The dining scene is top notch, featuring an eclectic mix of over 100 restaurants to satisfy any appetite. Performance venues of every size host symphony orchestras, rock bands, comedy shows, and theater productions regularly. A variety of museums and the University of Arizona campus boost the area’s intellectual capital, and residents enjoy quick access to pro baseball and basketball games just down the street.
As a major commercial center, the neighborhood’s high rises house dozens of corporate offices, making it an ideal spot for urban professionals who want the ability to walk to work. The extensive sidewalk system makes it easy to walk anywhere, and green spaces like the lush Margaret T. Hance Park provide gorgeous oases in the desert sun.

Property Ratings at Mason Oliver
Staff is incredibly unprofessional — they don’t answer urgent emails, including about safety issues, one of which led to my bike being stolen due to their negligence to act. They also can’t keep their residents straight and have called me regarding other residents’ leases. It’s obvious that Mason Oliver doesn’t care about resident safety since multiple doors security doors were broken for months on end with no notifying emails to residents, even after I prompted them that residents deserved to know what was happening in their building. Additionally, even when notified about my stolen bike, they didn’t warn other residents to not use the bike locker until TWO DAYS after the incident, leaving ample time for other bikes to be stolen. I was gaslit and lied to by the leasing manager about the contents of an email that I literally could refer back to on my phone, and then told I was “attacking him” for identifying these issues with the complex and following up to ensure the situation was rectified. Even then, I was only given 2/3 of the cost of my bike, when this situation could have so easily been avoided and was wholly the fault of the complex’s negligence. This apartment complex has no transparency and are more concerned with their items (plastic carts and COFFEE CREAMER) being stolen than residents’ possessions. These are just a few of my many many grievances with Mason Oliver. I’ve never been more disappointed with an apartment complex and regret recommending it to my friends, who both had MULTIPLE issues during their move-in process. We will not be resigning, and I know at least one of them also will not be.
DO NOT MOVE HERE, waste of time & especially money. Not worth it, 2nd management since I moved here. Horrible at communicating & not being consistent.
Unfriendly staff, constantly broken gates & garages, homeless in parking lots. Management is completely inflexible and will take every opportunity to nickel and dime you. Unsafe neighborhood, no staff in building 11, totally neglected property.
Lived here for 2 years and have had nothing but problems. When I moved in the apartment was dirty and I had broken appliances and they didn’t want to replace them right away they wanted to try and fix them 3 or 4 times and the office staff are very unhelpful and the property manager never calls back! I’ve had my car damaged, dog attacked, ac was broken for 3 weeks in the middle of the summer, gates are ALWAYS broken hallways are dirty and no one picks up after their dogs and it smells like dog poop so bad I can’t even walk my dog around the inside of the parking lot. The 11 property it nasty. Rent somewhere worth the money. They also don’t have cameras in the garage so if anything happens to your car you can’t get any help. So beware.
**WARNING** If you choose to live at Mason Oliver, do NOT live in building 11 (11th Street). This building is basically the ugly stepchild of the complex -- everything is either broken, filthy, or in disrepair. - Garage gates are constantly stuck open, so anyone can simply walk or drive into the garage from either Washington St. or 11th St. If you live alone, do NOT wander around the parking garage at night. - Both elevators in this building are constantly broken. It's so bad that I refuse to get in them for fear of getting stuck. I'll only use them if I absolutely have to. - The hallways and stairwells are absolutely disgusting. They are filled with dust, hairballs, leaves, trash, stains, and god knows what else. - There used to be a functioning package locker system here, but it has been broken for nearly a month now with no updates from management on if or when it will be fixed. Since the elevators are broken, there is currently no way for couriers to deliver packages to our front doors. So we basically have no way to receive packages right now, and management has been completely silent on the issue. - The management staff are NEVER present in building 11. They only work out of building 12 (12th Street) and basically leave this building to fend for itself. There is a perfectly good leasing office in this building, but I have not seen a single staff member working there in over 2 years. If you want to talk to someone face-to-face, you need to walk over to building 12 (sometimes in 110-degree heat). They rarely communicate with us and only send occasional emails. You'd think they would provide constant updates on the broken gates, package lockers, and other urgent items -- but NOPE! You are left guessing and hoping that things will eventually get fixed. Direct emails to the leasing office and manager usually go unanswered. I could go on for hours talking about the problems in this building, but the above items make this place almost unlivable. Regrettably, I recently renewed my lease, and many of these problems have only gotten worse since then. If things don't change soon, I plan to pursue all available options to leave early. This is pure negligence on the part of Knightvest.
I was looking for a senior community downtown. After touring with Lisa, my needs are met! I highly recommend this quiet, safe and accommodating luxury downtown experience. I don't know who managed this place before, but I am giving Oliver Mason two thumbs up!
They seemingly avoid/ignore tenants who voice concern or complaints. They ignore us if they can, and if not, they just send an intimidating letter from their attorney. They wasted no time before beginning disruptive renovations in units that are adjacent to occupied units. They gave zero notice and communicated nothing regarding how long those renovations were expected to last. As millions of people suddenly began working from home, they impede our ability to do so by performing this work. In time they will realize that tenant's ability and willingness to pay them rent is determined by our ability to work from the apartments we are renting. Clearly they haven't adapted to the pandemic life, because that's a strange business plan if they were hoping to turn a profit. Would give 0 stars if I could.
Lived here for the year and under older management things went well. Now it has become a horrible property because of the management. They are very rude and dont care

Looks like a decent place, poorly managed and horrible staff. Wish the old management was still around because they actually cared.

My husband and I lived in a one bedroom apartment. We moved to Phoenix for a short time and Capital Place was wonderful to us. From the pre-move in details of having furniture delivered to the care of the staff and prompt maintenance, this place truly took care of us. My husband and I use wheelchairs and their ADA units were great: lowered counters, microwave on the counter, wide doorways, lowered light switches, side-to side washer and dryer, grab bars and a spacious bathroom with no obstruction to get under the sink. It met nearly all of our specialized needs. The staff also bent over backwards to accommodate the mail deliveries and the arrival of our personal care assistants that would come multiple times a day. They were always open-minded with our ideas and willing to accommodate us. I can't recommend this place enough and I'm baffled by any negative review because my husband and I still miss living there.

Wow, Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a thoughtful review. You have truly made our day here at Capital Place. We miss you as well, and are so grateful our efforts to host you made your time with us better. We appreciate you and hope to see you again. Take care,
Leasing office staff is hardly ever at the leasing office. That makes it impossible to get any packages or ask questions. There is a phone number that you are supposed to be able to call for assistance, but nobody answers that either (it just rings at the empty leasing office). Can't wait to move out.

Thank you for reaching out. We apologize for your experience and will continue to work with you directly to resolve and look for other solutions. Your experience is our priority. Have a good afternoon,
Horrible management and very overrated apartments overall. If I could post less than 1 star I would. The list of problems with living here seems endless, but let me start with the list below.....more to come I'm sure. 1. Management does not respond to requests in a timely manner and as a result, we had to email and argue with multiple staff members for months just to correct our lease and not be charged with month-to-month fees. 2. We informed the front desk of our intent to move well ahead of time, but because they waited until 30 days before our last day to provide us with the necessary paperwork, now we're screwed over and are being charged for a month of rent during which we will be living out of state. 3. By the way, they demand a 60 day notice of intent to move even though they self-admittedly can have an apartment ready for a new tenant in 5-7 days. How is that fair? 4. Capital place and Mark-Taylor clearly have no actual concern for their tenants. We were one of the first people to move here and management has changed around so much, the front desk treats you like an unwanted visitor every they see you and hide behind their corporate policies rather than using common sense. 5. Getting a package is completely up to chance. Staff will say they are in the office during certain hours, then be completely absent during those hours for days. They constantly are unorganized with mail, and we have had our packages stored under the wrong apartment number, and received other peoples' packages erroneously for years. We literally deliver other peoples packages in our complex to their front door more than the staff does. 6. No one enforces any type of dog policy. The entire complex is surrounded by dog poop and it smells. 7. The parking garage is a mess. The garage gate is in perpetual repair and anyone off the street can walk into the parking garage whenever they'd like. I had to cut my list short due to limited characters. Bottom line is live anywhere else, but don't waste your money here.

Thank you so much for reaching out, and we apologize for the frustrations and miscommunication. We'll continue to work with you directly on your lease and move-out date, and appreciate the opportunity to learn from your perspective so we can continue to improve. Our community member's experience is our priority and we wish you well in your new home. Thank you,
I am one of the first tenants in 12 capital place. While it was great at first, as others have noted, management changed and I am glad to be leaving capital place soon. I am not one to post negative things like this but as Mark-Taylor has not been been able to remove a fee of $1000 despite my paying $46,800 with no late payments over the last 3 years...here is a list of reasons to consider living elsewhere that I was going to keep to myself. 1. Poor communication with staff. They will provide "courtesy" emails as to any upcoming changes that will mean more money for the tenant AFTER the deadline for the increased charge has passed. "It's in the lease," they will say. While this is true, they aren't about to alert you of the details that make them more money. Also completing any paperwork requires countless in person requests, phone calls and emails. 2. Indoor parking is not guaranteed for all tenants and even for those who do have indoor parking, the gates are broken 90% of the time. This is a problem as this complex isn't in the best part of town. I've seen my share of shattered car windows. 3. Getting packages is a hassle because the packages are kept in a locked room which only staff have access to and only during business hours. The staff is often at the other building during business hours which means you have to come back later. In the rare case someone is there after business hours, they won't give you your package even if it's 6:01 PM. 4. Social areas like the lounge are only available during business hours (they used to be available 24 hours a day). 5. If you choose to move here anyway, it's not going to be easy. They no longer give tenants the keys to the elevator before moving in or out and also ask that you not prop the elevator door open because it breaks the elevator. So you'll be using the stairs or it will take you double the time (and if you're hiring movers, it will cost you double the money) to move.

I have never felt the need to leave reviews till now. Good location horrible management. Lies about events for tenants. Park in the wrong spot one time and you will be towed without being told and left to find it on your own. This doesn’t include the things that don’t bother me but bother others such as noise, paper thin walls, slow maintenance responses, etc. Good luck.

When I initially moved in I was so thrilled! Our community was beautiful, the staff was fantastic, the people living here great but boy things have completely changed. People living here now are not the people I want to surround myself amongst. We have seen suspicious behavior (more than likely drug deals). Parking is an absolute nightmare! We PAY for two parking spaces, and I have had to park my vehicle in the visitor parking MULTIPLE TIMES because ALL the spaces in the garage were taken. I had my car parked in a space inside the garage one evening and someone pushed my car mirror in. I'd rather them do that then hit my car but the fact they had plenty of space and still touched my vehicle infuriates me! At least have the decency to put it back! I've complained multiple times about people parking in two spaces. The gate is always broken and usually doesn't get fixed for WEEKS. I love animals but there are always urine stains in the hallways, I have seen people be so lazy they go to the pool on the 2nd floor and have their pets do their business in the grass next to the pool (which I have seen people lay out on, tan on, or walk barefoot on). Pets aren't allowed in the pool area for a reason. The "security" is an absolute joke, I'll just leave that short and sweet. A couple of weeks ago my boyfriend was in his UNDERWEAR and I was just in the other room in my underwear as well, mind you this is my home until late August and the maintenance guys opened the door out of nowhere! We have NOT put in a work order for them to come into our apartment! Everything is working just fine! My boyfriend and I feel VIOLATED and unsafe about relaxing in our own home because apparently people might come barging in! To resolve the issue, the maintenance supervisor just got a slap on the hand (just told not to let it happen again). The new manager said I could break my lease early without extra charges but my new apartment won't be ready until late August. The current assistant manager has an attitude problem and we only spoke once. This property has seen three different property managers in the past year. I'm moving out of this place in late August and I am counting down the days because this place is horrible, the residents are horrible, don't waste your money here. Their standards of living here have lowered and it definitely shows in the community. This place is not as nice as it was a year ago. The only good thing they have going for them is Johnny.
