Newark’s dominant landmark and cultural hub is undeniably the University of Delaware campus, where the student body nearly matches the city’s population of permanent residents. Accordingly, many of the community’s resources are tailor-made for the collegiate crowd: an eclectic mix of restaurants and nightlife venues lines Main Street on the north side of campus, and affordable apartments are easy to find anywhere in town.
Despite the fact that it is primarily a college town, Newark maintains a diverse population with rental options available to suit any lifestyle. The sprawling nature preserves that border the northern end of the city provide gorgeous settings for hiking, camping, canoeing, and simply enjoying the great outdoors. Just thirty minutes from Wilmington, Newark also makes an excellent home base for commuters.

Property Ratings at Cedarwood Apartments
I am so glad that I was able to move in here at Cedarwood. I love my apartment and the space is just right for one person. Danielle is the best she is on top of her game. I have only been living here for a month and she has already fixed anything that that was wrong during moving in. With one call the Maintenance guy was on his way to fix my tub. I love it here and I look forward to the rest of my time here. Great place to live if you are moving out for the first time. Just enough space.
Anytime I had a problem it was fixed within a week. If there were any questions I had there was always someone available and willing to answer them. Have nothing but great things to say about the staff and how they care for their tenants.
Excellent community to live in. Danielle is superb, she gets things done, she keeps her word. Its quiet here and though older, maintained very well. Lots of space for the money!
I lived in Cedarwood Apartments for 2 years and my experience there has been very pleasant. Danielle and the rest of the office staff are very nice and attentive, maintenance as well was always prompt with any issues. Cedarwood itself is a smaller community which was usually very quiet, very few disturbances over my time there. The apartment living space itself feels rather large with a nice open floor plan, though the kitchen is on the smaller side. I did alot of research before moving in here and I feel that Cedarwood is probably one of the best places to live in the area within this rent range.
As a resident of Cedarwood Apartments, I cannot speak highly enough of Danielle, our property manager and Marek, our maintenance man extraordinaire! When I first was looking at apartments in Delaware, I knew I'd found my home in Cedarwood the moment I met Danielle. She is personable, honest, down to earth, professional, and a joy to talk to. She was able to answer every question that came her way (and as someone relocating, trust me, there were many!) She runs raffles which residents may enter with an on-time rent payment, and she posts announcements, crossword puzzles, and word searches on residents' doors each month. If there is ever a concern, she has an open door policy for residents, and encourages open communication. She truly has an interest in knowing her residents as people. If there is a maintenance request, Danielle communicates immediately with Marek, who always comes out right away. He is a gem. He is able to fix literally EVERYTHING quickly and effectively. More specifically, living in an apartment complex with many residents during the COVID-19 pandemic is stressful. Danielle has made it abundantly clear that the health and safety of her residents is her top priority. In no time at all, she put a plan into place to reduce the risk of virus spread in our community, and she allows that plan to be fluid as the pandemic evolves. Marek was sanitizing the playground area each day to ensure a safe place for the community's many children, before they ultimately made the wise decision to temporarily close the playground. Twice a day, Marek has been disinfecting door knobs, laundry facilities, entryways, mailboxes, dog bag stations, etc. in an effort to keep everyone safe. This is all to say, Cedarwood is a great place to live. Especially in times that are uncertain, it is comforting to know that Danielle is at the helm. Big thanks to Danielle and Marek both for making my home a safe place to be.
I am a current resident, and have been living at Cedarwood forabout a year and a half now. The rent is super affordable compared to other apartment in the area, and the community is very safe. Its located right off 95 and everything I need is right around the corner. The property manager, Danielle is very friendly and always there to help, and anytime I had a request, maintenence came the same or next day to assist. Laundry rooms are in each building so I don't have to drive to the laundry mat. Heat is included so I don't have to worry about another bill during the winter. Plenty of parking spaces as well. Overall, I'm having a great experience living at Cedarwood and plan to stay until I buy my first home!

I lived at cedarwood for six months and only left due to medical conditions. The staff is great, Danielle and Marc both are fantastic. If I had any issues, Danielle was always on top of it and made sure it was taken care of. She is the reason why I decided to live there. The commute to work was great as I was able to come home in my lunch breaks and walk my dogs.
I currently live at the Cedarwood Apartments. The location is great and the one bedroom apartment I live in is extremely comfortable. The entire complex is very well maintained. The management, specifically Danielle, is extremely professional as well as maintains the property with the most excellent of efficiency. The maintenance professional Mark as well maintains the property superbly. My experience here has been very positive and I would recommend the property to anyone looking for a peaceful and well managed living environment in the area of Newark Delaware. I cannot say enough about how positive the experience has been here.
We took a 3 months term , very lucky that our apt. was faced the swimming pool, on the second floor. We enjoyed our 3 months there. People were friendly, once our car broke down, they helped us regardless that they did not know us at all. We hardly heard any noise, the place were taken care well. The manager - Barbara was very professional and honest, she would go through every detail with you, make sure you were comfortable and enjoyed living there. If any thing needed to repair, they acted very quickly. The maintenance guy, Mark, was very nice and did his job well. The location is near to every where. We fully recommend this place for rental , no matter long term or short term.
my boyfriend and I have been here for 11 months and we love it here. It can be hard to request for new carpet or a repaint(or so i have heard from the neighbors). However the maintenance is fast and does an amazing job! If you move in all i suggest is that you ask for an updated apartment!
This is a perfect place for first time renters on a budget fresh out of school. It is a very private and intimate little neighborhood with little noise complaints and problems with management. The only issues here are that it is very old so the heating and air conditioning weren't so effective. I would recommend this place to plenty of my colleagues and friends.
This is a really great place to live. The property manager is very polite and friendly. The community area and pool are kept extremely clean and the maintenance men come out the same day yoy call.
I love living here the rent is reasonable, the community area and pool is kept clean and up to date. There is minimumal noise and everyone who lives here is very friendly. Maintenance comes the same day you call and the property manager is very empathetic and understanding.
