Michigan City is a fairly small city overlooking Lake Michigan, positioned about fifty miles east of Chicago and forty miles west of South Bend. Historically one of Indiana’s most vibrant communities, Michigan City maintains a thriving local culture with museums, breweries, a casino, and numerous popular performance venues providing endless options for your downtime.
The waterfront location gives the city a beautiful scenic quality, and both the lake itself and the nearby Indiana Dunes are popular recreation venues for locals and visitors alike. The South Shore Line offers affordable rail service to both Chicago and South Bend, allowing you to travel to two of the Midwest’s most distinctive cities without having to drive.

Property Ratings at Canterbury House Apartments
Terrible place to live. Please keep looking( 0 stars ) -maintenance never comes -maintenance doesn't knock -maintenance doesn't care for your home -office doesn't answer and are unprofessional -reluctant staff / often uses sarcastic tone -owner doesn't care -not enough trash bins leads to trash everywhere -dirty / trashy / unwelcoming / unappealing -hidden fees -charged extra for a broken down facility with no tangible amenities -"gated community" actually not gated/been broken for years (which im sure they still charge for the *idea* of having) -pool small and always closed ( no tangible amenities) -leaky/constant unit issues -no way to stop/block neighbors noise -terrible roads -unruly children -did i say OVER PRICED?? All in all my experience here has been terrible, annoying, disappointing, demeaning, and overall an inconvenience to my life. This was a learning experience on what to STEER CLEAR OF when looking for an apartment and/or landlord/site manager. I am MOST looking forward to my lease ending and plan on throwing a "freed from hell" party at my new place :) This has been top 2 worst choices I've ever made for myself. Thank you "Canterbury Far-From Luxury apartments."

Maintenance does not handle request in a timely fashion. Management is constantly changing. Neighbors are loud, coming and going at all hours of the day, and parking is horrible. People have more cars than allowed and have a lot of guests who park in front of buildings. Trash is always all over property and around dumpsters. Children run around outside unsupervised. This is my 3rd year here and it gets worse everywhere. I will be moving very soon.

Been living at an downstairs apartment for almost 3 years now and been fed up with the upstairs apartment noise due to kids running and bumping and all times of hours I reported the noise and still nothing was done so I requested to move to an upstairs unit because I'm a house of of 3 and we don't make noise or have small children that would be running around ..I was told so many times they don't have an upstairs unit available but been waiting for one for a year and I see ppl moving in and out from an upstairs unit everyday when one finally came available upstairs from me I ask if I can get that one since it right over me and would been an easy move karina the property manager kept blowing me off about it and lying saying it's not available and she have to ask if I can move there when the manager that worked there before April and heather said they will move me to an upstairs apartment and it wasn't a problem...when the upstairs unit came available Karina ignore my wishes and moved someone that she had promise the apartment to I was totally upset and called corporate about what she has done did anything happen I don't know but I'm soo upset and disappointed in what karina has done and is an poor management so I guess if you her friend she will get you an apartment which is not right for those who been waiting for a year to get some kind of relief from noise...I will not be renewing my lease because what karina has done to me..

I started the application about a year ago. Had been going back and forth the whole time with application process. When I initially applied gave all required information. I was told approved and was told to give my current landlord my move out notice. Did this and never received a move in date, putting my current landlord on edge. Office staff changed many times had to often start from scratch because of turnover. Calls were never returned, office phone rarely answered. When they did answer received a different story of what was needed, or had no information to provide. Got tired of getting the run around for a year and chose not to continue application process as it was often a dead end. I Don't recommend Canterbury house apartments to anyone. If the application process was this difficult, just imagine how it would be trying to obtain maintenance service once there. Sincerely, Extremley Disappointed

Not a good place to live let alone with children. Have had to call the police many times and have had stuff stolen.

Canterbury apartments is a great and quiet place to live and call home. It has great spacing and lovely living quarters. There is also a basketball court, swimming pool, game and workout room all located in the ClubHouse. I absolutely love staying here and might actually do so.
Looking for a pet friendly unit no matter the size? Wanting an area that is kid friendly? Look no further! Not to mention spacious apartments for an extremely reasonable price.... close to shopping of all kinds and not to mention 45 minutes away from downtown Chicago, while still letting you enjoy the safety and quietness of a peaceful little town.
