After the American Revolution, the untamed wilderness of Onondaga County was designated a Military Tract, where land was donated to war veterans. John McHarrie and his wife Lydia were two of the first permanent settlers, arriving in 1794. They helped those traveling the Seneca River, and one of those travelers, Dr. Jonas Baldwin, arrived in 1798. Dr. Baldwin constructed a dam and a canal to harness the river's energy, and he built a bridge to establish the settlement as a river crossing. Eventually, the settlement was named for him. Today, the Village of Baldwinsville retains much of its historical atmosphere, with several buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Baldwinsville apartments provide easy access to nearby Syracuse, just 12 miles southeast. A trip along I-690 takes roughly 15 minutes, making Baldwinsville ideal for commuters who prefer a small-town atmosphere.

Property Ratings at Candlewood Gardens
I had a lot of doubt because of previous reviews but I have lived in my apartment for a little of a year now and I couldn't be happier. Dawn Homes really came in and turned the complex around. The apartments themselves are extremely clean when it came to moving in. I always clean myself before moving in and I legit had nothing to clean. It was spotless. My apt is on the top floor but from my apt I can't hear anyone else, it's very quiet and peaceful. They are right on top of maintenance requests. I couldn't recommend this complex more. All of my neighbors are nice and friendly. It's a very nice atmosphere to live in.
The new owners ( dawn homes ) are doing ALOT of work to get this place fixed up and it’s extremely appreciated there’s been a mouse problem and they’re actually fixing it and have had pest control come in… the washers and dryers are working better there’s new water heaters FINALLY they’re upping the rent but with all the fixes I definitely don’t mind… maintenance is WONDERFUL and so is the whole “ crew “ the manager is so frickin nice and she just brightens up a lot of stuff by how kind and understanding she is :)
This place is pretty old and the washers and dryers are practically falling apart yes management is very nice and so is maintenance but it just seems like there’s ALOT of updating they could do... it’s like there’s a new issue everyday I just hope they’re able to actually do work on this place so people will want to stay here... if they had to up the rent I wouldn’t mind as long as stuff got fixed the right way or replaced
After moving to a new apartment on the other side of Syracuse I realized just how nice I had it while living at Candlewood. Manager was nice and they always kept the place clean and nice landscaping in the summer.
Price is reasonable and the apartments are clean for the most part. Air conditioning is not very efficient (our unit is pretty old). Quiet and peaceful little "neighborhood" right in the village of Baldwinsville. Dog friendly for small dogs (25 lbs or less). Well maintained grounds and snow removal. Windows are outdated and the kitchen could use an update.
