Newark’s dominant landmark and cultural hub is undeniably the University of Delaware campus, where the student body nearly matches the city’s population of permanent residents. Accordingly, many of the community’s resources are tailor-made for the collegiate crowd: an eclectic mix of restaurants and nightlife venues lines Main Street on the north side of campus, and affordable apartments are easy to find anywhere in town.
Despite the fact that it is primarily a college town, Newark maintains a diverse population with rental options available to suit any lifestyle. The sprawling nature preserves that border the northern end of the city provide gorgeous settings for hiking, camping, canoeing, and simply enjoying the great outdoors. Just thirty minutes from Wilmington, Newark also makes an excellent home base for commuters.

Property Ratings at Cavalier Country Club Apartments
In conclusion, while this may have once been a desirable place to live, I can no longer recommend it to others in good conscience. The decline in service and maintenance, coupled with the lack of responsiveness from management, has significantly diminished the quality of life for residents. It’s a disappointing turn of events, and I hope to see improvements in the future.
Good for about a year any longer and the yearly rent increases make it unaffordable. what you get for your money is not worth it
In early February I called 13 apartment complex’s in Newark,De. Cavalier Country Club Apartments was the only complex that I actually talked to a real person and not a answering machine. The staff are very professional and quick to respond to any questions you may have.and clearly articulating their procedures. The other complex’s are just getting back to me 8 weeks later. I’m sticking with Cavalier because they stuck with me. Thanks Alexis
i have been here literally ONE month & there has been so many roaches running around here. a pretty bad leak near the patio door and my kitchen that was was “fixed” won’t turn on. definitely don’t recommend. all they do is patch work. nothing else. so pissed i can’t move yet. ZERO STARS
Every summer roaches come to your apartments, from your bed to your kitchen cabinets. They are on you while you sleep literally happens to me. Very bad conditions. Unless you can’t afford to go anywhere else don’t go to these apartments.
Worst , filthy, dirtiest apartment i have ever lived in. The quality is very poor... infested with roaches and rats. Management is equally bad. Don't even think of moving here...
Do not move into these apartments! They claim to be luxury apartments but they are not one bit. I’ve been living here with my family for years and it is not worth it. These apartments have rats, cockroaches, and we have had various leaks in both our bathrooms and bedrooms. The only reason we’ve been residents at these apartments for years is because they’ve promised to solve everything and have also switched us to a different apartment stating they didn’t have rats. However, the kitchen is FULL with rats and cockroaches. Don’t move in here because it is like a zoo!!! The lady’s in the office including the manager give the worst service and not to mention they have the worst attitude!!! They are not helpful at all. It’s sad because me and my family will have to be moving out. They will not be receiving any more of our money for rent. I warn you don’t move into these apartments!!
Wonderful place to live with plenty of places to shop and eat close by at the mall or towards r13. Short distance from the hospital. Also close to 95 which was a huge bonus. There is a playground and pool for the kids to enjoy. The property has plenty of space for the kids to run around and play. The office staff was helpful and quick to respond to issues. Never had any issues with noisy neighbors. Overall this was a great apartment would live here again.
First off, the apartment building is infested with cockroaches. We’ve done pest control, bait traps, and poison. We’ve spent lots of our own money to fix the problem, which I am sure they will never reimburse us. Less then 30days in our unit and these roaches are on EVERYTHING, they are even crawling on the building exterior (as witnessed by my spouse and several guests). Maintenance is pretty good, time wise. But the repairs have been too often and too soon for a “newly renovated” apt. We’ve had to call multiple times for the same issues.
Stay as far away from these apartments as you possibly can. Where do I start? They don't have enough parking spaces for everyone, and when you call to complain they do absolutely nothing. The apartment complexes smell like marijuana all the time, yet they do nothing. Oh, and when they damage your personal property, they again do nothing. They damaged my welcome mat with paint because their ceilings collapsed in the hallway. The place is falling apart. Avoid this apartment complex at all costs.
Noisy neighbors (at 1 in the morning), police seem to be in the neighborhood every week and when I told the office that stuff was disappearing off my porch the exact response I got was “well I guess they liked it better than you”. Final straw.
Not worth the already high price if I have to deal with vermin. Cleaning up a dead bat in my closet and not being able to sleep in my apartment for days is unacceptable. Moving out ASAP.
I was staying here for an Year on 13 Capano Drive, it was such a horrifying experience .... Cockroaches,Rats, Squirells all over .If you stay in first floor then you have to be animal loving cause thats what you will get, including snakes ... On top of it when my lease went over, they charged me 2 months of rent and my deposit too was not returned and i had to file a dispute .... In short, if you want to live around in the worst of communities around the worst of people, then please choose Cavaliers Disaster Club ...
I highly recommend this apartment. Its clean, safe, close to christiana mall. Its an amazing community with friendly neighbours. Maintenance team is very prompt and kind people. I lived here for almost 2 and half years and had no issues. Rats and roaches were there once in a while but maintenance team helped to solve the problem soon. I can sure call it my home and i will badly miss this apartment.
THIS IS PERHAPS THE WORST BUILDING AND MANAGEMENT, YOU GET CENTIPEDES, EARTHWORKS AND LEECHES COMING INTO THE LIVING ROOM BECAUSE OF IMPROPER INSULATION, this is the worst building ever. I WAS LIVING WITH A 2 YEAR OLD BABY AND PREGENENT WIFE, I CALLED THE MANAGEMENT ABOUT LIFE THREATENING SITUATION AND THEY SEEM TO BE TAKING NO ACTION AT ALL. DO NOT CHOOOSE THIS APARTMENT IF YOU NEED A PEACEFUL LIFE.
Roaches in the apartments. Terrible laundry facilities. Has had major problems with bed bugs in the past. There are way nicer places in Newark to live for about the same price. This place should only be a last resort. I don't recommend anyone live here.
This is by far the worst place I have ever lived. I have had to call pest control 3 times since I've been here (8 months so far) due to my neighbors for roaches and mice. The apartments is not worth the rent I am paying and I'm already planning my moving day for when my lease is up.
THE MODEL APARTMENTS MAKE YOU THINK YOUR MOVING INTO LUXURY IN ALL REALITY YOUR MOVING INTO A DUMP. THE APARTMENTS ARE HOT IN THE SUMMER CENTRAL AIR OVER HEATS EVERY COUPLE OF DAYS AND YOU HAVE TO SHUT IT DOWN TO COOL OFF BEFORE IT WORKS PROPERLY. IN THE WINTER YOU HAVE TO PUT PLASTIC ON THE WINDOWS BECAUSE ITS COLD AS EVER. THIS COMPLEX HAS A BUG PROBLEM AMONG OTHER THINGS TOO MUCH TO LIST. IF YOU CAN HELP IT DO NOT MOVE TO CAVALIER COUNTRY APARTMENTS YOU WILL REGRET IT
Cavalier country club apartments are very nice since they just started remodeling them. The thing I love about it is the location. 5 mins from Christiana mall and right off the 95. This community is perfect for commuters.
This place is so great to live in , besides the fact that I get bugs inside. But what apartment isn't going to. It's a nice place and I enjoy it and the people who work here are very friendly.
i've lived here for 8 years the neighborhood is friendly and well composed beside the few incidence of a couple teenagers attacking residence its a great living area.
I cannot express how much I hate this place. The ABSOLUTE WORST experience I have ever had. Mold, water damage, leaks, our carped flooded during a rainstorm, that all took over two months to get fixed correctly. AC is ancient and does not work. We were paying between 35-55 during the past couple of months and the electric bill suddenly jumped to 180. They are only compensating us for FIFTY DOLLARS. I wrote a bad review on their Facebook page, and ever since, the property manager has been quite rude every time I email her. Oh yeah, and you have to email her because the people in the office/maintenance workers DO NOT CARE about anything. I had to complain multiple times about the same issue. We also have a cat. We provided vaccination documents and a photo and were told we did not have to pay the pet deposit because the carpet in our unit is old. Now, the property manager has come back and said that she did not know we had a pet, and now we have to pay the deposit, after eight months of living here and thinking we did not need to pay it. DO NOT MOVE IN. IT'S A TRAP.
I've lived here in Cavalier for 3 years now. Just moved from one of the upgraded apartments to a smaller older (not upgraded, In January# apartment due to the price increases that they are ALWAYS INCREASING . Upon moving into this new apartment the screen door leading to the patio was not even connected, it was just leaned against the door. The appliances were probably older then my parents #I'm in my late 20's) closet doors are rusty and are very hard to open. not even 5 months of living in this apt we get a letter saying we have to vacate & move AGAIN because they are refurbishing our building. CAVALIER DID NOTHING TO ACCOMIDATE this inconvenience.. IF YOU HAVE NO CHOICE BUT CAVALIER GET UPGRADED
Lived here for several years with no problem. Roaches began infesting our building last fall. Now roaches are everywhere. Buildings have been sprayed several times, and has not gone away. Ready to get out of this place. Do not recommend!
They say pictures say a thousand words. Well, the pictures they place on the website are chosen for mild bait. You may be content at first, but soon after it turns to despair (this is not only my opinion but others in the complex as well). There are many reasons for this statement and it appears the other resident's prior reviews have been deleted (why?). I know no place is perfect, but do yourself and your family a favor and don't let yourself be fooled. You will most likely regret it and be stuck for the duration. Note - The location is the ONLY best feature (hospital, shopping, public transit, etc.)
I've lived in Cavalier for 2 years now. Its not the best apartments to call home but it has its moments. The apartments could be fixed up a bit better. Even living in an upgraded model there still could be some improvement. desperately in need of new sliding glass doors. The ones they have are as old as the buildings even in an "upgraded" apartment. The walls are thin as paper. living on the 3rd floor would be best to avoid noisy neighbors. Office staff could be friendlier. and the Model apartments they do have are incredibly misleading since we can't paint our walls. Silly rules like "blinds must be pulled down" are a bit extreme. and also the "curtains must be white". Had problems with carpet bugs, ants, and termites. also had a leak that didn't get fixed for a few months. With as much as I pay for rent, you'd think the apartments would be better built & the layout would be decent. Lease is up soon and trying to relocate immediately.
Roaches all over the place, the apartment is a million years old, office staff are too rude to talk to, no maintenance, noisy neighbors - what else do you need to stay away from this place?
