About 40 miles north of Dallas and Fort Worth, Denton is an energetic, progressive community in the heart of the DFW Metro. Even by Texas standards, Denton is booming – it is one of the nation’s fastest growing communities. It’s a college town, home to the University of North Texas and Texas Woman’s University, but it’s also a hub for business and tourism, located near Lewisville Lake and only a few minutes south of Ray Roberts Lake.
The 35 Denton Music Festival and Denton Arts and Jazz Festival are both signature events with great tunes and dancing. You’ll find tons of things to experience in this suburban city. Spend your days at nearby Lewisville Lake or shop the stores at Golden Triangle Mall.
Local restaurants thrive in the downtown area, like LSA Burger Co. With its unique burgers, rooftop patio bar, and live bands, this Lone Star Attitude-inspired eatery offers a true Texas atmosphere.

Property Ratings at The Leonard
Lived here during the transition from Castle Rock to the new not so great name, should've kept the name. They will charge you for damages they were not your fault and for blinds and damages left behind the previous ownership of the property. Do not stay here if you don't like bugs or spiders.
Property Manager at The Leonard, Responded To This Review
Hi, Victor. We appreciate your input and are here to clarify any concerns you may have about the charges. Please feel free to reach out to us or stop by the clubhouse, and we'll do our best to address the situation. -Team Leonard
Forewarning, do not live here. It was a big waste of money and time to be dealing with all problems you should not have to trouble with when you are a full time college student. On our first few months in the new complex, my roommates and I had to repeatedly request for things to be fixed/replaced such as our leaky water heater, smoking dryer, and sensitive garbage disposal. The kitchen had drawers that were barely a half foot in width, making it difficult to store anything. In fact one of the drawers could hardly even open due to flawed engineering. Roaches were happily living in our microwave and could be seen crawling over the clock on occasions. There was mold in our freezer on move in day and the apartment itself was not clean at all. Just to define how bad the place is, our neighbors had to wait the day of move in because their carpets were covered in dog poop stains. Former repairs to the outside of the complex could be seen painted over, looking tacky and fragile, making it look unsafe.

Hi, there. We sincerely apologize for any maintenance issues you faced. Cleanliness is extremely important to us and our maintenance team and outside vendors (if applicable) do their best to get matters resolved as soon as possible. Thank you for your feedback. -Team CastleRock
DO NOT RENT AN APARTMENT HERE. Horrible complex. First off, when we first moved in we were living in a roach-infested apartment. After about four days of begging they finally switched us to a "better" apartment. Appliances keep breaking; the water heater broke and flooded as well as the dishwasher. The fully furnished apartment has horrible furniture; not comfortable and also breaks. Visitors who park will get towed unless you register them in app. Even if they park in visitor parking they still have to go and register. You have to register EVERY TIME. It is such a hassle. Not happy, will not be re-leasing here. Do yourself a favor and rent somewhere else.
I hated living here about a month in lol, lazy and unprofessional should be their name this place is just awful. Last week for example I called asking what these charges of water and ac we’re on my rent Bc I was told before I even moved in “ALL FEES INCLUDED IN THE RENT PRICE” welp nope called the lazy guy that never helps with anything he gave me the weakest apology a man could give and said “oh yeah you get charged for utilities sorry about that”. Please don’t love here poor is an understatement.
Castlerock is very trash, every building has roaches and management sucks. Saveyour time and money.
Check the Denton Police Department records regarding times called to complex for chronic complaints of misconduct, car break-Ins, out-of-control partying and alleged drug sales. Ask about the homicide on site. When I called the Atlanta Home Office to see if I could break my lease and move elsewhere, I was told by the District Manager three different times that “Castle Rock does not guarantee safety”. Not comforting to a first year student to say the least. Parents don’t move your kids into this unsafe complex.
Good Evening, You Final Account Statement was emailed to you today, and you should be receiving a mailed copy as well within the next week. This will have the details of the charges in which you have received. If you have any questions feel free to call or email us at anytime. Have A Great Day! I moved out from finishing college, but mainly because I was in the process of deploying with the national guard. I didn't receive an invoice or anything and repeatedly got the run around from them about charges that showed up on my account. I have no email or mailed copy, the property manager refuses to speak to me and the people that work there don't know anything. Not only that my old truck got towed for no reason with a pass. Nothing works in the apartments maintenance is terrible. I would strongly discourage anyone from living here.
A lot of renovations and sometimes the staff can be rude .
I like the grounds they keep that up the gym is kept up ok the pool area is always nice and clean. These staff members are mostly nice and when an emergency things are taken care of as soon as possible in a timely manner. There has been some issues with car thefts but they did add security on every day now which is nice to know. For the most part things are pretty quiet not really many problems and feel pretty safe. These square food footage is pretty good and some upgrades - some upgrades to I think the rent is a little steep. But overall it's pretty on the outside grounds nice in the inside of the apartments and they have some events here and there chance to get to know your neighbors which is always nice. I would recommend Two friends except for the price is a little high. and I have some you then here in there chance to get to know your neighbors which is always nice. I would recommend 2 friends except for the price is a little high.
I think this is one of the worst possible places to live in Denton, as far as college/student housing is concerned. What a crazy crazy year to live here. MY problems started even before i moved into this place. Walked in to apply because i was subleasing for someone.. and people just looked at me until i told them i wanted to sign a lease. then. they handed me an ipad to fill it out because they went "paperless" - even though they put out paper notices and stuff all the time - i was told that i would be good to go. a couple weeks went by, i still had no word on what I would be living, or who my roommates would be, when to move in, etc. So, I called. ANNND called. ANNND called. Finally i was able to speak to someone the MONDAY of the weekend i was supposed to move. only to find out that THEY HADN'T PROCESSED MY APPLICATION!!!! it had been 2 weeks!!!!! anyways, i talked to a bunch of rude people. finally got them to process my application. and i thought that would be the last of my issues. Boy, was I wrong. I presented my pay stubs to prove i make the required 2.5x the amount of rent. thought that was easy. but they wouldn't take it. and made me find a guarantor. (oh this was 2 days before move in) I wanted to move August 1st, but was told they werent letting anyone move in until August 20th, but we had to pay a full months rent?!? Move in was a mess. everyone was rude. the place was dirty. things were broken etc. the first few months were good. didnt have too many problems. but then weird things started happening in my apartment complex. there was a shooting, 2-3 ppl died and they placed us on lockdown because there was an escaped killer on the loose. So then they changed management. And i thought new management was going to be better. WRONG. they gave us gate keys, but the gate keys stopped working. they started renovating, painting, on the weekends. changing floors and painting during the weekend? ohh. just to throw something out there. i dont have consistent hot water in my apartment, even though i have called and called and put in maintenance request.
