Property Ratings at Catalina Gardens
I have lived here for about 6 months now and I am so happy I moved into Catalina Gardens. I am a student at University of Redlands; living so near to the campus is ideal for me. The apartment is also very spacious with large living room, kitchen (with plenty of storage), and a nice patio/ back yard for my son to play in. We have also loved being able to walk to the playground in Sylvan Park! Also, the manager and maintenance people have been easy to work with. I like the small community and personable feel I get from the people who work here, as I know the grounds keeper and maintenance man by name and they are always friendly. It has been so easy communicating with the apartment manager, she is pleasant to see around the building and I love being able to send her a text for a maintenance request, knowing I will get a prompt response; she has accompanied the maintenance man for a repair once and she is a very nice person. I have had the maintenance man fix a few minor things in my apartment and he was quick, clean, and even asked if he should remove his shoes at the door. Overall, I feel safe living in this community, the grounds are kept beautiful like a park setting, and the one story apartments are quiet and convenient.
This apartment is convenient, right off the freeway, close to the university and has quick access to shopping and local eateries. The price you're paying for rent and for the space you're getting, it's pretty good...trust me, I've looked into it. The common areas are well maintained; the pool is always sparkling clean and the landscaping is well manicured. There is onsite shared laundry room. I originally posted a review of the apartments 6 months after I moved in. I've now lived here 2 and a half years and I would like to post an updated review based on current living situations. The following things you should know: Landlord/owner, mainetenance crew remain the same. New on site manager hired (1 and a half years). many new turnover for residents in the last 2 years since the old manager left. Since the original apartment manager moved away, I have noticed a dramatic decline in the over environment of the complex. First off, there is much more noise at all times of the day, more random people moving through and around the complex...visiting and what not. There seems to be more families with younger children moving in, sometimes it seems as though too many people are living in one apartment. Next, responses to maintenance requests have not been as prompt as previous, but when the requests are received and acknowledged, they are quick in fixing whatever request you have. The fix ups are usually quick and dirty, patches to fix the immediate problem, but no real though is given to the long term problems (ie: faucet is dripping, tighten faucet to get it to stop dripping, however, it is now so tight, you can barely turn on the water...) They used to run background checks on potential residents, however based on the recent influx of new residents the past 2 years, and from my personal bias, I would like to suggest that they've been quite lenient with this policy. Some residents are even subletting their apartment...I'm not feeling as safe as I used to. There was a no dog policy I don't know if they're still upholding that because I've seen tenants "walk" their dogs around the complex. The gated parking lot is a plus, however, people are always leaving the gate unlocked, opened and so the safety factor is lost. There are at least 3 or 4 broken down cars that haven't been driven parked in the parking lot and has made a nice home for all the black widows making their nests inside...which you can visibly see and identify these cars.
