Property Ratings at Chancellor Arms
I lived in 2 units here between 2015-2018, one of which was the exact unit in the photos. I won't go into the issues I had with the landlord at the time since he's long gone- but I don't care who's running it as the only way to save this place is to completely tear it down or pick it up and move it elsewhere. The first unit was a one bedroom- it was dark, with an insane ant and roach problem. We're talking the HUGE 2 inch long roaches of your nightmares. The swamp cooler barely worked, and when it was over 100 degrees outside it just blew out hot air. The second unit- the one in the photos- while much nicer with central AC and cleaner (probably because its the model unit), if you ran the AC for longer than a few hours at a time the drip pan in the closet would overflow and it would literally RAIN in the closet. The only solution was to have maintenance come vaccum out the water, but that was just a band aid as they never came often enough. So you can either have a soaked closet with all your belongings or cook alive in the poorly insulated apartment. If it wasn't cats fighting outside every night, it was people digging in the dumpster outside. If not that, then cars INSIDE the parking gate getting broken into- but hey, you get a great view of the massive abandoned lot next door, boarded up buildings and all. Yes, I brought up these issues to 'management'. But it felt like no one was ever available, and maintenance would just show up without prior warning. I only stayed so long because I was a broke student, and it was miserable. I wasn't going to review, but when I saw how much they're trying to charge for this place- I had to speak up. Don't bother!
Property Manager at Chancellor Arms, Responded To This Review
Hello I did see this Review but still scratching head over as to if you were a previous tenant or recent. Well sorry I feel you had these issues at the moment I have told all my tenants several times about complains or issues I try to resolve them myself with what I got in hand but it is tenant responsibility to keep up maintenance and upkeep around the unit unless its caused by problems with unit then we take care of. Meaning a/c problem you would need to clean yourself since its being used by you guys they have products out there to clean drip pan as well with light bulbs we do not cover light bulbs for you guy.Parking inside haven't had issues with cars getting broken into. Haven't had anyone out in dumpsters going through our dumpster we get them to come 2 times a week so it stays empty. For ants and roach problem if you had any haven't had any complaints with any other tenant having any in there unit if you did we do have a vendor who comes out every 2 weeks out of the month and services inside and out the apartment complex. Issue with cats don't hear them or have i had complaints about that either with any other tenant do see them across the apartments due to people feeding outside but not inside the Apartments. Everyone in the Apartment complex has three ways of contacting manager as my hours differ I do not have a set schedule 9 - 5. Sorry you had these issues back in 2015 and 2018.
Apartments are very clean. Noel, the apartment manager, is very accommodating and goes above and beyond. All the residents are very friendly and peaceful. If I could've stayed I would've!
Hello, my name is barbara. I’ve been renting from the complex more than 7+ years and the new manager Noel Alvarado has done great steps to make my living environment peaceful. If I have any question he is available to help. He keeps the complex clean, and the laundry as well. Great place to live in.
I really enjoy living here!! My apartment is very spacious and it includes an energy efficient washer/dryer that makes it so convenient! The freeway is nearby and it makes it easy for me to get around. The maintenance team is hardworking. And the manager is super friendly and always helpful! From many apartments I’ve lived at this is one of my favorites!
The place has really gone downhill since the last manager left a few months ago. The new manager is never available and never in the office. Nobody answers calls, maintenance is not getting done and now the property has roaches! Rent is decent for the area, schools and business near by but aside from that. Stay away and RUN!

Sorry to hear about the situation this place gets constant care for pest control so if a problem like this gets out of control please advise and let Manager know. I the new Manager Onsite have been Caring for these apartments and have been letting the tenants know on how to contact me i personally haven't had any roaches and everyone in this apartment complex has a way of contacting me three ways i am on top of emails and calls and also text messages.
Things have definitely gotten a lot better here over the last few months with the new manager Will. We are not in the best part of Riverside but the complex in general is completely gated and safe, has great and friendly people here since they got rid of some people. The manager is kind of strict but very friendly and is takes care of any situations we have quickly. Nothing but progress since the change in management, they even put in new laundry machines, security cameras, and did some much need remodeling and repairs overall. I know some people here have plumbing problems every now and again but it is kind of a really old building but they are on top of all of these issues. Most of the people here are RCC or UCR students including myself so I would recommend to anyone looking for a cheaper place near the campuses.
I've been living at Chancellor Arms for 3 years and I've never had a problem with it. Its an inexpensive and gated apartment in a safe neighborhood. It is also close to the University of California Riverside and many other stores to grocery shop and eat. I also never had a problem with management. I would recommend living here, especially if you are a student.
