Pine Hill lies about 30 miles southeast of Philadelphia and 90 miles southwest of New York City. The city's slogan, "Home for a Lifetime" represents the high level of renters with families who settle in the area, although Pine Hill is home to a diverse community. The small borough — just over four square miles — prides itself as a happy hybrid of suburban convenience and beautiful rural scenery. Here, you'll find plenty to do, see and eat. The Atlantic City Express and New Jersey turnpike aren’t far, making it easy to connect with the big city without going too far from your apartment.

Property Ratings at Chalet Gardens Apartments
I have lived here for 14 years and it is the best development in this area. Very spacious with all the amenities you need. The one thing I like best is how quickly the maintenance department responds to my request. I want to especially thank Mr. Cory for all he do . He is quick to respond and complete my request. He is very professional and always seems happy to assist. Thank you Cory keep up the great work you do.
Just plain awful place to live at. I was there for 5 years, thank God I finally moved out. past management wasn’t bad, some of the people in the office lacked of manners and had a loud mouth. Present management is horrible but the girls in front desk were very professional. Good luck trying to get something fixed. I had work orders from February and never got done, maintenance guys are terrible, they will go into my apartment without permission, claiming to work on a work order totally different from what I requested. We felt like we had no privacy, I called the office and reported the guy, the lady in the office said he made a mistake, I called 3 times about the same issue, and nothing was solved. My apartment was sideways do to a sinking problem in the complex, they raised the bottom unit and my apartment got destroyed, I was embarrassed to have friends come over, I lived like that for 7 months, I made 4 work orders witch NEVER NEVER got done. The units are not properly sealed so you have spiders and crickets coming into to the apartment all the time in a ridiculous way. They said there’s nothing they can do because it’s a wooded area. My ac went out 3 times in 2 years after the 3rd time guy came and said it was fixed, I got home on a hot day and the ac was still out, I decided to go with ac window units witch at the end it was cheaper for me. Loud neighbors at night is the biggest issue. Cops get called all the time. Yes they new renovated units look nice but it doesn’t change the horrible maintenance and lack of attention to the tenants problems. I think it’s hilarious how someone answers to the reviews to the people who already left with a bad experience. Management kept a portion of my deposit claiming an improper disposal of trash, HOW ABOUT YOU GIVE ME SOMETHING ETRA BACK FOR NOT FIXING ANYTHING WHILE I WAS PAYING EVERY MONTH!! And don’t be fooled by the staff being friendly and extremely nice at the begging, once you sign the lease, God help you.
I moved into rug beetles and my door wasn’t even fully painted. Apartment had trash from last tenant out back and front. Trying to get ahold of maintenance is a joke. On top of that I’m not that impressed with the remodeling I’d rather the old with the same rate. Not worth it at all. Couldn’t even understand the guy on the phone for maintenance!
i just wanna say how nice the new changes have been! we have only been here for two years, but the changes are out of this WORLD! i do wish the gym would open soon, bc everyone is really excited for it. the new office staff is so nice! they did keep the older lady and i would recommend anyone to just deal with the manager or the leasing staff bc she can yell and talk over you......... but it really is changing and my boyfriend and i love it now!
I recently moved in from having a horrible experience somewhere else and Bre and Margaret took such good care of me and assured me that I was in good hands. There was even a handwritten move in card in the apartment waiting for me. I would recommend Chalet and in fact I already have! Please request Bre or Margaret as they will take great care of you!!!!
Know your rights under the NJ Landlord/Tenant Act and use your resources. Prior to signing your lease, they're suppose to provide every tenant with the booklet; You can also find it online for free. The entire management team is terrible when it comes to addressing major issues. The fire department/police department are always here, a lot of drug activity and you're not getting what you're paying for. They raised the rent and started charging a flat fee for water/sewage... DO YOUR HOMEWORK AND CONSULT WITH AN ATTORNEY BEFORE SIGNING YOUR LEASE OR LOOK FOR A BREACH OF YOUR LEASE SO YOU CAN GET OUT OF IT ASAP! Don't bother wasting your time or money here.
These apartments are finally a nice place to call home. The new Management has made improvements and I can’t wait to see what they do next.
New management with new rules and not communicating with renters is the worse . New management only helps tenants living in the front with maintenance needs. I advise to look some were else.
This complex is not where you want to live. I have been living here for about 4 years now and I am 100% disappointment. The new management staff is completely rude and has no compassion. If you disagree with them, they get frustrated and have attitudes. They will ignore your calls because they have caller-id. The manager is not friendly at all, I have been in that office numerous times and she walked right past me without a greeting. She is very uptight and not welcoming. I was considering moving into a newly renovated apartment but I wouldn't dare now. First off, they made me re-apply and pay an application fee of $100, even though I am already living in the complex. Second off, not all the appliance are stainless steel. The laundry room is not renovated and the washer and dryer are so old. The heating and cooling units are extremely old and you will have an electric and gas bill out of this world. With the new counters, there is less room. They took away some of the counter spaces. In addition, not all the renovated apartments are the same so be careful when choosing. For example, someone who is paying the same amount of rent that you are could have a better closet space with racks already installed. The complex looks a mess and trashy because they are just working all over the place. Nails and wood are left around all the time. The pool is TERRIBLE!!!!! On top of they charge a ridiculous amount of money for a pool pass that you can only use for about four months. The rent they charge is RIDICULOUS. The maintenance is horrible and they never truly fix anything. My brand new back door has been broke since they installed and I have put in several work orders. I would recommend putting your money into another complex that actually cares about it's residents and has true customer services. The ladies in the office may seem nice but don't disagree with them because you will end up on their bad side. They also have been begging the residents to post nice reviews to get rid of the bad ones. Do not be fooled.
I have been living here for years and this place was messed up but I only stayed here because it was cheap, but now my neighbor told me to upgrade to the nicer apartments and I did and it’s so modern I am so glad I did, it’s pricer for sure but it’s worth it and all my friends love it here also shout-out to bre for helping me resign my lease I’m not tech savvy and she really helped me and my god mom out
A friend told me to tour with Bre and she was amazing! Very classy knowledgeable and genuine. The property is also updated and seems like they are continually improving
I love this community because the environment here is beautiful and amazing view of mountains from the apartment. very close like 4 mins drive to Walmart, Staples and all other Shopping malls, Restaurants and grocery stores. This place is very commute to travel in buses like 2 minutes walk from the apartment. The Manager is very kind and good person. I recently had an issue with the refrigerator, So I complained him, he quickly came to check and understood the problem and within couple of days got replaced with new refrigerator. Thanks to the manager to be so quick to solve the issue
I came in to get an application and spoke to the leasing consultant Jenay, I didn't qualify for the requirements to get in... However, Jenay was so helpful and very informative. She even referred me to a couple other complexes that were in my price range. I'm sad that I don't qualify, but one thing I can say is when I do become qualified I will definitely apply. I see a lot of BIG changes being done to the property and I must say I am shocked and excited! I will definitely be back next year, hopefully the prices stay the same lol!
Someone had mentioned this place to me, so I decided to take a look at the property and man was I impressed! The renovations and changes to the interior and exterior make it seem like a Five Star place to live. While I am not financially able to live in the area at this time, I was able to chat with Bre and get a very nice tour form her. She is an awesome and lively person that provided great information about the property. Would highly recommend looking here!
I lived here for about 2 years now and although the prior management was kinda flawed my overall experience here has been great. The new management appears to be more attentive and proactive so I’ll do another year here before moving forward. I also really love the renovations!! Glad the changes are finally being made!!
I lived here a few years ago and came back to see about possibly moving back in, boy am I impressed of the changes that's been made on the property! The apartments look no where near what they used to look like, even the buildings are looking better than what they used to! I don't qualify financially to move in, however if I had the money this is where I would be moving to. I wish I could be part of the change but I'm just happy that it's managed by a company that actually cares about the property.
I have lived here for 7 years now and haven't ever written a review. But with the new management that's here, they've shown so much of what they're doing and are continuing to do to make this community a great place to live!!! They've made the grounds open to see everything, roofing, siding, upgrading the apartments to being completely helpful to the tenants that already reside here and are continuing to do more daily. The staff is approachable and happy to help whenever you need them. Maintenance is able to be quicker and in top of things to get the job done! This new management definitely gets 5 stars!! This is a great community to make home and I'm glad I made the decision to stay!!!!!
I told the ladies at the office, I would do one of these for them since they actually have made progress and turned this place into actual living homes.. it was so bad before nothing would ever work in your apartment and it would take maintenance months to even come out and there was never a fixed rent price before it was legit pay what you want lol trying to move into one of those new updated ones and hopefully they dont charge me an arm and a leg but trust me, so far so good
I normally would never write a review but I have to say in my 12yrs at this property I have never seen it look better and run like the tenants matter the place was sold to a new owner and with a two months the place outside was transformed with new roofs siding and my sliding door was replace the new appliances are amazing all stainless steel new carpets I have to hand it to the new manager or owner I truly love coming home My maintenance calls are answered immediately I've been throught a few owners since I came here 12yrs ago but this is by far the best owers to have ever owned this property and I will continue to live here for hopefully another 12yrs Thank you
I've been living here at Chalet for going on 4 years now. Before when my buddies would ask to come over or even family, I would do everything in my power for them not to come to my apartment complex. It was not somewhere I wanted to stay long term. It was run down on the inside and outside and even neighbors had creatures living in the roof. Now this place is so fancy! updated modern apartments like I see on HGTV. So much money has been poured into this place and its really getting better everyday. I do not plan on leaving anytime soon!
Been a resident for 3 years but so happy about the changes that goin on. Finally happy to call this place home.
if i wrote this review 6 months ago, it would be nothing like i am writing now. 6 months ago this place looked abandoned. Now? It looks great. New roofs, siding etc. Its a whole new world back here. so many of us appreciate these changes more than we can express.
I cant express how many changes have been made to Chalet! It is like night and day! I heard it had been bought again and I just assumed it was gonna be the same ole routine of no maintenance, no upkeep at all and broken promises but I can honestly say that I am impressed. Its been a little noisy but honestly who can complain about progress? I am so excited that I don't have to move! Definitely come check it out for yourself!
I have lived here for about 2 years now. Recently they had new management come in and it seems like they are really making some great changes. They have done a lot of clean up. The girls in the office are very helpful with any issues you may have. I would definitely recommend these apartments to friends and family!
These apartments are trash. They do not look link the picture shown. The pool is dirty. The gas bill is over 400 a month because of poor Insulation and weatherization. Old AC units and heating units not energy-efficient causing your electric bill to be super high. Maintenance is terrible they do not come. You have to call all the way to Texas for emergency maintenance service And he never get your message they are now charging for water and sewer your utilities alone will come up to over $600 per month just for gas and electric and water and sewer. We have a big problem with very very very very big spiders and birds come in threw heating ducks your heating dog
I have lived at Chalet for 8 years and planned to move out at the end of my lease. I liked this area but my roof was leaking everytime it rained and no matter how many complaints I made, it never got fixed. We got notice in April that the property was bought again and I just held my breath waiting for my lease to end. But I will say, since the change, WOW. I am overly impressed at the turn around that has happened here. Since April they have cleaned up the outside tremendously and I got a new roof! It looks like the whole place is getting re done. Diana is great and she is quick to respond now with the new manager. That NEVER happened before! It looks like everyone has a new take on life here! I see movement everyday and I can't describe how happy it makes me. Chalet used to be the quiet hidden place in Pine hill that we loved to live at. I see it coming back!
Do not let the photos fool you.The apartments are old and out-dated and they want to charge a ridiculous amount of money. They are currently under new management and they are rude and inconsiderate. I wouldn't recommend anyone to move into these apartments. Also they have old PILOT GAS RANGES that have gas running at all times making your gas bill ridiculously expensive. It also says water and sewer is included. That is a LIE. You now have to pay $45 for trash and sewer and these are not condos. DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT CONSIDER MOVING TO CHALET GARDENS!
I previously applied with the old owners & was scheduled to move in the end of May. I received a letter stating that I had to reapply in order to keep the same apartment if not the holding fee will be refunded back to me which I did. I reapplied weeks ago and still have yet to receive any information. I called the office numerous times about the status of my application but received nothing. The rent has gone up, and now they are making tenants pay a water fee. I will be signing a lease elsewhere to save me the headache.
This place is a joke. Screwing families over that were previously approved to live here then the week they are due to move in they tell you you cant and have to reapply even though you have paid holding fees and co fees. Very cold New Owners who would rather the hard working people who have done everything they needed to do have no were to go.
You name it they suck at it. Holes in the ceilings with squirrels chewing on wires and constantly scratching all day and night! Water coming from the ceiling in the bathroom when upstairs uses their bathroom, MOLD! Mold everywhere. Every time it rains my carpets get soaked. Huge gaps around front door and sliding glass door. They do not maintenance the heating or air conditioning systems at all. The only unit that does get serviced is the office. The only upgrades/remodeling has been done to the very front buildings. The pool is disgusting, nasty green fake grass carpet covered in black mold, huge cracks in the concrete surrounding the pool as well as inside the pool itself. The part is missing equipment although you wouldn’t want your kids to go there anyway. There’s drug dealers everywhere the police are constantly in and out. A few years ago there was a shooting right next to my kids bus stop! At 8 something in the morning!!!! The Staff is terrible. They don’t fix anything unless they are forced to! Chalet used to be a nice complex. It’s a shame because they are very nicely sized. This place has become a dump in the last 5 yrs.
Lived in Chalet for 3 years and my experience was all around decent. Most utilities are included. Updated kitchen with gas stove.Fair rent raises every year. Had a full size washer and dryer off of the bathroom. My neighbors were cool. Felt safe, no riff raff. Had two cars , one newer than the other and they were never bothered.Maintenance was so/so they never cared for anything other my emergency maintenance situations. I have recommended many people to the complex just because i know it is the best deal in south jersey. I wouldnt take my experience back at all because of the affordability of this community i was able to save up for my goals. Its not luxury. It works. Id reccomend.
I lived in Chalet Gardens for approximately 3 yrs. It was my experience living there that pushed me to make the decision to finally buy my first home. I moved into what was supposed to be a newer unit. Ostensibly, it was appealing however, it wasn't long before I began to notice the poor craftmanship in the work done to my unit. Then there was the mold. I notified the rental office of the mold, but nothing was ever done. Then there were some of the tenants who lived in the complex. There were drug dealers, drug users, and other questionable people among my neighbors. There's a subsidized housing apartment complex immediately next to Chalet Gardens. That apartment complex doesn't screen their applicants, so those tenants keep the Pine Hill Police Department busy. Then there's the fact that the land that Chalet Gardens was built on was previously a landfill. The buildings are all sinking. If you place a ball on the floor it will begin to roll on its own. I would not recommend this apartment complex to single women or people with children.
i used to love living at chalet i lived there for (1 1/2)years moved out came back and lived (2) years i now have a roach problem that i called about and complained they sent out their exterminator which is a joke because i am still seeing the problem! not to mention their maintenance team!!! they advertise that one of the amentities is central air however my compressor for our central air has been broken since last june i reported it and it is now August and yet no one has cameto fix it, nobody from the office called to even check status with us to even say they are working on it!! smh i really wish i was in a better perdictiment because i would have never signed on for another year with this place cannot wait to move!!!!
Chalet Gardens is a decent price for a 1-bedroom and the apartments are pretty big. Also they have a cheap pet fee, washer/dryer and included utilities except electricity. However, if you call them with a maintenance issue, for instance my bedroom ceiling is sagging around the heating vent and will obviously cave in at some point, they come look at it, say how awful and dangerous it is and that they'll be back to work on it in a day or so. Then they never come back, you never hear anything about it again and you have to go to the rent office again to file yet another complaint. Final result- still not fixed. Also my laundry room ceiling was leaking in several places- they came over with buckets, took weeks to finally fix it, and the next time it rained it leaked again. I've informed the office well over a month ago now and still no word and still a leaky ceiling. Everything is thrown together with no quality- the extremely heavy soapdish, the ones that are attached to shower walls and weight about ten pounds, fell off our wall for no reason. We left it down, but they insisted they put it back up for inspections so they wouldn't get fined. The thing fell off again two days later nearly breaking my husband's foot while he showered. Told them about it- this was over a year ago- the soapdish is still under my bathroom sink. But when there's firewood behind the building, in the backyard, they're ultra quick to write you a letter telling you that you better move it and you're violating your lease, but they will not hold up their end of the agreement that everyone signed. They will sacrifice the safety of their residents to save a few dollars. They will ignore you for weeks and act like you're a jerk when you ask for attendance to their responsibilities. They will raise the rent every year. They will allow people (including their own employees) to park their cars around dangerous, narrow curves and never put up signs or send out notices or trim the surrounding bushes about that. They will consistently only act in ways beneficial to themselves at the present moment. I'm not expecting to be waited on or favored, just a degree of human decency would be nice. The jowners of this place do not possess that.
This is one of the nicest and cleanest apartments I ever seen. I ben living here since April and I needed few things fixed the helpful staff was at my apartment the next day and fixed my stuff. office staff and handyman's are very friendly and helpful.
Great Apartment. Very roomy. Some units have updated appliances and they all have full washer/dryer in its own room. Been here for almost 9yrs.
In the past few years my stay at Chalet Gardens has been a wonderful experience. The staff has been so gracious and efficient from the start. They are extremely professional. My experience can not compare to the warmth that Chalet Gardens as landlords. The management is like a family who will respond quickly at any problem that is brought upon the premises. They should be the model that each complex should follow on how to treat tenants. Everyone here follows the policies and guidelines without any questions. The neighbors are very respectful. In addition to that the units are gigantic with large rooms and a separate laundry inside the unit which is a fantastic feature. Their are nearby supermarkets and stores in the neighborhood. Chalet is ten minutes from Clementon Park. Bus service is walking distance and transportation is minutes away from going to Philadelphia and Atlantic City. You can definitely call Chalet Gardens home.
First let me say the price is AWESOME for New Jersey. I live in a 1 bedroom apartment with my partner. Its not very big but its enough space to fit our needs. Its like a small/big apartment if you know what I mean. The eat in kitchen is bigger then ALL the apartments I have lived in or looked at previously. The bathroom is on the small side but has a great linen closet and counter space to make up for the lack of space and there is a laundry room, NOT Laundry closet as most apartments have but an entire room, with a full size washer and dryer. The bedroom is big enough for my king size bedroom suit. The overall apartment is about 760 sq ft but the layout helps you to utilize every single inch without feeling cramped. The apartment complex pays heat, hot water and gas, which is a very big deal because the stove is gas and I love to cook. The maintenance and office teams are very nice and prompt if there is ever any issues. The neighborhood is beautifully tree lined, very quiet, safe and pet friendly. The only complaint I have is I wish the windows were updated, it is a bit drafty in the winter and a little hard to maneuver. But, all in all I am very happy here and I just brought blackout curtains to reduce the draft which was well worth it.
I have lived here for a year. The grounds are maintained well and neighbors are mostly quiet. The few times I had to deal with the staff they were always friendly and helpful. I would recommend this complex to anyone.
Home is where the heart is, and my home is at Chalet Gardens Apartments. Living at Chalet Gardens is comfortable living enviroment in a wooded community right outside the city. The Staff here at Chalet Gardens Apartments is exceptional, they are practically family. They are very kind, understanding, and complete work issues in my apartment in a timely fashion. The size of the apartments here at Chalet Gardens is like having all the amenities of living in a single family home, especially having your own laundry room with a full size washer and dryer is a huge plus. I would reccomend all my friends and family to check out Chalet Gardens Apartments.
I'm very surprise on how peaceful and quiet the area is. I don't know where they are hiding the kids.
When you call for repairs it takes forever and when they come they give you an attitude like it is your fault that something broke. Some of them are so RUDE and don't know anything about fixing anything, don't know how they even got the job. Snow removal is a joke, they don't plow the snow until a week after a snow storm and only plow certain parts, out front for sure, have to look good for people driving by. The apartments are big and spacious and love the washer and dryer.
I have lived here for about two years, they have renovated and upgraded this place a lot since. I am so happy the pool is opening and the staff is like family. I must say, I am happy.
