Property Ratings at CentrePointe
The apartment spaces themselves are relatively nice with some OK amenities but I don't recommend living here unless you like the sound of construction humming you to sleep at night all hours of the night for the next 3 years. Additionally, downstairs units can be VERY noisy if you have an upstairs neighbor (footsteps and even doggy steps all day long). EV charging is consistently broken, this time has been down almost a month and no fix. A sizeable chunk of the parking lot is taken out by some landscaping project that was supposed to end a month ago? There's a unit that appears to have been burned in a fire and nothing has been done to it for the year and a half I've lived here. Does property management know or care about any of these things? But most importantly the construction on Friars creates many undesirable issues that allegedly won't be going away until 2026. Maybe if the units were half the price it would be wroth it.
While the apartments are very nice and everything is kept in great shape, they don't care about anything except your money. My bank auto-mails my rent and even though I've paid on time for the past year, they have no wiggle room for if your rent is late. They charge you the fee regardless and make you bring in a certified check or money order within 3 days or you will be evicted. To be fair, everything is laid out in your lease... but many landlords will be more understanding if you've been a good tenant. They also raise your rent every year. If you can get a great 1-year lease price, then go for it, but make sure you pay on time or you'll be hit with a ton of fees... and then make sure you have a different place lined up after because the month-to-month rent was quoted as over $500 more a month. You either lock in or you get robbed.
I have two pit bulls, very well trained and not aggressive at all. When I take them for walks just about every time there is a smaller dog who lunges or growls at them but they just ignore the dogs aggressive behavior and mind their own business. A few weeks ago 2 technicians came to fix a leak in my apartment. They entered, my dogs barked at first and sniffed then went and laid on the couch while the technicians took over an hour to fix a simple leak. They were friendly and respectful or so I thought. 10 days later I received a letter stating that one of my dogs had bit the technician and I had 7 days to vacate or get rid of the dog. When I asked for pictures the management wouldn't show me, when I asked if medical attention was given or a police report they said they didn't know. Obviously no medical attention was needed and no police report because if there was animal control would have shown up and taken my dog to make sure he's up to date on all his shots. The management didn't have the decency to come talk to me face to face or even ask if the dog bite claim was legit they just went straight to eviction status. The headache that this has caused and how poorly this situation was handled blows my mind. I guess someone can say your dog bit them and without any investigation or proof or talking to you first these lazy people will just go straight to trying to evict you. I had to get a lawyer on my own dime to get them to back off. Clearly they had no proof and has really put a bitter taste in my mouth about Essex as a whole. I will never rent from them again and you shouldn't either if you want to be treated with respect.
