Starkville is what you’d call a college town for sure. Home to a large student population focused on academics and sports, this city also houses numerous apartments near cool amenities. As you probably guessed, the gem of Starkville is Mississippi State University which is surrounded by bars, mom-and-pop eateries, boutiques, and bookstores.
When you live in Starkville, you’ll notice when the entire community gears up for game day. “Hail State” is a common greeting that echoes throughout the town, and it’s safe to say that a great deal of the community revolves around college sports like football. Locals, alumni, and visitors alike are often tailgating before a big game. On game day eves, New South Weekends in Starkville offer tons of activities from wine tastings to block parties.
MSU and surrounding neighborhoods have a lot of art and culture offerings. The Lyceum Series, presented by the university, features concerts, dance recitals, and musicals throughout the year.

Property Ratings at Canterbury Commons
We lived in apt# 85 for 1 year. Initially, everything was looking good. I would say I loved living the apartment. However, there was a flash flood warning in Starkville and our apartment went underwater. After that our apartment flooded two more times due to heavy rain but management did not take any step even after complaining each time. Then, we decide to leave the apartment and we asked to deposit money but they denied it. After showing proper documents, they acknowledged the deposition but was committed to returning the money once we leave the apartment. But they did not return the money. Overall, I would say the apartment is good but the management is rude and irresponsible.
I wrote a review before and I want to update it. The apartment management has started to function well now. The manager is available all time so is the maintenance person. They are taking good care of the tenants and this has to be appreciated. The laundry room got repaired and the machines are working. I give my full ratings to Canterbury now.
I am writing this review with the hope that the property owners do something regarding this. I loved Canterbury Apts and have been staying here since a while. The Apts are good but the current management is horrible. I spoke with many tenants and they all have the same feeling. The previous manager took good care of the tenants but was fired. The new management is really inefficient and unprofessional. The Apt manager is never at the office. It's so hard to get hold of the manager. The maintenance person doesn't provide his contact and in case of emergency, things have to go through the manager. Both of them are hard to find. There is no proper coordination between them and no proper interest to fix the issues that tenants have. The tenants are not told when the maintenance is going to come or how the issue is fixed. The laundry room is a mess and is never cleaned/kept well – most machines doesn’t work also. Just kept to take some of your coins. If you are really looking for a professional service, then CG with the current management is not the place. I hope the CG property owners will appoint some professional people who are willing to do their job well. My rating is 1 for this lack of respect to the tenants from the side of the current management. I will definitely change my review once I see some improvement.
I have to say our apartment is great! The management is super friendly and they actually care about their tenants. The apartments are maintained and are beautifully set up and designed. I love living there and recommend it to anyone.
