Hoover is a neighborhood in North Fresno, far enough from the city center for residents to enjoy a quieter and more suburban lifestyle while still being only 15 minutes away from the excitement of downtown. Fresno, California’s largest inland city, sits about 150 miles east of the Pacific coast and about 40 miles west of the majestic Sierra Nevada mountain range.
The ethnic diversity of Fresno gives it a depth of heritage and makes it a hub of culture and commerce. Fresno County holds a place as the nation’s agricultural capital, with billions of dollars in annual produce sales from crops such as almonds, grapes, cotton, nectarines and peaches. People continue to seek out Fresno neighborhoods such as Hoover for their blend of character, affordability and family friendliness.

Property Ratings at Cedar Commons
My wife and I lived at Cedar Common Complex for a year and a half since July 2021, and I start with the conclusion that I do not recommend this complex mainly due to its unsafe area and poor management. Initially, we moved into this complex because in July 2021, there were very few one-bedroom complexes available for our move. However, I wish we had paid a bit more and chosen a better complex. I had a $500 foldable bike that they cut the chain during the daytime and stole in front of our unit (see the image below.) They have some cameras around. But that is a joke! It is only active with motion and only saves maybe 2-3hrs a day. So they could not find whoever stole our bike, and management did not care about it, as if this was so common. If you wash clothes in their public washers, you have to stand by them. They steal clothes very frequently. You can not dump the trash in the trash can late at night. We have seen some homeless people sleeping in the trash can rooms. It can be scary at night to go to the trash can room. We sometimes leave food or unwanted stuff for them. Many addicted people are around the complex at nighttime, especially on weekends. There is a school and a parking area right behind this complex which makes this complex very unsafe. One night a drunk girl with all vomit around her was sleeping in front of our complex. This complex has four entrance gates, and almost always, one is broken. Therefore, it makes it easy for anyone to get into the complex. After many complaints, they added a security person to walk around the unit. But it was useless. Still, homeless and strangers are in the unit, especially on weekend nights. He is a lovely guy. But he is not always there, and as he told us, one person is not enough for such a large complex. The manager, Gina, only respects you when you move in. After that, she is a different person! They never address our issues. At our move-out, she charged us $300 for no reason. $90 painting, $100 for general cleaning, $80 for carpet cleaning, and $20 for drip pans. When we moved out, we made sure the unit was spotless. Be careful of this management. I wish someone had written these reviews before we moved in.
Vanessa was really sweet when we called and it was because of that we decided to pick cedar commons as our new home. Unfortunately by the time we moved in she was long gone. My first impression of cedar apartments was the two bedroom apartment did not really look that the video they have on display. It's so much smaller in person. We were told our apartment was sprayed for bugs.. and let me tell you when we were moving in we saw about 10 roaches. All through out our first night we would see them crawling up the walls of our rooms and kitchen area. They were everywhere. Im afraid to unpack. Our shower was placed incorrectly so our hot will be our cold and our cold would be our hot. We had to personally buy our own spray. Things aren't looking so bright and it's only been a night and a day here.
Vanessa has been a huge help while we were trying to find an apartment in Fresno. Out of all the 12 apartment complexes we called, Vanessa at Cedar Commons was the most friendly and most helpful. We really appreciate all the information she was able to give us. Vanessa was able to accommodate us to move in on a holiday weekend which we are so grateful for. Thank you so much for all your help and accommodations.
Enjoyed living here. Maintenance and office staff friendly, responsive, and professional. Utilities were very affordable. Pleasant community environment. Clean grounds and amenities. Definitely will recommend and would live here again.
Everyday here just gets better. I love all my friendly neighbors and staff all yhe way to maintenance is just welcoming. The sense of safety and security you get at Cedar Commons you wont find anywhere else in Fresno and its so clean. Thank you again Vanessa and Stephanie for making me feel so welcomed.
Just moved into cedar commons this week, so far it’s going really well and I love that there is security throughout the night. Makes me feel safer, and It’s a very clean apartment complex. The managers are very friendly as well! They made us feel at home. 5stars!
Problem with AC. Called office and they sent someone on Saturday. Great place to live.
My husband and I were looking for a place to live. Vanessa (manager) was very helpful. She answered all our questions immediately. The appartment complex is very clean. Very pleased. Would definitely recommend looking for your new home here.Thank you Vanessa for all the help.
I just moved in a month ago and so far enjoying it.. the whole complex is clean and well maintained.. the facilities are ok... the rent is reasonable and the maintenance guy Mark is always around when you needed him...it's a quiet place to live...Management is doing a great job.. Glad to be here! Martin
Looking for an apartment I noticed some bad reviews for Cedar Commons. But after actually talking to some tenants who have been here many years I was convinced the bad reviews were bogus. I moved in and found out for myself. Cedar Commons is a great apartment complex with concerned and responsible managers. Rebecca and Vanessa do expect rules to be observed in the best interest of residents. But they are nice and seem more than reasonable. Also I have been here a few months and have not seen any bugs of any kind. Thanks Rebecca and Vanessa, keep up the good work!
My friend moved in here a month ago and I have been visiting him frequently. I am very impressed with the speed in taking care of whatever problems my friend has had. The manager Rebecca and the assistant manager Vanessa were very nice in helping us. The grounds are very well kept up. The apartment is very spacious with nice size rooms. Overall a very nice place to live with all the amenities at your disposal.
Management is very rude and unprofessional (the manager does not have her real estate license and should not be the one going over the lease with anyone). It is not worth the time, effort, energy, and most importantly the money in even dealing with a place like this. My fiancé and I were asked to vacate over parking issues we were having even though we had tried to talk to the manager Rebecca and reason with her about it. We also tried talking to the manager’s supervisor, we emailed the corporate office, and went to the corporate office to try and get our issue resolved and nobody wanted to help us. They claim to care and love their residents, but they did not care enough to replace our carpet prior to us moving in or clean it properly upon us moving out. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE! THIS PLACE DOES NOT DESERVE ONE STAR IN MY OPINION!
You are assigned a stall for your parking but they will evict you if you actually use that stall for anything other than a four wheeled vehicle. Staff was rude and unwilling to work with the paying tenant. Definitely would not say this is a "fair establishment". They will change stated rules in the lease agreement and expect you to abide by their ILLEGAL LEASE CHANGES. If you want a fair peaceful place to reside I would look elsewhere and RUN from Cedar Commons. They are unfair illegal crooks out for a buck. DO NOT RENT HERE!! There are many apartment complexes that actually care about their tenants and go by the lease agreements instead of changing them on a whim. Cedar Commons seriously needs to be further investigated by proper authorities. STAY AWAY FROM CEDAR COMMONS!
