Situated just three miles north of Downtown Grand Rapids, Creston blends both big-city conveniences and peaceful suburban living in a charming Midwestern neighborhood setting. Tree-lined streets and impressive homes and apartments make up the area that includes Creston and a few other neighborhoods. The area is also home to some of the city's biggest parks. Riverfront Park holds miles of bike trails, walking trails, waterfront picnic areas, and even a wetland boardwalk. Plainfield Avenue is where locals go to grab a bite to eat or go grocery shopping. Families love the area for its laid-back suburban attitude and access to schools, while other renters appreciate the easy access to downtown. Access to Interstate 96 and 196 makes commuting around the Grand Rapids area a breeze.

Property Ratings at Central Park Place
Moved into Central Park Place in 2023. Upon entering our unit on move-in day, our dryer was not hooked up, blinds were left in a pile out on the balcony, there was a door with a fist sized hole in it that had not been replaced, there were no screens in any of the windows (which there are supposed to be), and there is still a large brown stain on the ceiling above the microwave that "can't really be cleaned up because it's from the microwave vent". For several months the keypad to our building was broken off, so anyone could just walk right in without the code. The apartment buildings themselves might as well be made of cardboard with how poorly insulated they are. Expect to pay near $200/mo in electric during the summer, even while keeping your unit at 75. For the quality of the apartments, I would expect them to be priced for those with low income, but instead they are competing with some of the local luxury complexes in rent. Maintenance is relatively responsive and comes within 24 hours, however each time I've had to call them they have not actually fixed the issue and have had to come back 2-3 times. This complex is conveniently located near Plainfield, the highway, and Knapp's Corner, but none of that undoes how poor the quality of the apartments is. If you are looking for an apartment in Grand Rapids, I implore you to search elsewhere.
We recently moved in and are quite pleased! You know when you see the Property Manager out watering plants on the weekend that you've found a good place. The team at CPP have been very responsive all the way through our application process, the follow up afterward, and the maintenance request after we moved in. The location is phenomenal: Easy access to I-96, shopping in Plainfield or on the East Beltline, a quick trip to downtown GR, and the airport is only 20 mins away. The best part is that the area is so quiet and peaceful. All our neighbors are respectful, minimal car traffic, the grounds are well kept, the pool and gym are nice, and we feel safe here. If you're looking to be in GR, give Central Park Place a good look.
I moved here from out of state. During the first 4 months or so of our lease it wasn't so bad. Maintenance was responsive and not rude. In the past 5 months though, that has changed a lot. We are regularly questioned when maintenance comes, they are extremely rude, basically insinuating that we don't know what we're talking about. We were told a problem was normal, only to have a mushroom growing on our porch a month and a half later. Now we are not being told what maintenance they are doing to fix this, but there is still an open work order. We have constant maintenance issues. The glass on our apartment complex door was shattered, and they did not replace it until there was glass all over the ground, and it still took them 2-3 weeks after that to replace it. We clean the toilets all the time because mold grows in them within days. You have to pay all of utilities separately, increasing the cost to live here by hundreds of dollars, especially if you get unlucky like I did and get an extremely dated air conditioner. There are air gaps in the doors and windows meaning your old air conditioner is running a lot. All of our appliances are extremely dated and run down. This is an apartment that looks nice, with a fresh coat of paint, but living here is horrible.
Hot tub closed last summer and never opened this season. Landscaping was not kept up, even with assigned car ports never could park in ours someone always was in it. The parking in general was horrible, many times had to park on the other side of the complex. Police were on scene more times than not, at all times of the day, with flash lights shining in the windows. Management “posted” letters multiple times on our door stating we had to remove our grill, yet never once did we have one. Another letter stating to remove a flower pot with flowers, other tenants had tons of junk but a flower pot, humm. The buildings may look somewhat decent but the appliances are so old, causing the utilities to astronomical. Location is the only advantage this place has. For the price it’s not worth it. Even if you need something short term or short notice look elsewhere.
I've lived here for a while now, and it was great when I first moved in. All amenities were available and maintenance was quick. Lately though it seems as though things have been going down hill. Our pool was closed for a couple days(which i understand happens), the community grille is broken and only has the highest setting available, the fire pit has apparently been "waiting for parts" for almost two months now. The other day I walked into the locker rooms and it was an absolute mess, there was things broken everywhere and the toilets werent even flushed, it looked like an angry resident had taken there frustrations out on the locker room. I've stressed my concerns to the office, and they are very apologetic but they almost seem just as upset about these things as i am. I think some updating is in need!
The rent is way higher than they say. There’s a $29 fee to pay your rent online, and they screw the rent box shut. Also after the first year they’ll raise your rent $70.
I found this to be a nice place to live. The apartment I was in was very quiet, which was a major upside. Not a single time could I hear my neighbors from inside my apartment (except for the water turning on). It's right next to I-96, and I could pretty much hear it 24/7, but it's a gentle whisper. If it doesn't bother you while you're viewing the apartment, it won't bother you when you're living there. If you need a little white noise in order to sleep, it's perfect! When I used the covered parking, I would often find spots of "bird residue" on my car, so I started using the open parking instead. The management filled all my maintenance requests in a timely manner. (Although there was one request where they didn't respond for about a week. I called the office and they said "whoops, we'll get to it right away"--and they did, as promised.)
I like living here, the staff is very friendly. Great location, although I wish there were sidewalks so I could feel safer running in the neighborhood. It is nice being able to submit maintenance requests online. Any requests I've submitted have been fixed the day of or the following day, which is awesome. I love having a fireplace. Having a code to get in the building is great too. It is very quiet, I don't really hear my neighbors except for the water turning on is pretty loud. Also, whenever someone enters the building I hear the door bang and it even somehow makes my door shake even though I'm all the way upstairs in the back. The washer and drier is outdated but it's great having one in the apartment. The cabinets in the kitchen and bathrooms are very outdated and none of the appliances have been updated in a very long time! The microwave is so old there isn't even a turntable in it. Though they are old appliances they all seem to work so far. My biggest complaint is that they advertise the workout room as a "fitness center" which makes it sound a lot more grand than it really is. It is so small and there is only two cardio machines and basically a bow flex machine. Pretty much only 3 people can be in the very small room at one time. Everytime I tried to go the 2 machines were taken so I've given up trying to workout in there. Wish they would build an actual fitness center for how much rent everyone pays.
I moved into Central Park Place Apartments about 2 years ago, and I couldn't be happier with that decision. This is a quiet and safe community with beautiful upkeep throughout the entire complex. Along with the buildings, the pool space, clubhouse, bark park, and the property in its entirety are always maintained really well. It is also located really close to the highway, restaurants, shopping centers, and it's not even a 10 minute drive to downtown.
Central Park Place is like living in a home. I have lived here for three years and it is s fantastic community. The office staff is always helpful. My maintenance issues are promptly met. The apartment has special features that make it more of a home. It is quiet. If there is an issue with noise the office staff takes care of it.I would and have recommended this community tp anyone.
