Long thought of as a suburb of Burlington, South Burlington has been making strides in developing its own image. Finding an apartment here will land you in the graces of a thriving community.
The schools here are some of the best – and there’s more than enough opportunities for shopping, dining, and outdoor recreation. Nestled on the shores of Lake Champlain, South Burlington offers the convenience of city life and small-town charm.
Vermont’s largest mall, University Mall, is located here. The shopping destination offers shoppers a variety of retail stores, plus a movie theater and casual dining. Dorset Street is another shopping district, hosting an array of shops like boutiques and specialty stores.
Red Rocks Park is located on the shores of the lake, covering 100 wooded acres that are open year-round for visitors to hike, snowshoe, picnic, whatever. You’ll see a great sunset there, and afterward, you can head down to Magic Hat Brewing Company for locally made libations.

Property Ratings at Catamount Ridge
It's very loud, especially on the lower floors. I can hear my downstairs neighbor screaming/hammering something/partying late at night on a weekday. One night I thought she was being attacked the yelling was so loud and called the police since management doesn't do anything. There's dog poop everywhere because management can't be bothered to put a trash can anywhere near the entrances to the buildings and the bag dispensers. By the side entrances there's piles of dog poop bags. People let their dogs bark all day and management doesn't do anything. It's unfortunate because it has the potential to be better with a few easy fixes. Go live anywhere else, you'll probably get better value for your money.
It's like living in a dorm! If you don't like listening to their music at 2 in the morning, get ear plugs... a white noise machine, and used to sleeping with a pillow over your head. Loud neighbors. You'll always know who's sleeping with who and who cheated on who! Kinda like being stuck in a bad soap opera. And maybe that baby isn't his. Barking dogs (and the crap they leave behind, literally). Only supposed to have 2 per, but what the heck, let's watch other peoples dogs... Or how about just letting yours bark nonstop and getting others in the area going while you're at it. Forget trying to get the management to do anything. They have been using Covid as an excuse not to leave their office bubbles.
Management is unresponsive! Building has issues! Poor quality of materials used & poor construction. Hall & neighbor noise especially near entry doors. Entry doors are a DANGER to small animals & children; easily crush one as they close fast and hard. Pet waste is not taken care of! Trash, specifically broken glass, in both above & below ground parking. Insufficient storage space, especially for items like winter tires!
