The Loop serves as Chicago’s downtown district and is home to many of the city’s most famous landmarks: the Willis Tower (formerly the Sears Tower), Buckingham Fountain, and City Hall, to name just a few. The skyline is dominated by skyscrapers representing well over a century’s worth of architectural designs and styles, from the earliest Victorian-era high-rises to ultra-modern glass towers and everything in between.
What’s it like to live in the Loop? The neighborhood is loaded with everyday attractions like the lakefront, which gives the neighborhood stunning waterfront views. The dining scene is incredible, with world-class food of every description readily available anywhere you look. The nightlife incorporates everything from dives and corner taverns to swanky nightclubs and cocktail bars. Renters pay a premium to live here, but they get to enjoy all the benefits of having the very best of Chicago right at their doorstep.

Property Ratings at Century Tower
Beautiful building and nice rooms, nice gym, nice roof and common areas. Unfortunately, it is the loudest building in the entire city of Chicago. Spent a year trying to sleep with trains every 15 seconds to 1 minute. Clark and Lake Station houses multiple El trains (not just 1!) so it is relentless. Bought earplugs, noise cancelling headphones, etc but it is just exhausting. They will not tell you this until you move in and experience it for yourself.
Nice building, nice staff inside, terrible management that does not care.
Avoid living here or it will be a Start of nightmare for you. You will regret if you go with this place. You won’t realize until you move in. A tour doesn’t show you everything. It’s like you are paying for living in a construction site. This place is like a joke.
I’ve lived here for 2 years now & have loved it. Right in the loop so you’re near everything & you can’t beat the price for the location. I’ve never had a problem with management, maintenance was great, & yes, Will is incredible. Very sad that I have to move but would recommend this place to anyone!
Management was very poor as they lacked communication, decency, and fairness with its tenants. The windows are old so you can hear the subway throughout your apartment. The only positive is Will and John working the front door.
I recently moved into one of Century Tower’s newly renovated apartments about a month ago. The new renovations that they have done are great – beautiful hardwood floors, in unit washer/dryer, quarts countertops, etc. Also, the new amenities are great with a beautiful new workspace, pool table, bar, fitness center, rooftop deck, package room, and more. The common areas are kept extremely clean – I literally see someone down their everyday cleaning and it is truly kept spotless. The management here is great – after filling out a survey that they sent and mentioning that the new shades that were installed in my unit were semi see through and didn’t provide privacy (an issue with a studio that has five windows that would require custom curtain rods/curtains which would have been a large expense) they installed new blinds! It’s so great to have a management company that takes feedback to heart and looking to improve even on the small details. Additionally, they’ve hosted events in the common areas with refreshments to inform tenants of new systems such as the keyless entry on your cellphone and fire safety. The door staff, maintenance team, and neighbors are very friendly. With the building being the tallest reinforced concrete structure in the world when it was built in the 30s, I’m not sure if the walls between units are concrete – but I literally never hear my neighbors which is also a great plus. If you’re looking for a new place in the loop, be sure to check out Century Tower. The location is great with the river walk on the same block! And if you’re lucky enough to get a corner unit like mine, you can see the Merchandise Mart’s projected light show right from your window. Did I mention they are pet friendly!?! Thanks Century Tower for making my first month in Chicago a great one!
The management office is mismanaged, the EL is right outside the building and amazingly loud at all hours of the day, the studios are so small that when you cook it’s impossible for the fire alarm to not go off, and the smell of smoke/pot comes through my bathroom and living room vents from neighbors. You also have to pay the cable/WiFi fee even if you do not want to have cable in your unit. Will be moving out when my lease is up. The only upside of living here is the doorman Will, he is the best.
New Management Company has taken over (GoLub) and everything has gone downhill quickly. They offer free AC/Heat but it May and have still yet to turn on the A/C in the building because the system is "broken" and have been trying to get it fixed. They said due to "unseen" repairs. It's May, Maybe you have had the A/C system checked before you have to turn it on. Because of no A/C we had to buy fans and run them all day forcing our Energy Bill to rise. Wi-Fi goes down at least 3 to 4 times a week in the unit and no repose as to why this keeps happening. The reason this Rent is so cheap is because price matches the care and basic knowledge of the management company.
Property Manager at Century Tower, Responded To This Review
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback here and for discussing with us via email. We sincerely apologize for the inconveniences you've experienced. The inconsistent spring weather made the timing more challenging than usual on the switch from heating to cooling and unforeseen repairs didn’t help. The A/C system is now fully operational and we appreciate your patience as we worked through the issues. Though our internet services are provided by Comcast, we’re happy to contact them directly on your behalf if they are not resolving your issues. We are sorry Century Tower fell short of your expectations but truly wish you the best on your relocation.
The pros of this building are as follows. For 1200 a month, this place really gives you a nice location and size in the city of Chicago. You have excellent doorman / doorwoman inside the building who are always available, close to a great selection of stores / restaurants, and the building has a decent laundry facility and work out room. The cons of this building are as follows. The laundry room and workout facility are not really as nice as they should be, You have to pay money if you get locked out of your building, and you have to usually rent an apartment through someone who owns an individual unit rather than the building itself. Overall, I recommend this building if you really want to live in the area and are looking for an affordable place.
Need a central location in downtown Chicago? Look no further than the Chicago Loop and Century Tower located right along the Chicago River. The CTA El train is right out front to take you to O'Hare and Midway airports. The main theatres in Chicago are only blocks away. Amazing dining and nightlife is all within walking distance. You get all of this at an affordable price. This is the best spot you can be in if you work and live in Chicago.
