When you first see the heavily-wooded, emerald green landscape of Okemos, it may seem like an idyllic, peaceful community where you can escape your busy day and relax. And that's true -- only Okemos borders Michigan State University on its west side, with Hagadorn Road separating the two. With the university next door, students renting apartments in Okemos have fast access to campus, while college sports fans have fast access to Spartan Stadium, theater-goers can easily reach Wharton Center for the Performing Arts, and nature lovers can go hiking through Sanford Natural Area.
Okemos is very pedestrian- and bicycle-friendly, and many residents choose to bike or walk to school or work. And since it is next door to East Lansing and just minutes from the state capital of Lansing, most residents enjoy a commute of 15 minutes or less. MSU is one of the world's top research universities and was founded in 1855. The university covers 10,000 acres and enrolls about 50,000 students.

Property Ratings at Cedar Creek Apartments
They do not fix things a timely manner. They keep changing the rules etc. I’m currently moving and I will not advise anyone to move here, it’s not worth it.

We're sorry to hear about your experience and that we didn’t meet your expectations. We’re always working to improve and appreciate your feedback.
I live in cedar creek for some months now and I love it I don’t know anyone so I don’t have any problems , but the staff is so friendly and caring
I moved here at the end of february and have loved every minute! I have a one bedroom one bathroom apt on the first floor and I can literally see my car from my door. Everyone is super friendly and the apartment itself is really cute! They redid the floors and walls in mine right before I moved in, and it looks spectacular. I don’t have any issues with my neighbors being loud, and it’s a very safe place to be. I haven’t gotten to use the pool yet because of when I moved in, but I have gone to take a look and it seems very nice. Very excited to take a dive in the summer! You do have to pay for your electric and wifi yourself, but if you go through XFinity it’s pretty cheap. Also my electric bill was only $28 and I was definitely not that conservative with my power usage.
I’ve been living here for nearly ten years and have had such a positive experience here at Cedar Creek. Maintenance has been GREAT as well as the office staff. The rent here is very cheep for the area and it is very convenient for shopping etc.. I super appreciate the walks being shoveled and salted before leaving for work! Thank you “guys” for making it such a great experience to call home.
The location is perfect for a quick drive or bike to the mall, the units are clean and updated, and the grounds are always well maintained. It is a great, friendly community that I am glad to call home. The minor maintenance issues I've had have been resolved quickly, and the office staff is always friendly and eager to please! The only problem that I have living here is the neighbors "do not" pick up their dog poop!
I have lived at Cedar Creek Apartments since Feb of this year and the staff and management company have been amazing. Any time I have put in a work order they have completed it within 48 hours. The pool is gorgeous! laundry is convenient; and the workout facility is 24 hours. I will definitely be renewing the lease!

Thank you so much for that wonderful review! We appreciate your input and always strive to do our best. Thank you! Allyson Assistant Manager
Major complaint is that there were cockroaches when I moved in and I never got rid of them totally. Management is OK, but kept charging me extra for not having renters insurance when I did have it and had provided proof multiple times. Other than that its a nice quiet community, high asian population who were mostly nice. Good location. Rent went up more and more every year.

Be careful, when you move out, they will steal your deposit. They will find all kinds of reason to forfeit your deposit.

This is the worest place I have ever lived in my life. The ventilation system does not work at all. You will be able to smell what the people next door are having for dinner every night. They have an awful promblem with the Asian stink bugs. I killed around 200-300 in the 5 months I lived here. The apartments them self’s are extremely out of date and very run down on the inside. The hallways in the outside are stained and I can’t even remember the amount of times I have seen people just throw trash into the hallway. This place is awful do not move in here!!!

Thank you for taking time to leave a review. We value all feedback, both positive and negative, as it helps us to constantly improve the services we provide. I'm sorry to hear you did not enjoy your time here at our community. Our goal is to provide the most positive customer experience we can, I'm sorry you feel we fell short of that goal. We have been working diligently with a third-party company to address bug issues. We are happy to say this matter has been resolved and do not foresee any future issues. We follow a health policy, and If brought to our attention, we will notify any resident who fails to comply with the terms of the lease and will take appropriate action. Again, I'm sorry your experience did not meet your satisfaction and we wish you the best of luck in your new home. Thank you, Allyson Assistant Manager
The staff here is excellent. Maintenance is quick and the front desk staff is friendly (except for one of them, but she is the lone exception). Unfortunately, there are some issues. The apartment is cheap, which is awesome for recent grads. But there are some downsides: The appliances are VERY old. The stove is so old that the numbers are gone. We have to tilt our heads a certain angle in the light to see which stove burner we're on or what temperature the oven is. They're completely gone. The a/c is broken in our apartment. It has been since we got here and maintenance has come out 4 times so far and haven't fixed anything. They'll say they did, but when we blast it on the coolest it can go, our apartment will be 85 degrees on a 90 degree day. It's a problem when you have small pets. I think it's because it needs a new compressor and they don't want to spend the money to replace it. (But I'm not an a/c expert. I'm just guessing). Ventilation is bad. Our neighbors downstairs are smokers, and it triggered my asthma something terrible for the first few months. Our entire apartment smelled like smoke. Staff was SUPER helpful and came out multiple times to seal everything, and now the only area that smells like smoke is under the kitchen sink. Which brings me to the cabinets - they're old. They're gross. They feel like they have food stuck on them from 20 years ago. The kitchen is TINY, and we barely have room to cook any food. I constantly feel claustrophobic. The apartment itself is very small. There isn't enough storage space, and the sink in the bathroom has no room to put toothbrushes or eye glasses. Pretty much, if you're a first time renter, you need to look at the exact apartment you're getting BEFORE you sign the lease. I signed it after, and I honestly would have dropped the apartment if I had seen it first. There were dead bugs in the bathroom, mold in the bathroom, smell was terrible, carpets were gross. It's an old apartment, and it showed. You get what you pay for at Cedar Creek. They're hiking the rent by $100 next year for us (because we aren't extending our rent by 12 months), and we're over it. We're going to move as soon as the lease is done, but it has nothing to do with the staff. Just the appliances and size.

There are excellent location, neighborhood, office staff, maintenance service and quality of amenities. But there is a little noise.
upon moving in 3 years ago there was a lot of issues on property. since that time Christy, property manager, has done a great job cleaning up the community. it is a family friendly, multicultural community. my child attends Okemos Public Montessori School located in walking distance from Cedar Creek. i find the rent to be a great value. the pool is clean. there are 5-7 playgrounds in the area for kids to play. & my favorite is the beautiful wooded area & creek that runs behind the complex. it is very quiet here. we are only 2 short miles from I-96. and, Cedar Creek Apartments are walking distance of Meridian Mall & Miejer. there are great restaurants that surround us. if you need a place to live i highly recommend Cedar Creek Apartments.
