I arranged an in-person tour of a unit. When I arrived, I was told there were none to view. After meeting with the manager & asking many questions, I was told I needed a co-signer or guarantor even though I had a sizeable checking account balance (which I showed the paperwork). Then was told I could pay for a 1-year lease in advance ($12,000). When I questioned this, I was told it was with the Fair Housing Act. I walked the property (which I had lived at 20 years ago). The buildings had not been maintained, there were loose wires by the A/C units, standing water, and rusted handrails. Very disappointed in the entire interview process.
I’ve lived here for almost a year and please If you do move .. try to move the furthest from the car wash .. I don’t know whose genius idea was to put a loud car wash next to apartments but it gets so loud my apartment shakes .. Nice apartment but trash also comes from the car wash and maintenance takes their time picking it up .. experience 5/10
There was a sewer gas leak the entire year we lived there, and we didnt know until the third professional mold inspector found the uncapped drain in the laundry room!! My family and I had to evacuate last November from symptoms that mimicked that of toxic mold. We all had symptoms, like burning eyes, irritated throat, hacking, headaches, nautious, lethargic. I was becoming very ill and could hardly function with shortness of breathe, confusion, very tired, dizzy and I believed to be near death before the second time we evacuated. When I reported that i thought there was toxic mold in our unit to the office, they came by and did three home kit mold tests. After that we were treated so horrible, like we had done something wrong. I told the manager that there was something in our unit making me ill, and instead of looking further into the problem they sued us for rent due. We had not paid our rent for two months because we were using our rent money to pay for hotel rooms. We were homeless and the cedars knew this, but offered no help to figure out what was causing these symptoms and illness. Finally after 2 negative mold tests, we had one more by a different company. During the third test,The inspector asked if we smelled anything like sewage in our townhome during the time we lived there. He found that the drain in the laundry room that went to the sewer was uncapped! This was also the case in the garage where i had my art studio set up and spent many hours in there a foot away from drain with sewer gas leaking. This is why I was so sick compared to the rest of my family! I reported the exposed drain to Ashley, the property coordinator, and told her how sick i was. She sent maintenance over who did NOTHING to fix the leak and still left them both exposed leaking sewer gas. We were needing to pack, my husband had to put saran wrap over the drains so we could. We tried to get everything out in time but we couldnt. They made us leave the property last Thursday without our things. Then they took our things and threw it all into a huge pile on the curb damaging almost everything we had. This situation was horrible and we were treated badly by the cedars. The maintenance worker was even laughing and taunting us as we got thrown out by the sheriff. This experience has left me with permanent health problems and an eviction on my credit and damaged property. I have never been treated so horrible. I wouldnt recommend my worst enemy live on this property!
They do their best to wring every penny out of you that they can. They charge you fees and then charge you more fees for charging you fees. They say they aren't going to charge you a fee and then do it anyway and refuse to do anything about it. Also, a tenant and her dog were shot to death here a few weeks ago and they haven't even acknowledged it or attempted to help their tenants feel safer. They do not care about you, only your money.
Staff are awful to deal with. They don’t return calls, they are rude and they will throw fees and fines your way just to do it. The pool was never open the years I lived there. Air conditioner never works and made our bills so expensive.

Cedar Ridge Apartments are a rip off. They only care about getting you to sign a lease then you are screwed. We have had many problems with no parking and people moving in without permission with others. The parking has become so bad they block public sidewalks, block the side streets which are private into the areas which has caused trash service to be interurpted because the truck can't get into the streets. This has been addressed with the office managment several times, they say we are addressing it, but as always it keeps happening everynight. Managment does not work at night and will not come here at night and address the issues. It has become so bad we have people living here that have not had background checks, construction workers rotating out of a townhome and using it as business storage, this is residentual not commercial property. Company vehicles people bring home take up a lot of parking also. TO PUT IT PLAIN AND SIMPLE MANAGMENT DOES NOT CARE THEY JUST WANT THEIR MONEY. IF THERE WAS AN EMERGENCY IN SOME AREAS WE WOULD BE SCREWED, AMBULANCES AND FIRE TRUCKS COULD NOT GET THROUGH. The cops wont even patrol here. And drugs are problem, they wont tell ya that though, had several raids and arrest here. They say they are not responsible for our safety, or anything else for that matter check the lease. Be late on rent pay outrages penalties, First Pacific is an Asian company that wants money with very little returned back to the property so maintance request are a band aid fix. And they try to fiqure a way to blame you so you have to pay for things going wrong, and dont expect your deposit when you move, plan on paying even more than that. They have a list of everything they ding you for and how much, there is no reserve for normal wear and tear as in some places. They charge you for dust bunnies left behind on everything. In other words if you want your deposit back, hire a profesional cleaning crew after you hire painters and replace the carpets and they will still find a reason to keep your money.

We do address work order requests in a very timely manner and we would only charge for something that was damaged or broken outside of normal wear. You do have the option of scheduling an appointment to be home during any repairs, however, there are times where we have to enter into an apartment for an inspection or an emergency which in that case we do give plenty of notice of the date and time frame so you can be home if you wish. We work very hard to provide the very best customer service and experience for all of our residents and invite you into the office to discuss any concerns that you have so that we may have the opportunity to resolve them for you.

The apartments are okay, just outdated and old. The management and office staff is pretty bad. Don't have high expectations if you live here. Maintenance tends to be on time, but will do a shoddy job. If you have questions or need anything from the office, they won't help you. There are nicer places to live in Independence. The rent might be higher, but it is worth it.

There slogan is "home at the cedars". This couldn't be more true. Its affordable and spacious. Safe and clean. The staff is friendly and always ready to help. One of the best apartments around hands down. Im happy to call the cedars home.
The price of rent a month is great for the space you get. The complex is always quiet and issue free. The only reason that I did not give it five stars is because you have to pay a monthly fee to use the pool, or laundry area.
Great place for the money. Moving soon to City Homes at Fall Creek in Blue Springs for more space and in apartment laundry.
