Property Ratings at Cedars at Medford
I've been a resident for 2+ years, and Cedars is an exceptional place to live. The apartment walls allow so little noise. The maintenance staff is 24/7 on site and incredibly responsive. The units have great character and are visually appealing, especially when you consider the age of the building. I'd recommend this place to any small family or single person.
Best priced apartments in the area, and a very responsive Maintenance Department. I have not had many instances when I needed assistance, but when I had an issue they responded very quickly to get resolved. It is a nice neighborhood and the neighbors are nice as well.
I'll start with the good. The apartments are large and fairly reasonably priced. There are maintenance men living on site and the management is very responsive, which is a good thing since I've had nonstop problems since moving in. First it was the bug infestation and lizards getting in due to gaps in doors. Get used to hearing what's going on upstairs. There was the urine leaking through the bathroom ceiling from upstairs. There was the gas leak. There was the inch of water that came in during a storm, from the unsealed sliding doors and complete lack of proper water runoff. Meanwhile, my immediate neighbor had no water at all. I give them credit that after I threatened to sue, they offered to pay for a hotel and quickly fixed the apartment. I'm told less demanding tenants who were flooded were less lucky. If I could find something reasonable that's worth the trouble of taking time off work and the expense of moving I'd get out asap.
I moved in last September and really enjoy living here. It's pretty quiet and I always feel safe walking my dog at night. Sometimes it takes while for them to cut the grass or remove the snow but the staff and management is really helpful and responds fairly quickly. The only thing I would change is the fact there's no dog park! Probably 80% of the people that live here own a dog. The closest park is Freedom Park (which I LOVE) but I cannot take my little dog there. If only the pool area would be open all year long or a fenced in area near the main office that would be perfect! Other than that I've really enjoyed it here and the neighbors are always friendly. I do agree with the parking. It could be a hassle sometimes, especially if there's more than 1 person living in your apartment since you only have 1 dedicated spot. I definitely recommend!
My husband and I just moved into Cedars. We love it! It is reasonably priced for all of the space we are getting and the floor plan is nice and spacious. We absolutely love our balcony and the neighborhood is nice and quiet. We are so happy to call this our home!
I constantly leave my balcony and close doors/windows because of chain smokers on patios/balconies near mine. And the insulation is so bad that the smoke seeps through the slider when it's closed. My cat died of LUNG CANCER because of the chain smoker that lived next to me. My cat liked to sleep in front of the slider; little did I know she was growing a tumor. This, after I tried to seal up all the areas the smoke comes in. I expect my own cancer diagnosis any day now. This is also the reason I never use the "club house" (which is by reservation and for a fee; it's not a place for residents to convene) -- it's attached to the main office, which reeks of smoke. Let's talk about noise pollution. Previous reviewers are right; you can't hear much road noise. What you do hear is the rude neighbors who insist on talking at the top of their lungs to each other or on speaker phone when they're outside. And the ones who, inexplicably, have dogs only to constantly yell at them to lay down or shut up. And the ones who think their yappy dogs are so cute that neighbors won't mind the cacophony as the dog yaps at everything that goes by while it's on the patio/balcony unattended. Then there are those who have no idea someone lives on the other side of the wall and insist on blasting their surround sound so loudly their neighbors can hear it in their bedroom. Parking is a dream. I love constantly having to avoid hitting the moron who keeps parking in a spot that's not really a spot (and yet, management does nothing). I also love all the dings on the side of my car from the woman who repeatedly hits my car with her car door (I have witnessed her doing it). The parking lot is routinely used as a park-and-ride by people who don't live here, so I pay to maintain parking that I can't use because non-paying strangers are using it. Thanks for that too, management. The insulation. Yup, it's great that the units are concrete. This means your heat is constantly running in winter because the seals on the windows and doors are so bad that the concrete floor underneath the (extremely cheap) carpet keeps the entire place like an icebox. All winter. It's great, especially when it's windy. Management stinks. Two thirds of the maintenance staff are routinely rude. And if you're a long-term resident, don't expect the same upgrades that other units get. Not allowed to have the work done if you live in the unit. The place may look welcoming in the pix. In reality, it's anything but.
This apartment complex is truly a one of a kind living atmosphere. It is off a major highway yet hidden in the wooded area far enough away that you don't hear the cars and trucks, and there is no foot traffic or drive thrus. The apartments are spacious with an open floor plan, fireplace and patio/balcony. They have full sized washer and dryers. The closets are spacious in the bedrooms and there is plenty of storage area in the washroom. I lived on the second floor and there were no problems with bugs or critters. My heat and air bills were cheap and I was generous with the use. The maintenance crew are friendly, professional and do a great job- they respond to your needs timely. The complex is quiet, the neighbors are friendly and there is hardly ever any noise at night. They have a pool which is kept nice and you can walk to acme in a pinch. All in all it is a wonderful place to live, I only moved because of job relocation. If I had it my way I would have lived there for a long time. You can't beat the price for what you get in this area.
Been living here for 4 years now. Walking distance to shopping center and short drive to freedom park. Definitely the best bang for your buck in this area. The rooms are large and the neighborhood is pet friendly. The cement ceilings mean you can barely hear your top/bottom neighbor. The windows are single pane so they don't hold much heat, but the fireplace is nice in the winter. Before I moved in, they replaced the carpet and bathroom. Over the years, they have made various improvements to the development and it seems to just keep getting better.
I ended up in the perfect unit - corner, first floor, two-bed, two-bath. The concrete construction keeps the apartment cool and quiet. I love the grassy areas, the patio (and permissible grill), and easy access to shopping (Acme, liquor store, sushi) and running routes. It's also super close to the library and Freedom Park. The staff is friendly and helpful, and my maintenance requests have always gotten fulfilled within a day. Snow removal is slow, and some of the neighbors don't clean up after their dogs. The windows are also drafty in the winter. And the pool is not free ($35/summer). But overall the neighbors are nice and my dog loves the area.
The Cedars is a quiet place located close to all major highways and the NJ Turnpike. Nestled in the trees in Medford the outside world seems to fade away. You don't even hear the traffic even though we are located on route 70 a major road. The layout of the units are spacious. Nice sized living room ,dining room with fireplace open to both rooms. The long hallway separates the bedrooms making it feel large and there is room to spread out. Tiled kitchen and bathrooms as well as hardwood floors in the two bedroom apartments, The pool is larger than most apartment complexes offer, there is also a gym to workout. The people who live here take pride in their patios, its clean and quiet. I like living here as the people Who manage and maintain the complex work hard to make it as nice as if is, they live here too so it's home to them as well. Lastly affordability is key , it's very affordable. I give it an A plus!!
