Property Ratings at Canterbury East Apartments
I have lived here almost a year now. My 2 bedroom apartment has cathedral ceilings, a fireplace and is very roomy. There’s lots of natural light. There’s a beautiful well kept pool that is amazing on hot summer days. I’ve made friends with my neighbors. People at the pool are polite and friendly. Management & leasing staff are professional and friendly. It’s nestled away in a quiet neighborhood.
I have lived here for almost a year and the experience has been terrible. My car has been broken into twice, management hardly answers their phone, and good luck getting maintenance to fix anything.
Great place to move to. Office staff is helpful and the community is clean!
Decent place, high ceilings are truly awesome. Place is mostly quiet, depends on your neighbors. Pool was never opened this most recent summer and we saw no discount on rent. Office staff are super nice and kind to you. Maintenance was a royal pain to get anything fixed. When a light socket would work half the time, their maintenance would show up and leave a note saying "not broken" and leave. They promised me three different times to come replace the broken screens from move-in during spring, they never did. Even something simple like blinds which were broken and stuck in a bedroom, never fixed. I was very disappointed a couple months after I moved out for a cheaper place because management messed up my account in their system and never canceled my lease payments. I left the place in good condition and at the end of my one year lease. We were on good terms and during my lease I even refereed a couple people to open units. Its been over 90 days and they still have yet to mail me my deposit check or itemized deduction list. They sent a false debt to collections and now I am being harassed by them. I've triple checked at this point that I have made all 12 months worth of rent payments, and verbally verified that everything was settled when dropping off my keys during move-out. It feels impossible to get a hold of someone who will actually have any answers for me but they're currently "looking into it." Now I am looking into take them to small claims court for my deposit check back, and have to dispute an invalid debt charge. I want to reiterate: I left on good terms at the end of my 1Y lease. Nothing more than wear and tear damages (and they're not pursuing any damage money). They made a mistake and their system expected me to continue making rent payments beyond my lease expiry. I have a brick wall to talk to when getting this fixed.
I love my apartment here. Maintenance always takes care of any issues I have, and the office staff is always very helpful. I have lived here for a couple years now and I will continue to call this home. Thank you for always making sure I have everything I need.
I’ve had nothing but issues from the start. The woman who orginally wrote my lease, messed up and it had to be rewritten. I signed in June, and when I moved in July, that woman was gone! The office staff changes so frequently I can’t keep up with it. Because of this, when you call you can’t get a straight answer. The property manager, Sandy, was rude and disrespectful to me when I called about an issue. All these things add up to a bad experience when you need help or something from the office. Don’t move here, it appears nice and put together from the outside... but it isn’t.
Property Manager at Canterbury East Apartments, Responded To This Review
We try very hard to treat everyone with respect and compassion. Our job in the office is to ensure resident satisfaction. Unfortunately, there are times that residents have issues that are outside of management's control, and our inability to resolve the problem causes residents to perceive an answer in a negative manner. I am unable to address the lease signing issue, but can state that the same staff has been here for the last year, and my staff is wonderful!
Seems like this apartment complex has a hidden agenda for cheating residents as well as avoiding phone calls. Management / office staff are not interested in getting things done and unreasonable towards residents. Not only that, but the prices for the apartments are getting increased by more than $30 each year. Only by bringing that up, do residents get a more "appropriate inflation" towards their monthly rent. Terrible staff, greedy management, avoid!!!
