Property Ratings at Carmel Center
I lived at Carmel Center Apartments for 3+ years, and it was absolutely wonderful until November 2023 when The Connor Group bought the property. Once the new owners had taken over, we experienced: multiple issues with the rent and billing (being charged multiple times, switching billing services multiple times), maintenance work taking about a month to complete, trash piling up around the dumpster on multiple occasions, large pieces of trash littered around the grounds, and small things like the latch on the dumpster door going unfixed for weeks. At one point they started opting people into Spectrum packages without any say otherwise. When I moved out, they continued to charge me for internet/cable, stating it was part of my lease (which it was not). I absolutely do not recommend living at Carmel Center Apartments anymore due to the new ownership. We moved out and are very happy to never have to deal with The Connor Group again.
Used to be a great place to live, however, the new owners (connorgroup) have ruined it. They raised the cost of rent by $400 over the previous year. The communication was the worst part however, easily the worst communication from any apartment complex I have ever lived at. They forced an internet provider on me halfway through my lease and then forced me to pay for the service after we disconnected. When I went in to dispute it, they told me they would remove the charge. However, we got an email a few days later saying they would not honor that agreement. Another time, they decided to paint the exterior of the complex but provided no warnings to residents on which buildings they would be painting and when. Instead, tarps were thrown over cars parked outside without their owners consent. Finally, they provided me with no move out guidelines or procedures when I luckily got out of there. In fact they never responded to my 60 day notice email. I strongly urge those looking to live here to choose somewhere else. There are other nice apartments in Carmel that care about their residents.
I lived at Carmel Center for a few years and recently moved. I wanted to give a little time before writing a review to see how living other places are. When I first moved to Carmel Center it was great, the staff was communicative and the grounds we well kept. I did have several issues that I felt were not given propter attention that really made my first year stressful including heat not working, washing machines leaking, pests, and loud dogs. Over the last year the grounds and common areas have not properly maintained and the staff is not helpful. There is no fob to get into the main build, so people who don't live there can come and go. This is especially stressful as Carmel is growing and there are more events in this area. The do not enforce any of the rules they try to put in place. People park anywhere they want at night - in the middle of the road even and the office does not care. People let their dogs use the bathroom wherever they want, including sidewalks and inside buildings and again the staff does nothing to enforce rules. They make you pay for vallet trash but it seems the trash company picks and chooses when they want to come and take your trash. Carmel Center is so wishy washy about the rules. If you pay for a month storage locker, be careful because they let anyone store whatever they want outside those lockers, when you report it, because you're paying for a storage locker, again nothing happens. The walls are really thin and you constantly hear your neighbors but I think that comes with any apartment. All in all, the location is great but Carmel is building up so much there are tons of other great options of places to live in Carmel that are less expensive and better managed.
Thin walls, ancient appliances, drafty windows, barking dogs from all directions, constant construction, inability to use amenities that you're paying for, etc. Don't let the fancy new leasing office fool you. Once you're here, you'll realize this is just a typical cheaply built apartment property that charges premium prices. That's the truth. Not recommended.
We have lived at Carmel Center for 7 years and love the location and apartment. We have our own garage that makes for a safe car storage and a great patio that is large enough to accommodate multiple people. The maintenance staff is very good and promptly takes care of issues although we have had very few. The location by the Monon trail, Performing Arts Center and Farmer's market is great. There are many good restaurants near by. The other ammendities such as the gym are nice and easy to use.
Location is everything with Carmel Center Apartments. This property is within easy walking distance to the Carmel Arts District/Main Street, the Ice Rink, the Palladium, Monon Trail and restaurants and shops at the Carmel City Center. Neighbors are primarily professional and the property is pet friendly. The staff is great and always responsive to our needs. Definitely check this place out. Rick Clawson
I've been a resident for two years now, getting ready to renew again this year, and I have nothing but great things to say about Carmel Center. I've been in both a two bedroom and a one bedroom, both of which were spacious with new appliances and a new washer/dryer in unit. Any maintenance issue was addressed either same day or next day, regardless of how minor the issue was. They are extremely pet and family friendly, and I've experienced no issues with noise from neighbors. The common areas are always clean, and there is always free coffee/tea/hot chocolate in the office area if you don't want to make your own. They also have a rent-able unit that is fully furnished, perfect for housing a friend or family member that is in town for a few days. I would highly recommend to anyone that is considering living in Carmel Center, and I plan on living here for the foreseeable future. -Clayton Moore
Great apartment! Everyone is so friendly especially the staff. All my requests so far have been met and dealt with promptly. The free starbucks coffee in the lobby everyday is an amazing benefit to living here!
nice complex, downside is owners don’t often pickup after their dogs. mgmt has addressed this with tenants though. leasing office staff is professional and they address concerns and inquiries in a timely manner. -kim dumont
Classy, spacious 2 bed/2 bath unit with lots of extras. Grounds are well kept. Office staff are professional and friendly; maintenance staff is exceptional. I transitioned from owning my own home, and am still adjusting to how the residents are spoiled in terms of how basic household upkeep is taken care of by the maintenance team. If I have put in a request for assistance with something extra, it's been attended to within a day. I do agree with the post below about noise level though. Currently, the above and below me are empty. I do not look forward to a new resident, because even from the carpeted unit above me, the noise when they are just showing the unit is unacceptable. I do not agree with the walk score. Carmel Center is across from The Center for Performing Arts, City Center, and steps from the Monon and all it has to offer! I have definitely improved my quality of life by moving here. Well, in all ways except for feet above me! Ann Rogers
I’ve lived here going on 2 years and it has been great! The location is perfect. You are within walking distance to food and breweries in addition to the well-maintained Monon walking trail. The best part is looking out my window to the reflection pond. It has a resort feel to it with the fountain in the summertime. This place was already super dog-friendly when I moved in, but to top that, Carmel Center recently added a dog wash room in the main building that is the same quality as the dog washes you would otherwise have to pay for at the local pet stores. The finishes in the apartment itself are really nice (floors, countertops, tray ceilings, GIANT bathtub) and make the rent totally reasonable. - Jessica Nelson
Carmel Center Apartments are amazing to live in. They are very close to the Carmel City Center. They are very updated and modern. They have great customer service and maintenance. Very reasonable prices compared to other apartments in Carmel. -Danielle Vansickle
I have lived here for almost16 years, which is a testimony in itself. Office personnel are always helpful, and maintenance personnel are prompt, efficient and friendly. The grounds are well kept and sidewalks cleared in snowy weather. There are numerous activities planned for residents, and great exercise facilities. I highly recommend Carmel Center as a place to live! Kara Kercheval
Carmel Center Apartments has been a great place to live. The townhouses are spacious with lots of storage. Very pet friendly complex with plenty of doggie stations and tons of grassy areas. The staff made the application and move in process so stressfree. Kat, especially, went above and beyond helping to secure a townhouse within my tight moving deadline and supplying any pictures or requests needed as I was out of state. The complex is also conveniently located and within walking distance to City Center, Monon Trail, and the Carmel Art and District District - Ashley Stafford
Fabulous location! Close to everything - Palladium, summer market, Monon Trail, downtown Carmel, etc. Apartments have been updated. Maintenance crew is great and very responsive! Management tries to engage renters by holding special events throughout the year. Pool and grill area are wonderful. Susan Johnson
Carmel Center Apartments so far have been very enjoyable to live in. The layout of the apartment was perfect and had everything my roommate and I wanted in a new place. Perks include a wine fridge, huge bathtubs, nice porch, and both bedrooms being very close in size. I look forward to when the weather gets warmer so i will be able to ride my bike to all the restaurants nearby and ride on the Monon! -Rachel Reising
I have lived here for about a year and just renewed my lease as I am so happy living here! Living within minutes walking distance to the Monon and all of the happenings at City Center have made for incredible access to year-round fun. I absolutely love being able to look out at the Reflection Pool in the summer, and seeing the lights lit up in it in the winter! It is incredibly safe, the amenities are fantastic (my FAVORITE is the amazing fire pit!!), and all of my neighbors are wonderful and quiet. I have had a handle of minor maintenance issues that have been fixed within hours (even after hours), and everyone at the front desk is extremely responsive! I also love how many resident events they put on (like yoga by the reflection pool, trivia nights, and wine nights!). I have lived in Broad Ripple, Fountain Square, and now Carmel, and this is by far my favorite location as well as complex that I have lived in yet. I am looking forward to another year here!
Love how close I am to dining and entertainment. The Monon is only a block away and a great place to stretch your legs or ride your bike. The apartments are comfortable with an open living space and a nice size balcony to enjoy warm evenings!
It’s been great knowing that I don’t have to worry about my mother when she is home at night! I know that City Center Apartments is a safe place to live!
This apartment complex is definitely not worth the price you pay. Extremely noisy (dog kennel in back of complex), maintenance requests ignored, incompetent staff , you can hear your upstairs neighbor sneeze... overall, not worth the money!!
Dog kennel in back of property - over 10 dogs barking all at once from 7am-5pm , including all holidays. Maintenance requests are ignored. Pests invading certain areas of the apartment. The staff are quick to blame resident for their negligence. Overall, apartment complex is NOT worth the money !
I've been living here for a few months and I absolutely love the place! For starters, the apartments are spacious, updated and have a good layout. The staff are friendly, the maintenance are quick to respond, and decor are on point, and the view around surrounding the apartment is beautiful! Close to the downtown Carmel, the Performance Art theater, and Monon trail. Highly recommend!
These apartments have been nicely renovated and the grounds are beautiful. Great proximity to shops and restaurants. However, the appliances are cheap and breakdown frequently and it takes maintenance several days to repair them. Our dishwasher was broken and unusable for nine days. Our washer was broken for three days. Refrigerator for two. Anything deemed "not an emergency" is left broken for multiple days. Our bedroom flooded twice and was unusable for three weeks, due to mold and water damage. Now there is still mold growing up the wall, but they've deemed it just a stain and have not repaired it. There is also a kennel directly behind this complex. The dogs bark constantly from sunup to sundown and the apartment management says they can do nothing about it. The sheriff's office came out and gave the kennel a citation, but the barking continues. It is impossible to sleep beyond 6:30 am any morning due to the incessant barking. We are unable to use the nice screened in porch due to the deafening barking. If you want to open your windows, forget it. It is so loud you cannot speak with your family. There are many apartments in Carmel where you can spend the same amount or less for rent and you can actually enjoy your apartment and use the appliances every day. We will be leaving as soon as our lease is up.
Carmel Center is great for living. The proximity to downtown Carmel and downtown Indy isn't too shabby. The apartments are actually pretty decent. However, the customer service here is poor. Not like, the kind of poor customer service when McDonalds gives you onions on a burger when you asked them not to put onions on your burger- worse. I would compare the customer service at Carmel Center like going to a McDonalds for a simple small fry at 3 in the afternoon on a Saturday and then they slash your tires while you're waiting in the drive through. Buyer (renter..they'll make it apparent) beware. This is a "working community." Meaning, from 7am-midnight the grounds crew..or subcontractors, who apparently do not need to adhere to Indiana state law, can enter your apartment without notice at any time, non-emergency related, will waltz right in and take over your quality of life. Honestly, spend your hard earned money elsewhere. There's plenty of other options with renovated apartments that you'll enjoy much more. Hope this helps! Run.
Best location in Carmel! Spacious apartments and well maintained!!!
I have lived here for the last 8 yrs. Everyone from the staff to the maintenance crew have been wonderful. They go out of their way to make sure you are happy. It is a very quiet complex, beautifully kept and so convenient to so much; downtown arts district, monon trail, restaurants, farmers market on Saturdays & concerts in the park. Very dog friendly and lots of places to walk them. If you need anything, all you have to do is ask and they do their very best to accommodate!
I lived at Carmel Center for 3 years before I got a job transfer and had to move. Their staff was always friendly and their maintenance team came right away to fix whatever issues I had no matter how big or small. The community is extremely beautiful with a prime location and I loved how they were always striving to make improvements! If I ever move back in the area I will be living there again!
The reason we chose this apartment to live in is because of the convenience! It is in walking distance to great restaurants, the downtown Carmel Arts District and the Monon. Also what set the apartments apart was the crown molding and finishes in the apartment. I have a roommate and we chose the floor plan where the bedrooms were exactly the same. Couldn't of made a better decision.
The property was near downtown Carmel art district and Monon trails which is desirable. We would have like to be in that area. The apartment was nice however seemed extremely small. Our bed would not have fit in the one bedroom. I really liked the Manager, friendly and understanding about our needs and downsizing plan. We have 1 small dog and 1 median size dog. Management had ask the city for approval for a dog park however there was no real idea of when this would happen. We ended up choosing a more dog friendly place over the location.
