenants but beware!
This place is beautiful; however, the Seagulls are a serious issue and have become more of an issue as of lately. Crapping on cars, roof tops, balconies. Feathers everywhere. Absolutely disgusting. They eat at the local dump and fly to Townlake and spend the day flying from the rooftops of homes and apartments and into the lake. Had I known there was such a huge problem with these birds, I would never have rented here! Awful!
I have been living here for almost two years and I absolutely love it. Not only do the apartments look beautiful from the outside but the inside as well. Any problems in the apartment I've had, which have not been many, have been quickly fixed by maintenance staff. I see some reviews that say the buildings were poorly built but honestly anything I've noticed have been so minor. If you are on the second floor then the noise level is very minimal. I would recommend choosing a second floor apartment as I previously was on 1st floor. The amenities here are also great and the landscaping is always maintained. I also reallly appreciate that the complex is on the relatively smaller side compared to other places that have so many apartments packed in. There is a beautiful lake that you can walk around and the apartments are also in a great location for commuting to work, as the parkway is close by. The leasing office is extremely helpful as well. Leasing consultant Mary Grace has been extremely kind and helpful in the move from a 1 bedroom to a 2 bedroom. All in all really enjoying renting here!
The people are great, the amenities are first class and the apartment is fantastic. It's on the water lake and it's about few miles from the beach and it's a wonderful quiet place. What a Jersey Shore enjoyment!!! I've got a best leasing experience with their professional leasing consultant-agent MG. She helped me a lot especially on my stress free move in experience. It is a joy living here.
I have been at Camelot at Town Lake for one and half years now and things have changed! I just found out that they are now accepting SECTION 8 tenants. Before I would move to Camelot I asked the question if they would rent to section 8 tenants and the answer was no at this location. Well they lied! After much research, I have confirmed that they are accepting section 8 tenants. There are many issues with insufficient parking spaces and if you come home late at night there are no parking spaces and should you not park in a designated parking spot they will tow your car. If you park at the leasing office and you are there past 9 AM they will tow your car. The problem is many tenants are not parking their cars in the garages and there are not enough parking spots for all the cars. Commercial vans are parked on the property which is not allowed under the lease agreement. The maintenance and management picks winners and looser by protecting some tenets cars that do not run and have been in the parking spot for more then 6 months. There are rules in the lease agreement about parking cars in the garage but management is not enforcing the rules. So be ready to park on the street when there are no parking spots that you are paying for. If you are handicapped sorry there are many here that are not handicapped and park legally. Failure to enforce by management. Dogs are crapping on the grass and sidewalks and maintenance and management fails to clean the waste up or enforce the rules. Cleaning of the hallways has gone from every two weeks to once a month. They now have shut the heat off in the hallways so the tenants can now pay to heat the hallway space for them thus cutting their bill that we pay for. Cleaning of the exercise room is maybe once a month and the garbage just over flows. There is an amenity fee of $300 the first year and $200 every year or $25,600 on the low side for the complex. Their failure to maintain the grills and the fire pit and exercise equipment is unacceptable. The fire pit was closed all winter and just got repaired. The maintenance crew does nothing and not very happy faces. Once last thing they are building this year one building dedicated to section 8. The apartments are nice but I will be moving on. Other than that, it’s a great place.
Looking for a new apartment and visited my friends new place at Camelot at Townelake. Very nice unit and grounds! Color scheme of public space provide a calming and welcoming feel, however there is one major problem and that is the design of the buildings regarding lack of insulation. She lives on 1st floor and the upstairs tenants were extremely noisy! You could hear every foot step and it sounds very disturbing. She has complained to me and not to the office of the consideration of moving because she doesn't like to complain as this is not the only noise issue. For the cost of her apartment, I suggested she inform the management office, but truly what will they do? I heard from someone else there with regards to the same issue in this development. I am now helping her look for a quieter place and to think... She just moved in!!!!
Great looking area nice people nice quiet good shopping stores convenient to go eat something clean spotless grounds nice and relaxing .
great new apartments just built still have that brand new smell with excellent lighting and garages with storage space!! many different style and size apartments to accommodate your price range, pool, fitness center and a bbq area also a children's park and doggie park!!
