It may not have the flashy reputation of San Francisco or Los Angeles, but Sacramento embodies the very best of what makes California so unique. The city is well known for preserving its history, from early settlements like Sutter’s Fort to the gorgeous 19th century architecture of Old Sacramento to the artifacts in the Sacramento History Museum. Pop culture and the fine arts are well-represented, with local stages hosting symphony concerts and rock shows and galleries displaying works by the old masters as well as modern upstarts. The local restaurant scene is famous for its heavy emphasis on “farm to fork” principles, making it one of the best places to find fresh, locally sourced food.
Those living in Sacramento love to take advantage of the mild climate, whether that means biking the River Trail, taking the kids to Fairytale Town, or heading over to Sutter Health Park to catch a River Cats baseball game.

Property Ratings at The Cascades Apartments
We love our apartment here at The Cascades. We have lived here for about 2 years and moved right after college graduation. It provided a great apartment with affordable rent. We live in one of the upgraded apartments that has new cabinets and lino hardwood floor in the kitchen and bathrooms. I would recommend these apartments to anyone just getting out on their own, but I would say that the office management needs to take more care in the presentation of the grounds. The main groundskeeper needs help. He does do a great job, but the grounds still get filthy from people littering, etc.
The Cascades apartments are limited income rental apartments. The approval process can be quite stressful and lengthy....I didn't find out if I was approved to move in or not until the day before I had to be out of my previous residence. So make sure you apply in advance as much as possible. The leasing staff office workers are okay, while attempting to be "professional" to me they come off more as cold and heartless with the exception of one friendly person that actually acts like a human being. I have a two bedroom apartment which is a rather decent size, especially the master bedroom with master bathroom and a nice walk in closet. The outdoor area has enormous mature trees that make for a nice atmosphere. The patio is a bit on the small side and the storage is actually locked and not accessible to tenants :( The neighborhood is a bit on the sketchy side which is the main reason I will be moving once my lease is up as well as the fact that the upstairs neighbors have no regard for the amount of noise they make even after many complaints to the management. Overall it's been an ok place to live, but the slightly lower price for the amount of apartment you get just doesn't outweigh the cons for me.
