Property Ratings at Casa Loma
I really enjoyed living at Casa Loma for the last 2 years. The location is amazing, being within a 10 minute walk of anything on the plaza. I particularly liked being a block away from Chipotle. The all inclusive rent for the apartment makes it very easy to budget and made paying bills much easier. It's already hooked up to Google Fiber, which was a major selling point for me. Overall the Management and Maintenance at Casa Loma was absolutely amazing. Everyone that worked there was very friendly and helpful. They always gave proper notice if someone would be entering my apartment, which really only happened when they changed the A/C filter or had Orkin come check for bugs. I had to call them once after hours and they were very quick to respond to the situation. The building has it's quirks. The elevators are a little small and the pink entry doors are pretty darn ugly. Most of the quirks are due to the building having been a hotel back in the day, which I understand. I really liked that the building is quite. The thick concrete walls make it almost impossible to hear your neighbors. The laundry rooms have been recently updated with new washers and dryers. They are almost never busy, so getting your laundry finished is quick and simple. The pool outside was nice to have on the hot summer days. The patio connected is a great place to meet your neighbors too. Overall, I was very happy with my experience at Casa Loma. The building has a great location and has very competitive rates for the area. The management and maintenance exceeded my expectations. I'll definitely be recommending this place to friends that are looking to move to the Plaza area.
This a classic old building built in the 1930s so that's your starting point and it gets better from there. This building has delightful stuff life steam heat and radiators that clank as they heat up and cool down. It has window air conditioners. It has concrete floors so the noise from your upstairs neighbor is seriously abated. The hot water is hot as soon as you turn on the faucet. The delightful staff delivers your packages to your apartment. It has no parking lot of its own, but the building is surrounded by street parking or you can pay to park in a lot a couple blocks away. OOPS, I almost forgot: utilities are included in the rent. Best of all the delightful stuff about this building? LIVING ON THE PLAZA IS GOOD!
I've lived at Casa Loma for a month now and absolutely love it. I live in a 320 sq. ft. studio, but it's turned out to be the perfect amount of space for me. That size might turn some people off, but as a single young professional, I travel almost 80% of the time and don't need a spacious floor plan to survive. They have lots of floor plans available with a lot more square footage, I just opted for the smallest one. The apartment--the whole building--is immaculately clean and well maintained. The staff is very friendly and helpful and it's obvious they take a lot of pride in what they do at Casa Loma. The owner of the building is always stopping by to make sure everything is in perfect condition. The location is as prime as it gets in KC, just steps away from the famous Country Club Plaza, a 5 minute drive to Westport, and a 10 minute ride to downtown. The neighborhood is very well lit, busy, and safe. Just south of Casa Loma is some of the most beautiful, prime real estate in all of Kansas City, surrounded by adorable parks and walking trails. Every night there are people running or walking their dogs through the neighborhood, and of course the Plaza is always hopping with tourists. Parking isn't an issue if you take advantage of the discounted garage pass the apartment staff offers. As old as the building is, the staff has done a great job of maintaining the architectural integrity and old world charm but ensuring that every amenity is up to date and in working condition. The whole building is smoke and pet free, which is very strictly enforced, and keeps the demographic of the building respectful and quiet. Plus--and this might be the best feature of the building--all utilities are included in your rent! If it sounds too good to be true, it's not. I really have enjoyed my time so far at Casa Loma, and am looking forward to becoming one of their famed "long term residents" (some people have lived there over 20 years!!).
