Travis Heights is characterful neighborhood in south central Austin. It sits on the southern shore of Lady Bird Lake, with the St. Edwards neighborhood located directly to the south. Travis Heights developed in the late 19th and early 20th centuries as Austin's first planned urban community south of the Colorado River.
It may be just outside the city center, but the neighborhood has a plethora of buzzy restaurants and trendy bars to experience. You’ll find the best collection along South Congress Avenue, but there are plenty of popular spots within walking or biking distance.
Travis Heights is full of unique homes and apartment offerings. There are contemporary apartments, grandiose mansions, and humble bungalows all calling the area home. Unless your rental is near the water, you’ll want to get out along the boardwalk to get a glimpse of the city, or enjoy the southern climate at one of the Stacy Neighborhood Parks.

Property Ratings at Cascade Apartments
This place is not what is advertised. None of the amenities on the website have been available to us for the better part of the last six months. Pool is usually cold, green with floating leaves or the debris. The laundry is not working. Machines are either out of service or the ceiling has collapsed, or both. You have to haul your hampers to the laundromat Hard to get any kind of help from the office which seems to have a revolving door. You can blame the stuff from wanting to work for a better place to actually cares. Rodents and roaches seem to own the place
I've been living at Cascade Apartments for a few months now, and I'm pleasantly how great this apt is. Things just seem to be kept clean all the time, and I really appreciate that. The apartment unit is cozy and feels like home to me, and I haven't had any problems with pests or noisy neighbours. Anytime I've had a maintenance issue, the team has addressed it quickly and thoroughly. Honestly, I wasn't expecting to find an affordable and clean living space in the heart of the city, but Cascade Apartments have definitely exceeded my expectations and its a great price for austin apartments. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.
This apartment complex is terrible want to hear rats running through your ceiling this is the place want to move out and get a call falsely saying you owe a $1000 but slow to get you your security deposit back this is your place!
I have been a resident for about a year and a half. The water is constantly shut off with no warning and the office is rarely staffed during office hours, meaning that management is rarely available to assist when needed. The lack of concern for resident needs is disrespectful- avoid this property.
Property Manager at Cascade Apartments, Responded To This Review
Hello, I am so sorry to hear about you negative experience at Cascade Apartments. We make customer satisfaction our number one priority. I do hope that I can make contact with you as soon as possible to discuss and come up with a plan to resolve any issues you may be experiencing. Please email me directly at a.martin@cooperstreetcapital. I look forward to hearing from you. Have a great weekend! Angie M.; Regional Manager.
The worst. I’ve lived here for 2 years and have countless issues. There have been 3 or 4 different management companies in those 2 years and the current one is the absolute worst. Most recent issues have been: the pool was closed for almost a year and since it’s been back to operating, it’s mostly unusable because They do not clean it. The washers and dryers never work or function correctly...and the washers have NO hot water. I’ve notified the staff several times and they have nothing but excuses and will not supply hot water for laundry. They literally could not care less. The weekend staff is especially horrible- not caring at all. Just today, they sent out an announcement email at 11am about concrete and construction work being done today and I got home from work to have my door yellow taped off and concrete dust EVERYWHERE- COMPLETELY covering my door, outdoor decor...and because there is a crack under my door, the concrete dust was forced / blown under my door and there is now a layer of concrete dust over everything in my den (at least). THAT IS A HEALTH HAZARD. This dust was is in the air- I can literally smell it right now, inside my home. This is just the most recent issue and I a SURE the staff will do nothing about it. They are HORRIBLE. They are turning this into a horrible place to live. Back to the washers and dryers- their most recent announcement is that everyone is receiving a washer dryer in their apartment. Have said nothing about raising rent costs but I feel that is coming. Also, instead of placing / fitting the w/d into a closet...they plan to place it in my bedroom, in the open, in the corner. In the corner of my bedroom. Who does that??! Other issues in the past have included: water gushing into my apartment through a crack in the side wall (I am a corner unit) and calling the after hours maintenance emergency number with no call back until the next day, there have been homeless people using the laundry room before and after alerting the office, they refused to change the security code for the laundry room door lock (there currently isn’t even a door lock anymore), there was a shooting literally 30ft from my door and the staff refused to put up security cameras in that area outside. This is all in TRAVIS HEIGHTS neighborhood, mind you. This is a nice area. THE STAFF NEED TO FIT THAT EXPECTED LEVEL OF LIVING. They are lazy and literally do not care about doing the right thing and running a successful management operation.
Almost at the end of my lease, and I do still like these apartments after a year. Lot of downsides but good for the price. Location is amazing but being on the first floor there is pretty much nothing to do about the roach problem. Also my upstairs neighbors constantly drop garbage and stuff off their porch onto my slab. Repairs always done in a timely manner though!
PLEASE READ BEFORE APPLYING. THIS PLACE IS A MESS. Luckily, I never ended up living here. However, I Spent almost four months going back and forth with management about renting a unit. They told me I could use my one month free to spread it out over the entire lease, making it much cheaper per month. Sadly, they took almost another two month to actually send me the lease, and when they did, they were going to charge me almost 300$ a month more than we agreed upon! When I tried to call Algarita, they told me the woman who gave me the deal no longer works with them and they do not honor those kind of deal. But they said they would check with their supervisors and get back to me. They never called me back and I had to spend a week trying to get back in contact with them. They ended up sending me the lease with an inflated price TWO MORE TIMES!! They were trying to squeeze more money out of me, hoping I wouldn’t read the lease. If you take away anything from this, please please don’t waste as much time as I did with these incompetent people. I ended up having to scramble to find a new place to live 3 weeks before moving to Austin. Management is awful, they don’t care about you or your complaints, and I feel lucky to have dodged a major bullet by not living here. If I could give this place zero stars, I would.
Lived here for two years and had multiple floods in the apartment. The management was horrible. The original manager, Nikki, was awesome, but the two latest office managers were not helpful and at times very rude. We got flooded more than four times and had to move out and then they charged us for the carpet when we moved out, despite the fact that leaks damaged the carpet. The management doesn't respond or answer phone calls or emails. In addition, the renovations are cheaply done and it is the opposite of luxory apartments. I would not recommend living here.
Got free basic cable and Internet. Though it is Time Warner, would rather have Google Fiber, but we are not a Fiber hood location yet. So can't fault them for that. The complex is pretty quite, which is nice, hardly ever see any kids. Also don't expect much from the gym very tiny. But you are in a quite neighborhood and can run the trail at Little Stacy Park. Speaking of location, you are next to the Whip In, which has an amazing beer selection to go, beer-mimosa for brunch, and some really good Indian fusion food. Then next door, is liquor store, if you need something a little stronger. But back to the apartment, you also have newer A/C units which helps save on your electric bills. Which is a common mistake for renters. Due to heating and cooling being 50 to 60% of your energy bill. So that new A/C really helps. I would say the only down fall for this place is the Gym.
We moved in about three months ago and it has been a nice stay. Our neighbors can be heard when they walk and what not, but its an apartment. The staff is wonderful, and very friendly. I would recommend this place to others.
"Botoxed" but beautiful. AMenities & a great location
I've been a resident at Algarita for almost two years, and it's been great. I love living there- the staff is great, the sense of community is second to none, and it feels like home. It's a very animal-friendly apartment complex, which is awesome for me- I have a dog and a cat. Nikki in the front office is the best property manager anyone could ask for- she knows you, takes care of you and ensures that you always feel confident in your home. I'm not moving anytime soon!
The best thing about this complex is its location. The property is so old and the renovations are a joke as they are poorly and cheaply done. The place does not have a sense of luxury. Management is okay but they do a horrible job with maintenance requests. You have to ask for something multiple times until it gets done. Then you have to ask multiple times to actually get it done right. I will not be renewing my lease
