An inner-ring suburb of Cleveland, Lakewood bears the nickname "City of Beautiful Homes." Urban amenities and a suburban atmosphere coexist in Lakewood, resulting in a comfortable, exciting place to live.

Property Ratings at Center North
yeah like the title says, the heater and ac constantly break down and when it does it almost always takes at least 3 or 4 days for them to finally fix it. even when the hvac is working the temperature varies wildly in your apartment and the thermostat is seemingly for decoration only. in the summer my apartment gets up to like 76 during the day then dips down to 64 overnight. in the winter it stays around 65. overall the apartments and the building itself is nice but the hvac issues get real old real quick.
Air conditioning is useless. Its 82 degrees and humid enough to make my chairs and tables sticky as I write this. The thermostat is for show. Its central air so you have no real control. Management does not care, nor will they abide by typical and ethical business processes. A friend moved out after hating it here, never got their deposit back. Was told it was lost in the mail, they'd have to pay a fee to have it resent, and they should ask the post office to find it. Fire department has to enforce the regular maintenance if their elevators. They're out of service regularly and for long periods. They were all out of service at the same time a period over a month. There are 15 floors in this building. Appliances are ineffective. Dryer takes at least 3 hours worth of cycles to dry clothes. Dishwasher leaves things dirty. Shower water runs cold quickly (even with a whole heater in the unit). Walls are thin. You'll hear everything and have no privacy. And they raised rent.
I’m not seeing luxury value after two years. The construction is cheap, expect to hear your neighbors loud and clear. You can’t control the temp in your unit- don’t be fooled by the digital thermostats. All you can do it open and close hot/cold vents (if you have a ladder). Can’t open windows. The dryer is ventless, meaning it doesn’t work. Unimpressed by building security for residents. There are better options in Lakewood. It’s a shame, because the location is good.
nope. Terrible management company and if you like getting ZERO sleep from construction starting between 6am-9am lasting HOURS every day then this may be your spot. I've even tried turning my tv up but its just so loud. Lobby smells like dog poop and trash. The never clean the dog park. its sick. elevators have a mind of their own, dropping you off wherever. management NEVER tells you important things like alarms, elevators down, water shut offs, construction hours. which is nuts considering they use AppFolio and they can send mass texts and emails for things like that. You'll wait forever on an elevator that's never going to come. I was actually told almost 2 years ago that construction would last 2 months HAAAAAAAHHAAAAA yea, no, still happening and its BAD. I'm home more now so I'm starting to understand everyone else's complaints. for the price its not worth it. they really have no "luxury" amenities. take your money elsewhere. Do not live here.
I lived at center north for two years and had an awesome experience! Rachel is amazing & took her time to make sure that I had the apartment I wanted as well as needed. I never had any issues with my apartment. Close to everything & such a convenient location. Loved the layouts of the apartments and the amenities were great! The view is even more amazing - and the gym downstairs was a huge plus for me. Wouldn't have wanted to live anywhere else in Lakewood other than Center North.
I recently moved out and am really going to miss my apartment. All the units are modern with updated appliances and fixtures, I love the granite countertops and the dark brown wooden cabinets!! I’m a big shopper and the huge walk in closet supported my addiction. My unit was also very quiet, I never heard my neighbors besides an occasional dog bark. The building is very pet friendly and the indoor dog park is so convenient! The staff was also very helpful and friendly, especially Rachel and Chuck! Amazing location close to so many great restaurants, coffee shops, and Lakewood Park.
Don't live here if you enjoy elevators that work for more than 2 days in a row and having the ability to control the temperature in your apartment
Please save yourself a nightmare and do not move here. Yes they are beautiful but that’s where it ends. The appliances are cheap, the thermostats do not work and it may take you 5 hours to dry your laundry. Since I’ve been here there’s been a water break which displaced 15 residents with little to no communication. Workers were coming into apartments with no warning, things were misplaced etc. The elevators have always been sketchy, sometimes they work, sometimes they shake like hell and send you to random floors. We just found out recently the apartment was cited by the state for being out of compliance. All through this there was literally no communication from the company. Please do not trust our leasing agent; she is very nice but she knew all of this was/is happening and continues to lie to potential new tenants. Part of the reason our elevators are in such bad shape is that the company stopped paying the original company that was fixing them . I just want to save people the grief we’ve all gone through. :-)
Pros: Awesome location on Detroit, gym, fairly large units, modern units, washer/dryer, dishwasher, Forage in the lobby, nice outside community deck/balcony, decent rent price Cons: Can't control temperature in units, sub-par washer/dryer, sub-par dishwasher, elevators break down constantly, construction during the day, lack of communication from management Overall, you need to weigh the pros & cons. I loved the location & liked the style of my unit - those outweighed the cons but I couldn't do more than a few years here. Management needs to either step up their game or sell the building to a company that is more experienced with running residential properties.
The floors and giant windows are modern and "nice-looking." That's just about it. Every story you read in the one-star reviews are 100% true, and they'll probably never get better. Plus, everything in this apartment is pretty cheap — from the roll-on flooring to the fake thermostats and the chintzy appliances... Management for this apartment building only has experience working with commercial properties and real estate sales. They're grossly understaffed, inexperienced and 100% OFFSITE. That's a problem for a building with 14 floors worth of residents. Here are my specific issues: - Daily interior construction noise that usually starts before 8:00 AM — It's literally been an issue since I moved in... - Fire alarm tests in the middle of winter with NO warning - Crummy appliances - Cannot control the temperature - Sagging, cracked ceiling There are plenty of residents who have had WAY worse problems than me. Read some of the other reviews! I cannot believe how they handled the whole flooding issue. Anyways, I've been here almost a year and I'm not renewing my lease. If you're shopping for an apartment with modern amenities, see if you can stretch your budget to live in Tremont or find a nicely-renovated century property with a management team that actually cares.
The apartments themselves are beautiful. But everything else is a nightmare. Got stuck on an elevator (they never work). Can't control temperature in apartments, thermostats are cosmetic. Management is horrible! They have no idea how to run residential properties. They have no empathy when things go wrong. They deflect blame and talk over you. Someone flooded at least 15 residents apartments and I know they did not ask for that to happen. However, they are clueless of how to handle the situation. We were all told we had to leave our apartments. Most had to go to hotels and have not been reimbursed. Then they ripped out floors out, moved our appliances and furniture in the middle of the apartments and made us move back in with no floors and dirt and dust everywhere. They broke several of my items in the process. They misplaced a rug they insisted they didn't move. Only to find it and bring it back with no apology. They tell you your floors are being fixed a certain day to have pets locked up and everything moved. You leave for 14 hours and come home to nothing being touched and no communication. Then they busted through my doors the next morning with no warning when I have no clothes on. Make me leave. I leave for what would be another 12 hour day and then I am told they are not working on my apartment that day because I wasnt ready for them. I've never been treated with such disregard and lack of respect in my life. The manager is not on site and hasnt a clue what is going on. She comes from retail. It's been almost a month and still no word on how we will be compensated for this headache. The worst communication skills I have ever seen. Apartments are beautiful..but the experience you will get along with it is not worth it. I'm getting out of here ASAP.
Who is giving this place 5 stars? I don’t care how nice the apartments are, the people running this place are an absolute joke. Every single person. I have been here for over 6 months and there has not been a day that has gone by without a problem and that is no exaggeration.
I want to start off by saying the apartments are amazing and there are plenty of amenities. However, the building itself doesn’t make you feel that you’re in a luxury apartment. The curb appeal is horrendous. Missing walkway tile in front of the building, no flowers, FILTHY windows in the back and the front! There are cigarette butts in the back entry way. If people are paying top dollar to live here they should feel it as soon as they walk in. Curb appeal and entry ways are important! The sign should light up at night.
Where do I start. I’ll start with pros. Nice apartments with nice applicances. They are quite. That’s it. Cons: everything else. Management is an absolute joke, and knows nothing about what it takes to run a residential building. Kowit Company has never owned a residential building before (only commercial), and it shows. Both the leasing manager and property manager are clueless. They feed you excuse after excuse. I have witnessed more situations that could have and might still result in a tenant negligence lawsuit against them. This could be prevented if there was communication and common sense. Also there are 4 elevators. Only 3 have barely worked since I moved in. And with that you are gambling on whether or not at least one is working. I should also mention that there was a fire alarm test at 7:30am, where they evacuated the building when it was 6 degrees outside and kids also live in the building, which the property manager knew nothing about!
First of all, I will say the apartments themselves are very nice. Other than that the place is a total nightmare. There isn't an on-site property manager whatsoever, the leasing agent is by appointment only who is completely clueless on what is actually taking place in the building. If something breaks, don't expect it to get fixed within a week, let alone a month. Management could care less about the tenants, I have been trying to get something fixed in my apartment for 4 months and all I ever get are excuses, half answers, and straight up lies as to why it hasn't been fixed. The lack of communication among staff and to tenants is appalling. Management literally has no clue on what is going on at their property. I have lived in Class A apartments for the last 9 years, and I work with Multifamily owners as well all over Cleveland and nothing compares to how bad this is. Most days tenants are lucky if 1 out of 4 elevators work. The elevators themselves are not safe. Ownership needs to bring in an entire new staff or hire a 3rd party property management company to run this place properly, otherwise it will never improve.
You can’t find a better location in dynamic downtown Lakewood. The apartments are new, with compelling floor plans. The lease agreement is easy to understand and fair. And Rachel, the property manager, with her timely and honest texts as you progress through the rental process, will make you feel, like she did me, as if you’re the only one she’s working with. Wonderful!
I've lived here for about 6 months and could not be happier! The building itself is very nice and it has a downtown yet quiet vibe with the perks of an uptown setting. The rooms are brand-new and luxurious, the weight room is solid, has a dog park, mail room, and parking is good. Aside from the great building, it is smack-dab in the middle of everything in Lakewood (Winking Lizard, Giant Eagle, Angelo's, Barrio, Melt, Deagan's, Chipotle, and 16-bit, among others) and has Forage on the main floor, which is convenient and delicious. Finally, the management is spectacular and really understand high quality hospitality. Overall, I highly recommend this new hot-spot to anyone looking for a nice, quiet, centrally located high-rise apartment that does not disappoint!
I moved in about a month ago and can't say enough great things about this apartment. I moved from a house so it's been a little bit of a transition for me, but so far I LOVE it. I am in walking distance of so many great restaurants (Humble, Melt, Degans), coffee shops, and so many other unique shops. The apartments themselves are high-end and brand new. Rachel, the property manager, has been great to work with. One of the other great things is I never hear anyone in this building. I never hear the neighbors on either side or any noise from above or below. I have lived in apartments before and this has always been an issue. Not in this building.
I toured the property at center north and I have good suspicion that this property will be an amazing place with proper management. Rachel was very accommodating and gave me a thorough tour of the property and answered all of my question efficiently. I look forward to seeing this project come together. The units are going to be very lively and the price is very appealing. The location is also a big win.
