Property Ratings at Castlebrook Apartments
This apartment complex has gone down consistently since I’ve been a tenant. The floors and plumbing have always been terrible, you can hear everything from your neighbor’s sneeze to them turning on their shower. It wakes you up in the morning. We waited a year or not more for grilling area updates, only for it to be another year before we could use it then it did not work. Reduced the days you have to pay your rent before late fees are assessed but you must wait months, years for some maintenance concerns. Bugs are crazy, squirrels are crazy, neighbors leave out trash despite the trash bins being emptied regularly and management does not care as long as that person continues to pay their rent. You will smell smoking so be as thorough as possible when asking questions if you choose to rent here, because they purposely leave out information and later blame you for not asking.

These apartments have MAJOR plumbing issues. You have been warned. These apartments have drugs and crime on the property. You have been warned. These apartments have horrible office and maintenance staff. You have been warned.

We're truly sorry to hear about your experiences and appreciate you bringing these issues to our attention. We are committed to addressing these concerns as promptly and thoroughly as possible.
This apartment was my only choice to move in because most apartments don't approve of me and it was my first time living in an apartment. I lived here for almost 2 years but decided to move out 2 months early before my lease because of awful issues! There was a lot of smell odor and weeds that bothered me and made me sick. I let the office know that I moved out and they must know why but I don't like how they want to know why I have to move out because it is my choice to move out or stay... they can't force us to stay whatever they want. They don't care about our happiness..... they just care about MONEY! Sometimes it has bugs anywhere and sometimes MAGGOTS as well! it's so gross! The laundry in the basement is broken and they didn't get it fixed on time! After I moved out, they charged me to pay more than double the cost made me pissed off, and made me pay 2 months until the end of my lease since I wasn't happy in their crap apartment! TRUST ME, don't move there!
I’ve rented here 2 years and I’m sorry I didn’t move out sooner. Office staff changed and made it awful. The apartments got invested with huge roaches and the office handled it terribly. Have also experienced centipedes and crickets in my unit. Was forced multiple times to empty all cabinets and closets and had to keep putting up my pet for 8hrs with little to no notice beforehand. When I had questions, staff was rude or didn’t answer when I called. Took over 2-3 months to resolve and office was completely closed for a time during this for Covid. They also only notify you they’re coming by just leaving a random note on your door as your only warning and often give windows of 8am-4:30pm over several days that they could come any time during. Completely inconvenienced everyone and treated them poorly while they suffered through a disgusting infestation and did no compensation of any kind for compliance. They’re constantly trying to find reasons to have to come into the apartment and make feel like you don’t live there. That you’re lucky they let you, similar treatment in person. They keep hiking the prices every year and only use the money for fancy new signs. While older apartments don’t get renovated and are in need of improvements and bringing kitchens out of the 70s. They’re more worried about being strict on parking permits and keeping litter/dog poop off lawns and guests only park in designated spots with a 24hr pass. Also easy to hear loud people outside as well as neighbors both beside, above, and in the hallways. Often heard neighbors yelling, slamming doors, walking around, or playing extremely loud music after 10pm and couldn’t sleep. Overall, priority is not on resident comfort but outward looks only.

Hello, I am so sorry you had such a bad experience with us. We are doing renovations throughout the property in and out to make our residents stay here comfortable so again I am sorry you didn't feel this way. I would love to speak with you in regards to your issues so I can better our community. Please contact me, Samantha Kane 302-322-7700.
I was told there will be pest control service coming in on a certain and was asked to empty all the cabinets, but they never showed up on the day specified. when I called the office, i was again told that there was some problem so they would come in couple days later. And again they never showed up. I called then on Saturday and I was told again that i would have to wait till next wednesday or friday. This is ridiculous. I have emptied my kitchen cabinets and left them out for 3 days now, and now i either have to reempty the cabinets again the next week or leave them out in the living/dining area for for over a 7+ days. It is extremely difficult when you have to work and go to school during the week/weekends. The services here are sometikes veey bad and it does make living here a pain when you have to re-do things while balancing other things in life. I really dont know if I made a good decision to want to live in this community at times.
The renovations they did to the apartments are nice. It really seems like a good idea to rent there, but trust me, STAY AWAY. It’s in a bad area, the customer service is terrible, and we had issues with squirrels in our ceiling. We lived on the top floor and in the winter, we would hear them scratching and running above our heads CONSTANTLY. It kept us awake for hours. One day, a squirrel got into our HVAC closet from the ceiling. The maintenance guy finally came the next day and said he was going to open the slider and it would run toward the light and go outside. He said “I deal with this all the time,” so clearly it was not just our building like we were told. Finally after MONTHS of complaining, they moved us to a second floor apartment in another building. I’m sure that building had squirrels in the ceiling too (which is a fire hazard) but at least we couldn’t hear them on the 2nd floor. As soon as our lease was up, we got out of there. Of course, it solidified our decision to leave since they were raising our rent by $100 if we stayed. Trust me, just stay away from this place. The name change and renovations didn’t change anything.

Hello Heather S., We are so sorry you had to deal with these types of issues. We are in an open area with a lot of trees and do try our best to keep out all the critters that may try to enter the warmness of a home. We unfortunately can not change the past but only hope to do better in the future. Thank you for your review and hope that you come back to visit one day and see the changes we have made.
Must say their lovely team of highly professional beautiful women in the office are great. They made my move in transition as smooth as possible. The community is huge and gorgeous . Great place to call home !

We are glad to hear that your transition has been a smooth one and that you are enjoying your new home here at Castlebrook! Thank you for the review.
I have had some negative experiences with leasing apartments. But I now feel lucky to call Castlenbrook Home. My apartment is cozy and modern, I Don't see nor barely hear my neighbors, all buildings are secure which gives me a piece of mind. Regardless of what time I come there is ALWAYS ample parking, I have no rodents and the dumpsters are never over flowing. The onboarding process was fast and easy. The leasing agents Amy and Carrie were patient and kind. They matched me with a apartment that suited my needs and budget!. Tenants are entered into raffles and I actually was selected for a neat gift. I feel valued and wish I would have made the choice sooner.
HORRIBLE SOMEONE RECENTLY GOT STABBED TO DEATH THE OFFICE DID NOT WANT TO COMMENT ABOUT IT! THEY ARE RUDE IN THE OFFICE AND WHEN YOU PAY YOUR RENT ONTIME THEY WILL STILL LEAVE YOU AS A RESIDENT NO NOTICE THEY ARE SHUTTING THE WATER IN YOUR BUILDING OFF THEY JUST DO IT!! YOUR TUB COULD BE CLOGGED WITH WATER THEY WILL TELL YOU ITS NOT AN EMERGENCY AND WILL TAKE 3-5 DAYS FOR SOMEONE TO COME FIX IT!! ITS NOT WORTH YOUR MONEY I PROMISE!!!! IT IS THE WORST PLACE TO LIVE!!!! ID RATHER LIVE IN NORTH WILMINGTON IN THE HOOD THEN HERE!!!
The customer service is horrible, when you need maintenance they don't come right away.
I have to say I lived in a couple apartments when relocating to Delaware , but after coming across castlebrook and meeting Samantha she made me feel super comfortable and at home .. very professional and great personality.
Never was contacted on weather or not I was approved for the spot, had to call twice before I got an answer and this was three weeks after I was told that I would be contacted within 5-10 business days. Then I was told that I would be getting info on what I needed for the move in. Again no call, no email, nothing. Finally I just gave up on the place and found somewhere else to do business and I got everything handled in less than a week. CastleBrook tell your employees to step it up with their communication skills for real..
I have a two bedroon one bathroom apartment it has a fitness center a pool and 24 hours maintance.

We are constantly making changes to improve Castlebrook and would love to hear from you on how we can do better. Please stop by the management office so we can we can make your residency with us more enjoyable.
From the first day i started looking for an apartment I felt a little over whelmed until I met the staff at castle Brook. They were very friendly and welcoming. I probably looked at the model a million times but Samantha was very patient and positive, which played a part in why I fell in love with my new place. I really feel at home and won't hesitate to call the office if I need anything because I know they will try their best.
I have recently moved into Castlebrook Apartments (1 month), and I can say that this place is a great complex for a new family. So far, upon moving in, I had a concern with my refrigerator making noise, but once I reported this concern on my Move-In Checklist, the management quickly replaced the refrigerator with a more current model. Another indicator of this being a great complex is that my fiancé lived here once before during her childhood, and her mom informed me that the place was great then. I also received a recommendation from my sister, stating that the Galman Group was a great management to trust in and deal with. Aside from the complex itself, the area is also a nice quiet area which is placed near a number of highways, including I-95 and Route 40, which both give access to all surrounding locations: this commuting to either Maryland or Philadelphia extremely easy, with little to no traffic. Another plus is its close distance to Delaware's Christiana Mall, which is a great mall with plenty stores for all demographics. In conclusion, I would definitely recommend this apartment complex.

Thank you for the kind review! We love hearing from our residents, and are delighted after just one month you enjoy calling Castlebrook a home. Be sure to check out our "Friday Treats" as a show of our resident appreciation!
My boyfriend and I have lived here for 1 year (Since May 2014). I give this rental property only 2 stars because of numerous reasons. To keep things simple and to the point, I will list pros and cons and reasons for each. Pros: -Nice and clean property. Quiet area. -Nice apartments, spacious rooms, big kitchens, balcony -Convenient. A lot of places are within walking distance. Grocery store (Food Lion), Wawa, Pizza Hut, Dollar Tree, Snap Fitness, Cleaners, Liquor store, Walgreens, Chinese restaurant/take out, etc. -Fitness Center -Outdoor Swimming Pool -Tennis Courts Cons: -Management team is horrible and sometimes unprofessional -Maintenance team could be more knowledgable and less lazy -No play area for children -Fitness center only has basic fitness equipment (treadmills, bicycle, hand weights) -Swimming pool is open during the summer and ONLY on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays from 11am-7pm. It is NOT open daily. I live on the top (3rd) floor. In the winter time, I experienced squirrels entering my apartment. Yes, squirrels. They would enter through the HVAC closet which is located in the kitchen. The very 1st time I called maintenance, they told me there was no way of figuring out how the squirrels got in there and for me to just call back if I see the squirrels again. They set a trap (with peanut butter in a cage) in the HVAC closet and it did catch the squirrel, but squirrels kept coming back on a daily basis. I had to deal with this issue for two months, even after making numerous maintenance calls. One day it was so bad that I had to call animal control because the maintenance man wasn't able to keep the squirrels away. Depending where your apartment is, your balcony may not serve any purpose to you. My apartment faces an area where there are a lot of trees. Whenever I do sit on the balcony, there are always a lot of spiders(daddy long legs) and bees out there. For that reason, I do not sit out there.
