Hugging the Congaree River and stretching east, Columbia is a sprawling city with a history dating back to colonial times. Nicknamed the "Capital of Southern Hospitality," Columbia is a welcoming, warm city -- it is also a college town, home to the University of South Carolina. The university is located downtown, covering over 359 acres. The historic, top-ranking university dates back to 1801, but the oldest structure in Columbia is the Seibels House, built around 1796. It currently serves as a house museum.
While there's plenty for college students to do, Columbia provides a variety of activities -- whether you're a golfer, a shopper, or a foodie. Kid-friendly activities are everywhere, from the gorgeous parks to the Riverbanks Zoo and Garden. Unfortunately community is increasingly declining over the years. No upgrades to apartments interior or exterior. Property not as clean, dog waste not picked up, trash in parking lot and common area and dumpsters always over filled. Buildings need to be power waxed, cleaned and painted. Parking lots have potholes and debris. Community functions are not as frequent. Would not consider luxury living as once presented years ago unfortunately.

I'm writing to share my experience living in Canalside Lofts over the past two years. Overall, I've found it to be a wonderful place to call home. The neighborhood is remarkably peaceful and quiet. Since moving in, I haven't experienced any significant disturbances or safety concerns. That said, my experience with maintenance has been a bit mixed. While the overall quality of life here is excellent, I have noticed that response times for maintenance requests can be somewhat slow. On a couple of occasions, repairs needed to be addressed more promptly than they were. This is certainly not a major drawback, and the repairs were eventually completed to my satisfaction, but it's something potential residents might want to keep in mind.
Nice community with lots of parking. Close to the riverwalk for a nice walking trail. Everyone has been very friendly and helpful since I moved in

nice and quiet, maintanance is usually pretty quick with fixing issues. they have nice events with the Bierkeeler place that is nearby and its close to the river walk.

I love the community. It’s a very nice area. Only thing is I’m still waiting for maintenance to fix some things that wasn’t fixed before I moved in. One of the bathrooms is missing cabinets doors and in one of the bedrooms the A/C nor Heat blows through the vent. So the room is always very cold but other than that I love the apartment.

This often-quiet neighborhood can be disturbed by vehicles with intentionally loud exhaust sounds. These vehicles often are parked right under your building. Trash service is a mandatory convenience, that has wildly inconsistent pickup times. They do not follow the guidance given in the lease contract. You should remove your trash can promptly after trash pickup, or you could find cigarette butts or strange smelling plastic baggies thrown into them. On a positive note, the community is normally quiet and the residents are pleasant.

Great atmosphere and community feel the only issue I've experienced has been with the preparations made to the apartment prior to moving in. The maintenance crew however works fast and are thorough reacting fast and promptly.

The neighborhood is nice, however the landscaping sometimes gets to be a bit unkempt, amenities could also be better looked after. Maintenance response time is also quite slow. However, the apartment is fantastic for the price, very nice place to live, love the location.

The office staff are friendly and knowledgable. The maintenance staff are friendly and prompt. I love my apartment and the community. I am new to South Carolina and viewed many apartments before settling in to Canalside; my encounter with the other residents ,as I walked the community, won me over prior to moving. Everyone one I met were friendly, they greeted me and asked if I needed help ( I must have looked lost wandering the neighborhood ) nonetheless they were kind. I would have given a five star but my apartment was not move in ready

Located in a amazing area, this property is good, but could be great if it focused more on amenities upkeep and customer service. There clearly are not enough spaces for dogwalking as the areas around and between the buildings have a bad smell. Common areas and breezeways are filthy and just need occasional pressure washing or sweeping. Responses to maintenance requests are painfully slow. If you submit a maintenance request, there's no call back or timeline for resolution given. You just feel forgotten about. The maintenance crew works hard so there's some kind of disconnect there.

Great atmosphere. Rent too high. Lots of cool dogs walking around. Pool often closed for some reason or another. The brewery very overrated.

When trying to lease I called 26 times and got 1 call returned. Apartment was not clean when I walked in. Floors were filthy dirty and counters had not been cleaned. For 11 days I was leasing a studio first floor apartment only to find out the day I was moving here that apartment wouldn’t be ready for another month. I was offered a 2nd floor apartment that was $200 more a month. I am now calling for maintenance to fix a toilet that won’t flush and a bathtub that is clogged up.

There are significant concerns about infrastructure, maintenance, and management at the property. There are leaky pipes that create potential sinkholes and low water pressure, while trees are overgrown and obstruct sidewalks. Traffic and parking are chaotic, with reckless driving and unauthorized parking being common. Maintenance is poor, with pools closed by the health department due to unsanitary conditions, fountains and breezeways neglected, and dog waste frequently left unattended. Communication with management is lacking, as emails about critical issues go unanswered. Cleanliness is an issue, as apartments are often dirty upon move-in, and community areas are not well-maintained. Despite these problems, the I appreciates the size, price, and location of their apartment, the prompt response of maintenance when needed, and the respectfulness of neighbors.

I haven’t been able to live in my unit because it has been over 80 degrees because my AC is broken. They don’t know where the maintenance man is, they can’t tell me a time estimate for when it will be fixed. They are scamming me full time for the remainder of my lease. Avoid this place, and save yourself some time.
I had a five star review of this place and loved it until I had problems with maintenance. The sprinkler room has been beeping, located right next to my apartment, for months and it is constant. I've put in countless maintenance requests and sent emails to admin and they still have not fixed it. I have to say I'm disappointed and they should care about their residents actually enjoying their apartment. The beeping goes off every six seconds and is loud so I don't know what they expect me to do.
Management was not available during agreed upon time for retrieving keys and the apartment building was in dire need of cleaning and power washing. However, the apartment itself was great.
Wish the pool was open more often. They also need to clean all the stairwells. Very dirty. The new trash pick up has been awesome. Wish there were more events.
Overall it’s a nice place to live. The only issue we really ever have is that maintenance can take a while to get to you, but it seems like there aren’t a lot of them and with the amount of apts there are it makes sense. If something is urgent they make it a priority.

The location is great and the views are beautiful. The apartment itself is fine but the maintenance takes forever! Running toilet, lights out and oven didn’t work properly when I moved in.
My favorite part is being so close to the Riverwalk and all the nature there. Overall, the area is quiet and that's a plus for sure. The location is convenient to everything!

Highly recommend living here! We've been living here for over a year now and I think its great. The price is very fair for the amount of space we get in our apartment. Additionally the location is great, close to downtown. The apartment is in good shape and modern. Great commmunity ammenities such as access to the riverwalk and the brewery!

Really love this community. The units are spacious, and I don't hear my neighbors so it a great retreat after a long day in the office. Also, the complex is centrally located to downtown activities and has a great walking path nearby for exercise.
So far pretty great. Love my building, great parking and super quiet. The gym is never crowded. Haven’t had a chance to check out the pool yet but I can’t wait until it’s warmer.

Move in date was unsuccessful. Things were still in apartment and it was not cleaned. I had no where to go after making sure I did everything right on my end to ensure I was able to move in.
I really enjoy living at Canalside! The amenities are very nice and the community is great. The staff is very nice and helpful as well. My only complain it’s that maintenance is a bit slow with responding and fixing things.
Overall it's a nice place to live. I wish more shops and restaurants would move in. The location is great and it's relatively quiet and I feel safe.

For the most part my experience has been great! Working with the manager Melanie has always been a positive experience for any issues we have had. Maintenance is always helpful and kind.

Great! Maintenance is very fast and sweet to get the job done. People are so friendly and the pool is great. So many dogs for my dog to see.

Canalside is a hidden gem in Columbia. This neighborhood doesn’t feel like it’s in the middle of the city, but it is walking distance from downtown. Highly recommend this apartment complex.

Lovely place to live and stay. Friendly community with lots to do in and around canalside. Enjoy having the vriverfront walk right outside ,just a 1 minute walk. 10/10. Would recommend.
