Property Ratings at Century Towers Apartments
Century Towers markets itself as "luxury apartments." As a former tenant of the building, I'd like to commend the building for living up to its luxury standard. Amenities are always a big selling point for most renters. Century Towers offers a coffee bar that is never restocked, a mini mart where you'd be better off going out to grab things, and a gym full of dangerous, busted equipment. The building also offers two elevators, though if you live in the upper floors, be prepared to get your cardio in when one or both elevators break. Do you like little critters? You'll get a bunch at Century Towers! Critters include roaches, mice, and rats that management will ignore, letting these little fellas stay in your home rent-free. While the site doesn't include any permanent water features, Century Towers has cascading waterfalls in nearly every window. You can count on standing water in a windowsill accented by black mold anytime it rains. Century Towers also offers a gated parking lot and fob entry into the building. The guard shack at the entry gate is self-service with no security present. This is probably why there were a series of break-ins to cars and property damage. Tenants pay a monthly parking fee meant for the upkeep of the parking lot, a fee that is going to use based on the many potholes. That's ok because tenants that pay to have their car parked in the lot can have their car towed at any time if management deems it too ugly or "broken down." I would be remiss to not acknowledge the management team of the building. The issue is, I don't know who to thank, as management is a rotating door with a new team seemingly every six months. Any issues brought to the on-site management team can be expected to be dealt with in four to seven business weeks. Once maintenance comes to fix your issue, expect yourself to be blamed for the issue and not the 25 year old appliances and equipment. Overall, Century Towers is a lovely place to live with beautiful crumbling walls, lovely mold blooms, and interactive wildlife.

This place has MOLD. ROACHES. BAD MANAGEMENT. They will fine you for false and fabricated reasons. They are being taken to court by many people. The bad reviews are only just starting. People have had their cars stolen, broken into. They thrive on being close to the school and taking advantage of new students. Your life will be harder here. There are no benefits to this place. The laundry machines are constantly full of wet fur, never cleaned and over half are broken so there's always a line. Do not live here.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY HERE! To start off the property is absolutely filthy. The lobby and 5th floor are the only floors that get regular cleaning. There is dog waste all over the property. Trash cans are always overflowing with trash everywhere. There are plenty of roaches and I’ve even encountered a rat early morning on my way through the lobby. Things are always broken from the washer and dryers, printer, equipment in the gym, the gates, and elevators so good luck if you live on the 10th floor like I did. The property also has A LOT OF SAFETY CONCERNS! There are random people sleeping by the dumpsters, and even sometimes in the lobby. It’s unclear if their actually is security because they don’t do anything but sit in their cars. There has been instances when dozens of cars had been broken into and some even stolen. The package System is absolutely terrible. There is no package room. Packages are thrown into the lobby. Or just not delivered if the leasing office is not open. So you are only able to pick up you package in those hours. So you are SOL if you need your package during the weekend or if you are working 12 hour shifts. Honestly the only good thing about living there was it was very convenient to get to UMKC’s campus but I HIGHLY DO NOT RECOMMEND.
Used to be a nice place for med students to live but now it’s horrendous. It’s gross (they rarely ever clean) has roaches, and something’s always breaking (elevator, gate, washing machines). Also every year they randomly increase fees even though nothing has improved.
Not only is it extremely dangerous but it’s run extremely poorly as well. Cockroaches everywhere. Staff does not fix anything.
I highly recommend living here to all KCU students!! The management is super nice and willing to help whenever you need it. They even organize parties throughout the year. In my second year, they organized a Halloween party on the helicopter pod!! In the occasional repair or maintenance, they would come almost immediately to help. I loved living here because of the community. It is great to be surrounded by other classmates, who understand what you're going through. The library on the fifth floor is a huge plus as well. It's always a great option when you do not want to walk to campus or it's too cold outside. Aldi's is super close, which is a huge timesaver. If you are opting to do your first two years of medical school without a car, this is the place to live. Many students still do though, including me. Living here will make your lives much easier and simpler. I lived somewhere else my first year and seriously regretted it. The management is awesome, the rooms are all you need, and the location is the best. The views from the apartment complex are also spectacular! Especially if you are facing west, you will have an amazing sunset to watch (almost) every night!! Definitely recommend living here!!
Property manager is rude to tenants and will insult them to their face. Property manager is additionally very hypocritical by parking all day in fire lane and then sending aggressive emails to the tenants telling us not to do the same. Additionally she smokes right next to the front entrance of the building (despite the regulation that we have to be 30 ft away) so we have to smell her smoke every time we walk in. Maintenance is not great. most apartments are in poor condition. Rough neighborhood. Rent keeps increasing despite no benefits. Property manager sends many emails threatening to remove the accommodations such as the gym and library and then touts them to prospective tenants (even though she keeps saying she will take them away). She treats tenants like children and has directly said to us that "For residents which are smart they all really lack common sense. I spend most of my job taking care of them" which is absolutely incorrect. Grounds upkeep is poor due to litter and long periods without lawn care.
Have been here for a few months now and can say that overall it has been a great experience. I am a first year student at KCU and love how convenient the location is, seeing that it is right across the street from the school. In addition, pricing is all inclusive and very fair, especially for a student's budget. They also do a great job in terms of fixing any maintenance issues. The building is a bit older and appears outdated from outside, but they have remodeled most of the interior to give it a more modern look. Management (Gia along with Krystin) does a fantastic job at making residents feel comfortable and welcome, and they do make an effort to create a warm and safe atmosphere. Overall enjoyed my experience here thus far and plan on re-signing my lease for next year!
I am a current 2nd year at KCU and I love living at CT. You truly cannot beat the convenience of waking up 15 minutes before class and walking across the street to make it there on time. I can come back easily between classes on long days which is a bonus for students with pets or students who like to nap like me. I like being surrounded by my classmates, I can easily find someone to study with or can go ask my neighbors when I have a question. The staff is friendly and my maintenance requests are always handled in a very timely manner. I have never seen a cockroach or had any issues like that. The price is also a bonus. I would recommend any KCU students to live here.
Do not go here, it's disgusting and horrible for students to live in. The location is good, that's the only thing I can say about it.
I lived here because it was right across from KCU. For the love of your sanity, do not live here, its effing disgusting. I've been here 2 years, and a couple times a month a cockroach has shown up in my apartment. Today one tried crawling up my leg, which is the last thing you want while trying to study. You'll constantly check the shower for them before stepping in. Find somewhere else, its not worth it.
The only reason to live in this neighborhood is if you're a student at KCU. For students, the convenience and low rent at CT can't be beat.
