On the eastern bank of the Hudson River lies the suburb of Troy, New York. With a population of almost 50,000, Troy is an affordable city with great rental opportunities. Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Russel Sage College are two great universities in Troy.
Golfing is common in Troy with the a 247-acre public course with 18-holes, an ice rink, tennis courts, and a nature trail that surrounds Bradley Lake. Frear Park Municipal Golf Course is a great place for the family, located on Lavin Court. Closer to Hudson River on River Street, there are notable bars and restaurants such as Brown’s Brewing, classic American grub, and Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, southern-style meats and draft brews in a retro setting.
After you become a resident of Troy, travel over to the river and get a drink at Lucas Confectionery, an industrial-chic wine bar, and visit Riverfront Park to enjoy the picturesque views of Hudson River.

Property Ratings at Cedar Park Apartments
Good aspects: 1. Great location if you are working at RPI; 2. Close to a golf course, which is a great place to go for a walk all year around. Bad aspects: 1. Noise! The buildings are old and walls are thin. You can hear your neighbors clearly if they are talking in the room right above or beneath you. The wood floors are broken and squeaky. Avoid if you want a relatively quiet place to stay. 2. Maintenance staff are lazy. A doorknob was broken not long after I moved in but it was not repaired during my entire stay. The parking area is not clear.
You DO NOT want to live here. I had a year lease and the experience was a disaster to say the least. In those 12 months: -I had three packages stolen -Someone went through my car looking to steal things on two separate occasions -Tenants smoking marijuana in my non-smoking building- including in closed spaces like the mail room and laundry room. -Neighbors had domestic disputes every other day and actually broke the door frame to their apartment. -The parking lot is littered with garbage including used face masks, used condoms, and whatever fast food garbage my neighbors had that day. -Neighbors would keep us up at all hours of the night screaming their conversations and playing instruments- this continued until they moved out even though we had complained over a dozen times. -A fly infestation that I was told there was no solution to and should buy sticky paper. All of our complaints were met with wishy-washy emails and zero changes. An email would get sent out to the building residents requesting nicely that they change their behaviors. That did absolutely nothing and helped no one. After all of this, we were not allowed out of our lease. We stuck it out until the last month and were informed we would need to have carpets professionally cleaned before we left. Our apartment was different than the others and only had 5x5 ft of carpet in a spare bedroom that we rarely used. We were told we would need to have it professionally cleaned (and have a receipt) or we would be charged $125 dollars. I’ve lived in several apartments (a LOT nicer than this dump) and have never had to have carpets professionally cleaned. Spare yourself the frustration and misery- choose somewhere else to live.
lived in this apartment for almost 2 years, during the mean time I caught at least 20 mouse. I had reported it to office but they just can't fix the problem, what they gonna do is placing some mice pad. very bad living experience.
I've lived here for around 3 years. It's a land of flooding, backed up toilets, sinks. They NEVER change the carpets, no matter what the state of them is you are stuck. The walls are full of mold from constant plumbing problems. Expect the sewage to back up every so often into your carpets(it's your problem). They don't paint ever either and everything is done as cheaply as possible. New windows are a joke. Your heating is electric. Winter bills will be astronomical since the windows are garbage, also expect flies as they have built-in holes. The apartments are so pretty but it's purely on the outside if you are stuck on the ground floors. If you are next to laundry rooms (in every building) expect horrible smell that never goes away(in the walls from frequent floods). Go somewhere else.
We have lived in the Cedar Park Apartments in Troy for one year now and can honestly say it's been a great experience. The staff are friendly and helpful and the leasing manager (Melissa) was great helping us get the lease set up originally. They have very flexible leasing options and do a great job maintaining the property, especially the snow in the winter. We have only had one maintenance issue (a leak in our kitchen) and they took care of it as quickly as they could. I would definitely recommend this apartment complex to anyone looking to rent in a nice, quiet area in Troy, NY.
Really pleasently surprised when the oven stopped working and the next day they replaced it with a new one. The staff is curteous and professional. I would recommend this apartment group. The area is quiet and safe.
