A mere six miles east of Huntsville, University/Research Park hosts one of the world's leading science and technology business parks. Central to the area's economy, Cummings Research Park brings together Fortune 500 companies and U.S. space and defense agencies with the best and brightest from local universities to create a premier center for research and technology. Townhomes and condos form the bulk of the rentals, meaning there’s something for families, students, and professionals alike.
This area has become a research hub for both government agencies such as NASA as well as private corporations including Lockheed and IBM. The abundance of research jobs in addition to the local educational institutions created the need for housing to accommodate the workers, students, and educators.

Property Ratings at Candlewood Apartments
Manager doesn’t care about safety. I was recently in a domestic violence situation where I had to leave the apartment . She didn’t care all she was asking for was money for 3months I was no longer living there. The door got knocked in. That still wasn’t fixed after a week of me calling.
When I first started living here, the place was okay. Mostly college students going to UAH that weren't too disruptive and kept to themselves. Now, management seems to have given up trying. Want to fill your neighbors' vents with weed smoke? Welcome aboard! Want to blast loud music down the street at midnight during the workweek? Feel free! Want to steal catalytic converters from our completely unlit parking lots? Stop on by! A couple of sign on 'bonuses': -Your mail will NOT be delivered to your mailbox, which is, for some reason, placed clear across the neighborhood. Instead any packages must be picked up over at the Wynn Drive post office (and you'd better hope you didn't have anything valuable shipped or the package WILL be "damaged" and your item "lost"). -Friendly strangers will knock on your door at 11pm asking for cigarettes! -You may NOT speak to the management in person! COVID may be over but their disrespectful avoidance of their tenants is not! If you tour this place on a temperate Autumn morning or on a clear Spring afternoon, you may be tempted to think, "hey this place doesn't seem so bad". In that moment, I encourage you to consider what your boss will say when you tell him, "sorry, I can't make it today. Yes, I know that bad snowstorm hit three days ago, but my apartment management STILL hasn't had these frosty, hilly roads salted. There are five cars parked in the middle of the street because they physically cannot get up these hills." If you do, by some miracle, make it into work on a day like that, bear in mind that you WILL smell like your neighbors' weed! By the way, sorry if the power goes out and you freeze. No, you still can't use the fireplaces we boarded up for no reason whatsoever! Maybe the rats and roaches will keep you warm! TL;DR: AVOID EAGLES MANAGEMENT LIKE THE PLAGUE!
You hear gunshots in the surroundings. The management is very unprofessional. It is better to live in a better apartment.
1. The walls are VERY thin, i can hear my neighbors conversations, getting out of bed, running water, and plugging the charger into a wall. Kids were screaming/crying 24/7. 2. Please clean from top to bottom when moving out. I made sure my apartment was spotless before leaving and was charged $40 for “leaving lint in dryer”. Seems like the women in the office are very picky and will do anything to charge you an extra dollar. 3. I was also charged $70 for carpet shampooing. I had no pets, the carpet was not dirty to begin with & usually other apartment complexes cover this fee. 4. The layout/appliances are extremely outdated. (the oven has an analog clock that didn’t even work lol). 5. Good luck on your search, but this ain’t it!

We are sorry you feel that were overcharged for your cleaning expenses. As listed in your move-in paperwork that you were given, there is a carpet shampoo fee upon move-out. You were aware of this when you signed your lease. You were not charged $40 for leaving lint in your dryer. You left the stove top full of grease/oil drippings, toilet was dirty, fridge had not been cleaned and there was a dirty container in it, there was trash on the floors, you sealed up an attic access with plastic, left several items throughout the apartment, etc. We did not charge you a full cleaning price, and cut off part of the cost. When trying to explain these things to you on the phone, you hung up on the staff.
Very Dirty and pest infested. if you enjoy sleeping or meditating, i would suggest getting a hotel room every night. they told us no pets but do not care if there are rodents and roaches everywhere in our apartments. in the winter we are literally stuck at home due to the steep hills covered in ice. the inside looks old and torn down. i literally felt backed into a corner everytime i walk in due to bugs and rodents. the two ladies in the office could care less about you all they want is the rent money. i regret moving there. again do not move here !
I wouldn’t recommend anyone to move here. The apartments are old and dingy. If you decide to move here I would recommend that you clean behind all of the appliances because mine looked like they had never been cleaned behind. That’s probably why there are roaches taking over. Pest control doesn’t help. Cleaning your apartment doesn’t help. I was told that they come through any small opening including the air vents and oven hood which they did. I had to call maintenance multiple times to try to fill holes to stop them from coming in. All they did was use some type of foam which looks horrible. They could have done a better job/ like actually fixing stuff instead of covering it with foam. It was a horrible experience staying there. I heard gunshots all of the time. The lighting in he parking lots are horrible so I never felt safe going outside at night. If you stay on the first floor be prepared to hear every sound from your neighbor’s apartment. You can hear the pipes every time they take a shower, every footstep, every cough, every time they close a cabinet or door, and most of their conversations. I hated living there and wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
Candlewood apartments has truly ruined my entire apartment search experience. I applied to the apartment complex on Friday it took them 4 days to reply back to me that I did qualify but I needed to pay my full lease . The shortest lease was 9 months, they asked for 6,000 dollars and the 200 dollar fee . My credit is above 700 and I met all the other qualifications so I think there was no reason they would ask for that huge amount . I think they should’ve just said we have to deny you and move on. I will spread the word that this apartment complex is the worst. If you are a college student RUN AWAY.

We are sorry you feel you had a bad experience. When someone applies, it typically takes 1-2 business days to complete an application. Please keep in mind, if you apply on a Friday, we are closed on weekends, so it will take longer to complete an application. Applications are not based solely on credit scores. We require previous positive rental history, good/established credit, and verifiable income of 4x the rental amount.
I really like staying at Candlewood. It's very affordable and I just renewed my lease for the third year. The staff in the office have always been nice and help me with anything I need. I've met a couple of the maintenance guys, and they are always quick to get things fixed. Great place to live!
There is trash strewn daily by raccoons and just left to sit there. They refuse to pay for adequate dumpster space and trash just rolls through the apartment complex on a windy day. I wish I could post pictures because it's disgusting. There is two years worth of trash in the woods right by my car drug up into the woods and noone does anything about it. The ladies who run the place are unreasonable and looking for a way to stick you with any fees they can. My lease was ending, and I gave them a 58 day notice that I was leaving when my lease expires. Well since they needed 60 days, they forced me to stay an extra month and raised my rent for that month 150 dollars. Over 58 day notice that I wasn't renewing my lease instead of the contractually specified 60. I was out of state working at the time and received no consideration or mercy from them. They refused to fix things like broken door handles even when asked nicely. And to top if all off they have given me an incorrect figure to pay, which I paid and then they called me two days later saying I owed more money and am still racking up late fees on it. Over their incompetence, they asked me to pay the wrong amount and now I owe late fees because they don't know what they are doing. I have pictures and screenshots of all of this. Check other reviews, cause I'm gonna post them anywhere I can. DO NOT STAY HERE. These ladies are here to take advantage of struggling young people!!!

Dear Cody, We are sorry you feel you had a poor experience. Our office requires a 60-day written notice to vacate. We also accept emailed vacate notices if you cannot make it to the office. Prior to your 60 days, we send out reminder letters that your lease will be ending, so that you can get your notice in on time. Our records indicate you turned in your notice 28 days prior to your lease ending date. We do have a month-to-month rate for residents who stay residing in an apartment that’s not in a lease. We apologize if there was confusion on the rental amount owed for your last month, which is at a month-to-month rate. You were aware that your last month would be at a higher rate when you turned in your notice. We take pride in the fact that we are prompt in getting maintenance requests completed for our residents. We would have to have a maintenance request from a resident before we can make a work order for our maintenance staff to be able to make repairs. Should you have a maintenance request, please feel free to contact our office. We are sorry if you feel you were taken advantage of. Thank you.
I’ve been staying here over a year now and I honestly can not complain about one thing. I lived over here before in 2013-2014 and much hasn’t been renovated but I would still suggest to move here. Rent is affordable, quiet, and conveniently close to everything.
I’ve been living in Candlewood for almost 3yrs now and have had few issues. Good place to live for students and recent grads, it’s affordable and location is convenient!
Great communication! Very concerned with the residence making sure everyone is comfortable and feel safe in the community! Very satisfied
Ive been staying in Candlewood going on 3years and haven't had any problems. They are very helpful in the leasing office when it comes to any issues I have, they come with washer and dryer, and you really cant beat the rent pricing.
Living in Candlewood has quick access to the parkway/university amenities. The apartments are suitable for living and I've had a decent living experience in the area. Overall, its affordable and doable.
I have been living in Candlewood going on 5 years, now. I have never had any issues with the leasing office, the maintenance men come quickly and efficiently, and it's extremely quiet. My neighbors are very nice and watchful. I would recommend any college student or small family to live here!
I really enjoy living at Candlewood. The maintenance guys and the management are great and always on top of getting things done. Pretty quiet and not a lot going on, which I love. I'd recommend this place.
Walls are very thin I could literally hear my neighbors conversations through the wall, kirkland is needed everyday because of the pest control and horrible contruction of the apartments, the two ladies in the office are very unresonable when it comes to anything dealing with the aparttment, they enjoy getting getting your referrals but will give you a hard time when it comes to taking money off from next months rents and they are not very freindly. If you no whats best for you do not move to these apartments because you get what you pay for.
Apartments are well kept, fair pricing. Workers in the leasing office are very helpful and inefficient. If something is broken in your apartment they are sure to get maintenance right on it.
Its a decent place to live for the most part. The apartment comes with washer and dryer which is great.
I've been living here for 2 months and haven't had any problems. Maintenance seems to always be quick to fix any issues and the leasing office was great. They did everything they could to make my move easy and pleasant. So kind and friendly! Maintenance recently came and done their preventative maintenance to make sure all my appliances were running well and I was set for the winter. The girls in the office are always nice and helpful. They make sure maintenance comes and picks up / mows the grounds regularly. Seems to be a quiet neighborhood, I don't hear much going on. Can't complain!
Went with a friend 2 years ago to look at several of there rentals, they seemed to be well kept, fair pricing, and very nice surroundings. I said if i ever move here this will be the fist place i try! And now is my chance, there perfect !
Nice neighborhood and it is in a centralized location..
