Property Ratings at Canterbury Crossings
Terrible customer service. The office DOES NOT return phone calls and rarely answers the phone. I submitted an online application with the $60 fee, nothing happened. I went into the office and was encouraged to submit the $300 money order for the holding fee ASAP so they could get started on my application right away, nothing happened. I called the office a week later and they started working on it but never finished or got back with me on the status. I finally got ahold of someone in the office and told her I am canceling my application as they are not doing anything with it and I had to figure out where to live as my lease was ending soon, her excuse was that they've been busy and had internet issues. She told me I could come to the office on Sunday to pick up my $300 money order (which I needed to put toward another property). Online the office hours for Sunday are 9-12. I got there at 10 am and no one was there because the hours on the door state 12-5. I go back later at 1 pm. Still, no one there. I've now left four messages for the office with no return call. Based on the previous reviews with pictures of the mold in the walls and the poor professionalism and customer service, I dodged a bullet by not moving here.
I moved into this property because of the location and zoned school. However, I would not recommend this community to anyone. The maintenance of the apartments are pretty terrible, no one ever answers a phone and something as simple as mail delivery is an issue (broken mailboxes for over 6 months).
They stop water supply at least every 6 weeks due to repairs. Sometimes they only notify you at 8:30am by email that at 9am they will shut off water giving you no time to prepare. You can be without water for as long as 12 hours. AC units don’t work so get ready to buy Window AC units to keep your house cool enough. Good neighbors and maintenance guys are friendly but office management is very rude. They will come up with a monthly fee out of nowhere at least every 6 months.
The floors warp easily, the wood cabinets are old and fall apart, so many German roaches from the adjoining apartment and we had pest control come every week for 3 months and nothing changed, management is AWFUL and extremely rude. If you have pets they will automatically replace the carpet when you move out and charge you for it (and this is after they require you to have your carpets steam cleaned). Our carpets looked brand new and they still took out the carpet anyways. The receptionist said “it doesn’t matter how it looks, you had pets so we are replacing the carpet no matter what.” And that was almost an $800 charge that we ended up having to fight them in court over. Absolutely not worth it. Stay far away.
First impressions, quiet, clean community with friendly neighbors and an excellent staff that goes above and beyond your expectations. Steve was courteous, prompt and helpful in making a comfortable transition into my new apartment. They are constantly upgrading and maintaining the property, I am glad that I chose Canterbury Crossings!
The apartments are adequate at best with warping floors and old shelves that chip and look gross. The worst is the management, they are terrible and rude. They do not want to help and they are constantly looking for ways to get money from you. They just recently implemented a "If we see your dog poop and you do not clean it up there will be a $50 fee." They don't thoroughly explain anything and trying to get help or maintenance is like pulling teeth. Do NOT move here!!!
No clubhouse, pet playground, terrible mgmt, awful maintainence . No parking spaces. Will tow your car with no warning. A/c are old, my bill runs over $200 a month, and I live in an 850 sq. unit. Had to invest in window units. Won't replace units. Units have mold, warped floors and cheap carpet. DO NOT move here, you will be sorry. Units are old and outdated. These people in office change like you change your underwear, new maintainence men every few months. Every time someone takes over, they change the rules. RUN!!!!
Management changes monthly. There's mold in the units. The AC systems are a JOKE. We cannot have the temp under 82 inside our home because the AC just wont do it. Maintenance has been called out over 4 times so far. NO help. It's always nice to have your tiny yard covered in animal feces because no one wants to pick up their pets waste. Parking is a JOKE. There are broken down cars taking up all the available parkings spots and then the office will stick towing stickers on your car just for parking in your yard since theres NO WHERE ELSE TO PARK and the lease states NOTHING against it. We have lost days worth of mail because the office has 'miscommunications' with the post employees and sets our mail box as vacant. We dont consider ourselves picky people. We know every place has its faults but we are counting down the days until this lease is up. Run far away and don't look back. For these prices, (because after all the fees they add into your monthly rent its higher than whats stated) you could absolutely find a better place!
For your own sake and health (WATER SUPPLY AND BREATHING AIR PROBLEMS), seek out other properties - this one is full of unhappy tenants who are here only for the relatively low cost of rent and the location. NO CLUBHOUSE, PET PLAY AREA, STORAGE UNITS AS ADVERTISED. Maintenance is non-existent for current residents. REPAIRS REQUESTED AS FAR BACK AS 2011 NEVER FIXED, SUCH AS ROOF LEAKS, WATER PIPE AND TOILET LEAKS, and WALL AND CEILING STAINS DUE TO ROOF LEAKS MOST AIR CONDITIONING UNITS are ANCIENT (10-15 YEARS OLD) & UNDERSIZED - EXPECT 85F TEMPERATURES INSIDE DURING A REGULAR SUMMER DAY. THEY NORMALLY BAND-AID EXISTING EQUIPMENT INSTEAD OF REPLACING WORN-OUT UNITS. MULTIPLE UNITS UNLIVABLE AND LEFT VACANT due to termite and mold damage. (HAVE SOME great PHOTOS OF THESE FEATURES INCLUDING STANDING WATER UNDER ONE SPECIAL UNIT). ROTTEN & SOFT FLOORS AND/OR HOLES IN FLOORS NOT UNCOMMON. REGULAR PAINTING OVER of MOLD AND MILDEW instead of complying with basic health standards of MOLD removal AND THEN THEY RENT THE UNITS. THIS IS INEXCUSABLE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE. EXISTING TENANTS ARE TOLD TO SPRAY BLEACH MIXED WITH WATER ON MOLD IN THEIR UNITS. SOURCE OF MOLD NOT ADDRESSED. WATER MAIN BREAKS ON PROPERTY 3-4 TIMES PER YEAR, WHICH IS MAINTAINED BY THE PROPERTY (INSIDE OF THE CURB), NOT THE CITY - NEVER, EVER A "BOIL WATER" NOTICE WHEN THE WATER MAIN DOES BREAK, ENDANGERING HEALTH, POSSIBLE EXPOSURE TO E-COLI BACTERIA AND OTHER CONTAMINANTS. EXPECT UNREASONABLE SEIZURE OF DEPOSITS such as deducting for carpet cleaning for WORN OUT carpeting that is UP TO TEN YEARS OLD and has been used by MULTIPLE TENANTS. EXPECT TO HIRE A LAWYER MANAGEMENT SLOW to react to problems, EVEN IF they do, OFTEN COMPLAINING OF NO FUNDING OR CONTINUALLY PROMISING REPAIRS THAT ARE NEVER, EVER DONE. REGULAR TURNOVER (QUIT, FIRING) OF PROPERTY MANAGERS AND MAINTENANCE so if you work here, it probably won't be for long and you won't be happy, WITH CHEAP OWNERS AND UNHAPPY TENANTS COMPLAINTS. In the shared history of this place, there have been at least ten property managers in the past half-dozen or so years. NONE STAY LONG. JUST ASK ANYONE who currently lives here or who has lived here. "WOULD YOU RECOMMEND THIS PLACE?" The answer WILL BE NO! Submitted with the full understanding of the site posting policies of not to" . . . mislead, deceive, defraud, seek to mislead, deceive or defraud, make any misrepresentations" of the property referenced, per the site terms.
Canterbury Crossings is the perfect community for my family! Single level so no stairs to climb. Also, no upstairs nor downstairs neighbors!! We all have attached garages between units so, NO shared walls with neighbors either!! We have fenced patios and attic storage too. A quick sliding glass door insert with a doggie door and my dogs can come and go as they please into their own area. Location?? A couple of blocks from the interstate and a major road with every kind of shopping and restaurants anyone can want or need! And did I mention it backs up to the county walking trail?? No gym or pool so I don't pay for things I won't use. Can't imagine ever leaving!
