Property Ratings at Casa Baywood
Been happily living here for 5 years in a studio apt that is the size of a typical 1 br in most other places. The apt building is located right on El Camino in downtown San Mateo, next to trees and a good view of the hills. The on-site property manager Elvis is the most helpful, nicest, and friendly guy - he keeps the building in good shape and goes above and beyond to get things fixed quickly when needed.
I've lived in a studio apartment at Casa Baywood for more than three years. The location is perfect for walking to everything downtown San Mateo has to offer. I appreciate the spacious feel with high ceilings, huge windows, and arched doorways. Units have more closet and storage space than other apartment buildings. The property manager lives in the building and he is friendly, helpful, and responsive. You can tell he cares about the building and its residents. The building and grounds are well maintained. The exterior landscaping is attractive. I feel safe with the locked exterior entrance door that always closes automatically and the security camera capturing everyone coming in. The intercom at the front entrance dials my cell phone when I need to provide access to a guest. It is a short drive to Highways 101 and 92. On-site laundry room. CONS: --no reserved parking for studio apartment tenants (street parking for me averages about 1 1/2 blocks from building, sometimes closer, rarely 3 blocks at most; on the plus side there is a driveway for unloading) --fewer electrical outlets than new construction, water shutoffs and repairs may be a little more frequent than newer buildings --located on El Camino, which is convenient, but busy and can be noisy (depending on the location of the unit in the building relative to El Camino)
CasaBaywood has been a fantastic place to live! The property is gorgeous and the location is convenient for public transportation and access to downtown San Mateo. The property manager does a great job maintaining the property and has a good rapport with the tenants. I would recommended these apartments to friends and family.
